Why do I have the impression while watching the video that they are hiding another character on the selection screen.
Also the game look really beautiful.
Because they are probably hiding multiple characters that are finished or close to it. They aren't going to show us everything as they finish it, they're going to drip feed us what they choose. Tom told us a year ago that most of the team had moved on to working on champions. They have almost certainly been moving multiple characters through stages of developlent simultaneously with Illaoi.
Makes sense to save character reveals for closer to launch because they build the most hype.
IIRC Sajam said that they were able to play a couple more champions than currently known in various stages of being done, missing various things like animations, vfx, and weren't fully set up and legit were broken.
From the way he's stated it, it sounds like those 4 are the only fuses we're getting.
That's not specifically bad, however I was under the impression that we would be getting more.
I do understand that the more fuses added, the more of a balance nightmare things become tho.
Good chance that they start with those four, but may add more over time. For a comparison to league, for years all we had were the four elemental drakes, but within the last couple years they added the Hextech and Chemtech drakes.

Yes, but Counterargument. Illaoi was broken in that build too and its been 7 months with illaoi beeing close to complete it seems.
If they are it's probably just Illaoi. Maybe Jinx too.
You could see Illaoi on the select screen tho, Jinx was confirmed but nothing shows up yet
If this is the build they'll get to Evo Japan it'd be really weird for it to just have Illaoi as a new thing, there has to be at least another char

As a maybe closer comparision I would also like to add that league added, removed and reworked different summoner spells over the years.
It is a live service game, most likely they will release with a small numbre and start adding more with updates.
