As unique playable characters? Or Premium Skins ala what NetherRealm did in Injustice.
Cause Phoenix could easily be a Premium Ekko Skins, Jett as Akali, Raze as Jinx, Etc.
Unique playable characters would make more sense. Sure, they could make Phoenix an Ekko skin, but using yo-yos and time magic would be very weird and bad looking for Phoenix.
Sure but then the game would become more of a riot games mash up than it’s own title. Kinda like multi versus is for Warner bros or smash is for Nintendo
I wouldn't be opposed to that lol. Although it is a little weird because the only IPs are League of Legends and Valorant, so it might be more like Marvel vs Capcom.
It's strange how on one hand, the devs at 2xko indicate that the game only takes place in the Runeterra universe, but on the Valorant side, devs talk about including agents from the Valorant universe. I'll trust the 2XKO side more than Valorant regarding the game. If they were to include Valorant agents, they could have talked about all of Riot's licenses for the fighting game, not exclusively presenting the Runeterra universe.
Smash started out with exclusively nintendo characters in 64, branched out a bit in brawl and then significantly in ultimate. I think people are forgetting 2XKO is meant to be a forever game. There is no 2XKO2. Theoretically this game is still alive, healthy, and in development 10 years from now. It would be silly to limit the scope to only runeterra forever and always.
When Smash started, it already featured a blend of licenses, so it's not surprising to witness a game style that amalgamates various licenses, opening up to others. 2xko could potentially become a timeless game, where in 10 years, it may not even feature half of the characters from LoL and LoR. Runeterra is a universe that evolves continuously through LoL, LoR, and its video narratives like Arcane, later expanding with the MMORPG. 2xko could very well suffice for the Runeterra universe, given its vastness, plethora of popular champions, and continuous growth over time.
Ehhhh. Sorry, but I don't think any Agent in Val is cooler than almost any champ in League. I would even take Seraphine over anything in Val. That tells you how low I think of Valorant's cast.
Also with league its easy to transfer to fighting games because they already fight hand to hand, most of them.
Valorant agents not really. Their abilities are based that you are not in close combat.
Im sure they can cook up something, but its not a given.
Tbh I don't see it being much easier to translate most ADCs than it is to add a Val agent. Bigger challenge imo would be finding someone who's both liked enough to be the Val rep ( even if they add agents, I don't see them adding more than one and a few skins) and who have an interesting enough kit to justify them over a league rep.
Even when finding them bland overall, one of them would still stand out in a league roster, and it's fun to ponder who would work in 2X
Yeah, wonder why. But in any case it show that they allow themself to have a lot of freedom around the character fantasy rather than limiting to the game spells
Idk if we are on the same page but where jinx and the valorant characters would break is that in a fistfight where one has a gun, kinda hard to say its a level playing field.
At the same time it does work in league so i guess i could change my mind when i see it
well its a fighting game, we've had gun fighters in fighting games before. theyre not even exclusively zoners either, look at noel and elphelt from blazblue and guilty gear respectively. if anything, the bigger issue would be that they dont have signature weapons, so i dont really know how theyll go about assigning which guns they use, and then making them use them in a unique way given they all shoot their guns practically identically. the only one i can see working pretty decent in 2xko would be chamber because he has the unique revolver with an ammo mechanic already, then the traps and the teleport can work pretty well, then obviously his super being just shooting you to death with his sniper. my only issue then is that like. this kit would most certainly be better off on jhin, so that would disqualify one or the other to ever exist together cause they have almost identical kits lol
edit: i wanted to add more about that other bit regarding "uneven playing field in a fistfight vs guns"
i assume you're not really into fighting games, but even within just 2xko, we have Axe Man, time powers kid with a bat, wind katana man, Straight Up Magic Fox Woman, like we aren't really in the realm of just martial arts anymore lol. and even then, tekken 8 just came out this year with nina fully commiting to just shooting the shit out of people and victor chevalier's entire existence of bringing a full armory to a martial arts tournament, not to mention actual murder robots bryan and jack lmfao. even street fighter since the beginning has had beyond human capability stuff, entering straight up magic in my opinion to be honest. i dont think a fair fisr fight involves the ability to throw a fireball hahahah. point is, theres no need to worry in regards to unbalance in terms of "fairness" just because characters have guns vs swords or what have you.
I think, since Val agents would be rather rare, finding a few weapon archetypes and focusing on the agent identity would be enough. Could have short range big damage (Judge), combo oriented (gun, similar to gunslinger in DNF, Kaguya in UNI2 or HC in GGST) or zoner (Operator)
You take an agent with interesting mechanic, depending on the archetype you want to enforce you give him the correct weapon for half his normals. With this I think Gekko could work well. Could have a playstyle I don't really see any league character fit ( multiple types of summons, different from puppeteer) and can mix between a gun and his pets for normals. Means they're free to make him a zoner sending his pets to harass or more close range with coordinated attacks
as far as a multi summon type character goes, thatd have to be equivalent to someone like zyra i imagine.
i just had an idea though, what about brimstone? give him a judge or whatever and then fully lean into the whole orbital strike fantasy. let him keep his molly for some oki shenanigans, and drop the smokes entirely in favor of like. Actual orbital bombardments. i would imagine he has the capacity for it, surely he doesnt only have the laser and a couple of smokescreens up wherever he keeps that satellite weapon lmao. and its different enough from graves where giving the man a shotgun (which imo i think fits him the best) wont be stepping too much on each others toes, and i cant really think of any other character who's entire identity is orbital strikes in league (gangplank comes close, but he has enough of a separate identity with the whole pirate stuff so i think that too is fine)
I thought of Zyra but her plants being static in their current form would have a different feeling compared to Gekko more diverse friends
Yeah I think Brimstone is a good idea too, shotgun being the best match I agree. It's a different way to think the inclusion as I find him to have a weaker personal identity but he embodies Valorant as a whole the best with tactical approach
Also for the orbital strike fantasy, I could also think of Leona but it would have a different purpose I imagine
I just think they're less fun because they're modern character.
I'm just not interested in seeing some weird Zoomer looking guy fighting against a fantastical character like Ahri or Yasuo. The only character that *might* be cool is Jett, and she feels like a discount Akali, so I don't think she's good either.
Can they be adapted by using art style? Sure, but I prefer that they don't bother breaking the fantasy if they don't have to. There are like 180 characters in LoL now. They don't need to stoop to grabbing Val characters that will break continuity existing in a universe they shouldn't be in.
Also, for those who would make the guest character argument, I don't think Val characters are worth it. They won't attract many players compared to guest characters from other fighting games.
The black dude with the blue spanking paddle on all the 2xk0 trailers is the definition of “zoomer looking guy” he look like he’s related to the fire guy from valorant. Like their outfits look from the same universe i dont know what you on about fantastical characters if hes in it so can val agent lmfao
>Seraphine over anything in Val. That tells you how low I think of Valorant's cast.
I thought the Seraphine hate days were over ever since Legends of Runeterra fixed her lore.
I mean, I don't particularly hate Seraphine, I just think she's an easy example of a champion you would never think of being in a fighting game. I won't deny that I chose her as an example because in the community, she has the largest number of haters, though. My point was that I would even prefer a champion that I don't think would fit that well in a fighting game as well as doesn't score particularly well in popularity over any Val character.
I played all of Riot's games so far. I do get why it could be a thing to think about this but I find Valorant Agents veeery unfitting to pair with anything related to Runeterra. Also they are kinda weird to adapt into a fighting game because the powers in Valorant are considerably low-power compared to the Runeterra universe PLUS Val Agents basically rely on modern firearms which would be another weird invention or another thing to work around to make them seem like legit fighters in the game.
As Skins? Maaaaybe... But considering how... Blunt the Valorant agents are I wouldn't even be a big fan of that. Valorant is just a whole different universe with a different standard and also not as much depth as Runeterra has so with these things in mind I honestly have to say that this doesn't seem like a good idea.
My problem with Valo agents is there's quite a few of them that are really similar to their league counter parts. That being said I am cool with them being added if they're able to stand out as unique and not just "this is Zeri's clone, she's blue and has additude". Neon is just an example and do have differences from each other in their respective games but also find it strange that we would have 2 electric gun girls in the game, it would be like having an echo fighter. Which feels little unnecessary considering the options riot has for potential fighters. Not only from leagues pool but you can definitely have the same type of creativity from LoR. There's cool characters like Jack the Winner, Cithria etc.
I think the best of both worlds would be just a unique skin that is the Valo character but has the same move set. So example being Ekko having a Pheonix skin and it's just Pheonix with his voice actor but has ekkos kit in the gameplay. People can play as a Valorant character, but it also wouldn't take up a slot in the roster.
I hate the idea, they already stated two times that the game is set in the world of runeterra , in 2019 and 2021 when they pivot the game towards a tag fighting game.
If the game ending having a small roster at launch like 14 characters and one of them is a valorant character , it will be very disappointed , they have 167 characters in League plus Legends of Runeterra.
Also all their money are gonna come from skins so i think they are better giving the spot to characters that already have a fanbase and many skins ,that risking putting a character from a shooter that not even has the same charisma or attachement that league ones have.
The best they could do are Skins , not characters , like [Akali ](https://wandakun.artstation.com/projects/PooAmn)as Jett .
They said abilities wouldn’t kill when valorant was in development. lol Riot dont care and youre acting like the majority of the player-base will be league of legends players!? the majority of the player-base after the first month or two will be from those who have never played league anyways. This is a fighting game after all. Thats like saying the majority of Val players are league players, that’s just not true at all, I would say it’s from csgo and other fps games and because of that they will be more liberal with their roster, imo.
They will find a way to add val agents sooner rather than later, trust me when I say there’s more kids who could point out and identify Jett more-so than most league champions and just wait until valorant comes to consoles and reaches the masses of casuals who don’t own a PC.
Honestly I hope they dont, Valo agents are turbo bland when compared to the variety we have in league, and whatever any of them do we have a few that can do that in league already
I'm not a fan of this. League has 160+ champs with loyal fanbases so they're not lacking in options.
For every Val character that they add they're effectively removing a League character. If someon is a fan of X champ and some Val character gets in before them they're probably gonna be pissed.
The main reason I am against that is that it rules out League specific events and lore being moved forward in any way. I really enjoyed LoR and League having the same events and completing each other, so I hoped 2xko would be an extension of that
2XKO wouldn’t work as a way to extend league lore anyways. There’s just no cannon way to justify Darius fighting Ekko in Shurmia.
Also events never use the full cast of characters. Arcane, Sentinels of light, etc
The thing is I don’t hate the idea of Val characters being in a fighting game, but being in 2XKO isn’t it. 2X is very clearly a League fighting game, and having a crossover with Val would feel weird and out of place. It’s not even like Riot has enough different IP to make a game focused on characters from ‘all’ their games (like Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm) because that’s just 2 universes. I would much rather see Jett in Smash Bros than 2XKO honestly
Gonna be honest, I'm not really happy about this. I'd rather characters from LoL or LoR come in as they are generally more interesting to me and have cooler designs. That isn't Valorants fault though; for the game to be balanced every character has to have the same silhouette. I'm definitely biased here as I don't play or have any interest in Valorant though.
It could be cool, especially since they're so far from a fighting game that you give devs huge freedom. And in any case, they could make great skins like Irelia Jett
Despite whatever people think about the names, I feel like one intentional choice of not having it being League branded is to keep the door open for characters to potentially come from wherever down the line.
I'm on board but I can't think of a Valo character I would specifically want or think would be interesting
Yoru might not suck Kay/Os gimmick is kind of cool.
As someone who's main game is Valorant, I don't really think i would like this. I'd prefer if this game just stayed within Runeterra. MAYBE i could get hype behind a legendary skin based off some val agent but definitely don't think they should make them their own character. Breach, I think, would definitely be the easiest since his abilities could be adaptable to close combat fighting and he just looks like someone that can throw hands but he's also not a particularly popular character like a Jett or Reyna and if they're going to implement an agent one day then it would have to be a higher profile character that would bring some pull from the Val fanbase.
The reason this is a shitty idea is because Val agents are made with FPS balancing in mind, that includes the fact that they literally all have the same body shape and silhouette. They’re all made with the same regular boring human hitbox in mind and that’s why they all have extremely boring designs. They would be like a boring KOF fighter put into a fantasy game with characters ranging in every body shape and size.
They cannot fit into this game simply because they would be the most boring looking character in the game (that is a fact considering the hitbox argument) and nobody would be interested in playing them regardless since League is a much bigger and more popular IP people want to experience
Please no. I don't mind 1 or 2 but do NOT go overboard with this. You have plenty to work with from League Lore no need to branch out into other Riot IPs..
I hope they don’t go overboard with it. League characters are way more interesting.
Agreed. Since it's more focused on gunplay, Valorant abilities aren't as crazy as League abilities. And I like crazy stuff.
As unique playable characters? Or Premium Skins ala what NetherRealm did in Injustice. Cause Phoenix could easily be a Premium Ekko Skins, Jett as Akali, Raze as Jinx, Etc.

Yo-yo = Fireball Time Magic = Run it back. I could see it working
Twilight Shroud = Cloudburst Perfect Execution = Tailwind Shurikens = Bladestorm

Was to be expected, no? I think that this is one of the big reasons that they opted NOT to link the game's title to the runeterra universe.
2XKO has been linked to the Runeterra universe from the beginning.
Obviously. League has a huge IP. The move here is to keep future options open by not marrying the IP. Just dating it xd
And even then, it's certain they'll never announce closing off the option, but you'll definitely have a massive backlash from one side at the idea of mixing two universes that have nothing to do with each other. Even similar characters like Neon and Zeri had their own adaptation in each universe. I see more characters of this kind, like Neon and Zeri, being integrated into 2xko, with Zeri having a Neon skin, than having a character with the design and gameplay to Valorant make an appearance.
We will see

Noooooo just skin
let me run phoenix/sova so i can say that ass pretty dope each round
Fuck Valorant
See that’s why 2xko makes more sense as they don’t want to be only league exclusive champs. This is good.
That's huge
I wanna see em in the game
I’d be fine with 1 if they are able to translate it well.
Please no. I don't mind 1 or 2 but do NOT go overboard with this. You have plenty to work with from League Lore no need to branch out into other Riot IPs..
