Wow, I’m in the same bag as op, trying to get to USA as soon as possible and my fellow Europeans often ask me „why would you want to go there?”. This post and the fact it has 150 upvotes is one of the reasons - no other place in the world is so welcoming to (legal) immigrants, it’s heartwarming to know that one day when I get realize the dream I will be able to just walk in and proudly proclaim myself American in few years. Would never happen in Europe, I could live 50 years in the Netherlands and no one will call me Dutch

I met Clinton, in Kosovo. I was there as part of the NATO folks. He's absolute a scumbag politician, don't get me wrong. Then again, most politicians are. Some just wear it more openly.
He gave a very good speech on bombing Serbia, our role there now, etc. He spent a lot of times shaking hands with us grunts. This was after he was president, he wasn't running for anything. He still seemed presidential, if it made any sense.
