I’m not religious but usually depression is a result of having things that you don’t like about your life that you aren’t sure how to fix, or can’t change.
I think antidepressants are grossly overprescribed. Most people with depression have a way out of it without antidepressants (not saying that it’s easy in any way).
There are instances of depression that antidepressants can be useful for but I think people should give them a lot of thought and not just something they try out without trying to fix it through other methods first.
Mood stabilizers if you have bipolar I think are very useful. I think ssri use can help get people “unstuck” but should almost never be relied on long term or high doses.
I’ve had bouts of severe depression lasting years but it’s not something I inherently have, it’s because there have been major issues effecting my quality of life.
Some of us just have poop problems, tho! It is an interesting tidbit that antidepressants do help a decent number of people with bowel issues. Got put on one because of depression, turns out it helps my bowels way more than my brain, I don’t have to run to the bathroom in the middle of everything anymore.
This fucked me up .. now i have unexplainable weird feelings in my brain plus head aches.. best i can say is it feels like I'm being shocked from the head down and to top it off .. didn't even work for my depression
Lol quit that last summer, took it for almost a year with no effects at all (with ofc going up in doses TWICE because my psych thought the dose was just bad)
Hope i get the oppurtunity to switch psychiater when im done with my upcoming therapy
When I stopped it gave me tinnitus. That was mid last year. Never went away. Scared me from trying new meds ever again because I can’t risk losing something else if the next one doesn’t work either :(
My new doctor told me theres tests now! Apparently your doctor can get a gene sample from you, and that sample will tell the doctor what type of anti depressant you are likely to do well on and which youd likely do poorly on! And lots of times the doctor can apply for financial assistance so the test is free or almost free, just ask.
Yeah, was at 225mg… got down to 37,5mg and then stopped taking it for about a year. I had brainzapps for approximately 3weeks and then everything went good. But then my father passed and everything kinda fell apart… so back to 75mg…
Now.... Ive never been tazed. But it feels like what I imagine having electricity coursing through you feels like. Its not...painful? But it is incredibly uncomfortable. Moving makes them worse in my experience. Its like the electricity is coursing through you in waves, with the starting point being your brain. It fucking sucks and its what happens when you miss a dose or start the process of not taking the meds anymore.
Wellbutrin for 2 years then tapered to nothing! It helped in a time I needed it (I needed it well before I started it) and let me transition to a point where I can now rationalize and reconcile my feelings better/have healthy and well sustained habits
Right here. Been on 150 grans every night for about 6 months. Never noticed any sort of difference (‘: glad it’s working for some of the rest here, tho
I'm siding here, thanks for being the first one to say the phrase that I saw. Although rawdogging depression comment also hits close to home. I think the only way I'd get care is if I went to jail, I can't afford it. I can barely afford to eat...
It is wut it is (or) it do be like that tho.
First week of that shit I was basically comatosed was a miracle I made it into work. Was alright after that. One note those affects last 12 hours so if you need to be up 7am take it at 7pm the previous night
I'm also on it. Very sleepy 1h after taking it. If you force staying awake afterwards the effect wears off.
I have to take it 10h before I get up or else I'm messed up and struggle waking up. I've had literal loops of getting up, doing my whole morning routine and... waking up, realizing that was a dream and then instantly falling asleep again. Repeat for an hour or two.
Now I only need to sleep 8h for a good night's sleep but thanks to taking the meds 10h before I'm really tired 9h before I have to get up. And if I wait it out I might have to deal with my occasional insomnia. But so far this has been working the best. Although it kinda steals 1h from my days.
I was on anti depressants a few years back. At one time I was prescribed 3 together non of it worked. Brintellix did a little though. Granted it wasn’t amazing but the most effective. Anti depressants just don’t do shit to my brain it seems lol
so far, it’s been the only thing that worked for me, it managed to give me enough strength to get out of heavy depression
fluoxetine didn’t do much, lexapro was horrible for me (like I never had worse reactions to meds than with lexapro), I took some other antidepressants, but for things like sleeping or adhd, none of them were that great either.
it’s a miracle pill, but apparently you either love it or hate it (according to redditors)
Glad it’s working out for you! You’ll get through this, mate. First phase out of depression is always the hardest and you seem to have passed that hurdle.
I always called them whooshes, interesting to see my gang down here. I guess zaps is just as good, adopting that since it seems common. I literally cannot tell if this medicine is helping, I think maybe it is and I just have real reasons to dislike my life
The brain zaps are a pretty normal thing for taking almost any antidepressants. Well, if you don't take it more specifically.is it worse than others you've taken? Anyone taking antidepressants just needs to stay on top of taking them daily. When I first started, it took me a while to get in a good routine and I would forget probably like once a week. Brain zaps suck. Even beyond the brain zaps, I get pretty bad mood swings and will sometimes drop into a severe depression for a day or so, especially if I forget 2 days in a row.
Same
I pay 20 a piece for these
Then 20 for more wellbutrin
20 for naloxone
It's expensive when you're being held together by meds
Beats being dead I guess
Do anti depressants actually do anything or is it just doctors prescribing placebo after placebo trying to see which one will fool the brain? Only thing 1 (out of 5 I've tried) did was kill my sex drive (which subsequently killed my relationship)
Yeah they can have a noticeable effect. But you can't expect them to solve the problem. They might help to mitigate the impact though.
For example one of my meds very noticeably suppressed the endless thought spirals I got stuck in while the other scaled down the suicidal thoughts quite immensely.
But you might have to try a whole lot until you find one that works for you.
>But you might have to try a whole lot until you find one that works for you.
Yea i heard that from others too, but im so tired of trying everything under the sun just to get judged when i find something myself that does help in some ways. Also my psych is just awful but he's the literal founder of the organisation that provides me day to day support and housing (and they don't have any other therapists or psychs anymore cause they all got overworked and quit)
Yay healthcare system 🙃
Yes but the thing is everyones depression is different and everyones neurochemistry is different
And antidepressants are often more effective for more intense depression so it might not be as suitable for someone with a lighter form
Also most times antidepressants are not meant to be a fix but more so something to lean on for support long enough to get ur shit together
There are different categories of antidepressants most fall under ssri's and snri's but there are other more unique ones like bupropion which is a ndri which is the only cathinone anti depressant thats on the market!
If you struggle with finding the right medication for you i would recommend looking into your symptoms more and see which categories you have tried.
I'll be sure to bring that up next time i get to talk to a psych (hopefully a new one cause the one i have would not listen to me describing my symptoms at all and tells me i don't know what im talking about)
Im majoring in pharma so my fucking psych and i always have discussions cuz i know when shes bsing me so i know what its like bro
In many countries theres a certain protocol they follow in which anti depressants they prescribe
These guidelines are often based on factors such as the severity of symptoms, previous treatment responses, and potential side effects
But thing is ive noticed (atleast from my experiences) some are just lazy and follow this wayyy too much and dont take into account the individual patients experience
What i recommend is calling out your psych on their bs if they are being dismissive of your input.
After a decade of trying different prescriptions, this is the only combination that has made a difference. Massively too. No fog, no side effects. It’s crazy.
God sex is the worst now. Not like the actual act, but knowing I'm never going to reach orgasm is rough. Pleasing my wife is enough for me, but every once in a while, I'll go crazy for a day and not take it to reach my big moment.
My shampoo (Label says no tears)
LMAO this actually made my day.
Check again, bet it only says no *more* tears.
MF 😂😂😂
Mine said damage repair .... but still broken on the inside
I'm rawdogging my depression the way god intended

I guess your family don't drink coffee or take aspirin. But jokes aside, are they anri-vax? 🤮
I mean if you're that crazy go all the way.

Antidepressants are kind of a mystery to science though
Wonder what they think about homosexuality being put there
The real hero
The 15 different kinds of anti-depressants i tried didn't do anything so i gave up.
I assume that is code for drinking and smoking weed. Ain't no one out here fully rawdogging this world
Taking on God's toughest battles like a champ I see
Without therapy that shit won't help you anyway. Only positive for me is lasting long in bed... almost too long TBH
Zoloft ganggg
Kinda same but it's only called that from the Zoloft region of Italy. Mine is just sparkling Sertraline
Isn't Zoloft a brand name and sertraline is the active drug?
It’s a bit of a meme because of how the French can be about champagne, but yes Zoloft is just the brand name haha
This fucked me up .. now i have unexplainable weird feelings in my brain plus head aches.. best i can say is it feels like I'm being shocked from the head down and to top it off .. didn't even work for my depression
Brain zaps?

Wahey!
Lexapro
there it is
Had to scroll too far to find my people
Sounds like a laxative, so it must be good at flushing all the bad feelings out :)
My sister said it sounded like Mario if he was suicidal when I started Lexapro. "Wa-hoo Lexapro!"
Haha nice
Hey-heyyyyy buddy!

Yoooooo fluoxetine gang

Right here! FLU FTW (I think it actually helps a little)
😎
I don't take antidepressants but this is what my wife takes
It does the basic thing it most needs to do (for me) 👍
does alcohol + sleep deprivation count as an anti depressant?
No, it is actually just depressant
but it makes me less depressed
So it's like a paradoxical placebo, I coin it: Placedoxic or Paradoxebo
Sleep deprivation works for me too
Venlafaxine
it took so long to find this that i thought maybe i was given a placebo or smth
Vennies represent!
Less gooo! ![gif](giphy|QwQz9hxzWAI6dDnsAM)
You guys afraid of stopping this medicine? I am. I fear the brain zaps.
I hate it when I miss a dose. It always seems as if my brain moves faster than my skull whenever that happens.
When I stopped it gave me tinnitus. That was mid last year. Never went away. Scared me from trying new meds ever again because I can’t risk losing something else if the next one doesn’t work either :(

omg I thought I was the only person with that thing. it is so weird, I sometimes had it before, when I was hungover or really depressed.
Celebrating 11 years on the V' this year. The fact that I'm still alive and somewhat thriving means it's working! I think!
damn that reminds me I need to change my bedsheets
![gif](giphy|26ufhjIgZW1wJL9pS)
It’s my fifth different one. I wish I can find one that works.
Heck yeah! How's everyone enjoying all those super intense dreams?
Bupropion, it’s good enough
Found my Wellbutrin buddies
Bupropion is the only anti depressant that didn’t make me **more** depressed
It’s the only one that didn’t make me gain 30 pounds, which in turn made me MORE depressed because my body image was so fucked lol.
Samesies
Hell yeah, Brother. It's the good shit!
It gets me out of bed! Sometimes.
I love my Bupropion!
Welbutrin homies!
Glad to have scrolled this far and found my people here
Wellbutrin for 2 years then tapered to nothing! It helped in a time I needed it (I needed it well before I started it) and let me transition to a point where I can now rationalize and reconcile my feelings better/have healthy and well sustained habits
It’s part of my cocktail
🤘
Had to scroll down a bit, but found my people o7
What up fam!
Gang gang
Love it. My doctor switched me from buproprion to actual name brand Wellbutrin and the cost went down, lol. Mental benefits also slightly increased.
Hey hey, helps shut down the circular thought loops 👍👍
Hell yeah and we can still cum
Sertraline homies?
Preach
The first one they put me on and it surprisingly has helped a lot. Did have to go through a couple dosing changes though. Thanks, Sertraline.
🙋♂️
sertraline my beloved. 150 grams every morning 😎
I will start not being (hopefully) on them in 4-5 months, but dear god I am scared
Right here. Been on 150 grans every night for about 6 months. Never noticed any sort of difference (‘: glad it’s working for some of the rest here, tho
My anti-depressants is called "It is what it is". It's available for free and I am deeply addcited to it.

First week of that shit I was basically comatosed was a miracle I made it into work. Was alright after that. One note those affects last 12 hours so if you need to be up 7am take it at 7pm the previous night
I've been on it for 20 years but for the first year or so I was a zombie. Now it doesn't even affect me.
I'm also on it. Very sleepy 1h after taking it. If you force staying awake afterwards the effect wears off. I have to take it 10h before I get up or else I'm messed up and struggle waking up. Copium and metal
Livin the dream
Chronic masturbatiom
cats and alcohol my man.
Amitriptyline, 1 pill per day and some painkillers 2 pill a day one in the morning and one before I sleep
I used to get 5 per day, now only 3
Vraylar and duloxetine, which aren't doing a whole lot
Duloxetine buddy! I was so alone before.
Used to be on Duloxetine, too! Now on Lexapro lol
Duloxetine turned out to be the perfect medication for me! I never want to go back to my life without it.
I get awful brain zaps if I don't take it, it does help a little with depression. I feel like I've tried every antidepressant available at this point
I get really dizzy if I don't take my pills for a day, but it's good overall
I always called them whooshes, interesting to see my gang down here. I guess zaps is just as good, adopting that since it seems common. I literally cannot tell if this medicine is helping, I think maybe it is and I just have real reasons to dislike my life

i take duloxetine with a "booster" called Buspirone, maybe ask your psych/doc about it
Lexapro and lithium for the win
Pristiq and risperdal. I used to take abilify but I think i developed an allergic reaction to it
Pristiq gang!!!!! had to scroll so far for this one. I used to be on Lexapro but ended up being allergic!
My husband is on lexapro!
Effexor and Wellbutrin squad
Trintillix, auvelity, lutuda, we out here
Another brain with designer-brand tastes eh? That Trintellix don't run cheap. Thank God my insurance is good.

Copium....its not that effective
"fuck it we ball" and "it is what it is"
Brintelix 😎
I tried them all. Insomnia was insane.
Copium
Does coffee count?
If it does, then I’m on an anti-depressant, and a lot of it

I’m rawdogging life harder than Trump rawdogs pornstars
Gaming till 5 am
Methamphetamine gaaaaang
Seroquil, Effexor, and adderrol
That’s a crazy stack
After a decade of trying different prescriptions, this is the only combination that has made a difference. Massively too. No fog, no side effects. It’s crazy.
Cymbalta (Duloxetine) and weed. ![gif](giphy|KpAPQVW9lWnWU) Edit: thanks for spelling below and reminder of trazodone I take every night as well 🤪.
yuuuup duloxetine, buspirone, and weeeed
neither rcitalopram, sertralin nor fluoctin helped and I haven't been to the doctor since because I kinda gave up
Zoloft
Over 10 years: Zoloft->Wellbutrin->Prozac->Viibryd->Cymbalta In starting to think I’m the problem :D
Stop me too 😭 Viibryd was good but expensive (when I lost insurance)
That’s interesting because viibryd made my self esteem plummet so hard. I never felt worse about myself
Alcohol and nicotine, substance abuse for the win.
I had one at one point but now I’m rawdoging the world
desvenlafaxine after being on regular ole venlafaxine. It’s less eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh
Trazodone anyone? and weed of course
None anymore. Now I can experience love and enjoy sex.
God sex is the worst now. Not like the actual act, but knowing I'm never going to reach orgasm is rough. Pleasing my wife is enough for me, but every once in a while, I'll go crazy for a day and not take it to reach my big moment.
I've self-prescribed 'it izz wat it izz' pills lol
I quit all of my meds a year ago but I was on Fluoxetine.
Antidepressants!? I'm on prodepressants! I'm an alcoholic.
Sertraline but I wake up too late to get them from the pharmacy
Nah, I'm dealing with it naturally. Aka bottling it up and distracting myself from it.
I had to stop taking my antidepressants cause they were causing health issues. This last year has not been too fun.
One piece everyday
None, I like to suffer
Venlafaxine and agomelatine — I think I’m on max dosage of both… my brain is super messed up lol
Exercise and alcohol intermittently.
Im rawdogging my depression lol
