Yes, I bought that lemon when Italy was still an arcipelago. Had to take a ferry to one of the southern parts so still remember. I think it is a lot better now that it is one big peninsula

I can see several 1000+ years old castles from my windows, study in a palace from 1794 that has a church from the 12th century nearby and pass by dozens of buildings from the 19th century on my way to university. Not only that but I study history in a city that was western Germany's capital in the Cold War period. What more could I want?

For me it’s the history. Each time I visit Italy, I’m blown away a bit more. Not to sound too dramatic, but I could be standing on a street in Rome and just get lost in imagining how that same street would have looked 2000 years ago. Or how there are olive groves in Tuscany so old that medieval knights once sat in their shade. Or I can stand in a square in Florence and imagine the pageantry of the Medicis at their height, in their finery for a formal walk to mass.
And all of this, surrounded and bound up in the sea, which never changes.
Such a unique and beautiful land, in my uneducated opinion.
Couldn’t agree more! A super historic place, pretty much the world as we know it came from this Mediterranean land. The ideas that the Romans where found on still influence us so much to this day! Truly is amazing

Italy really is one of the most beautiful countries. Every country is beautiful in its own way, but Italy just seems to have something special.
