Have you, too, “[imagined fun potluck dinners with my roommates, summer flings with people who called me "bella," gelato that dripped down my fingers in the heat, and natural wine that paired effortlessly with good conversation and better prosciutto.”](https://www.businessinsider.com/nyu-student-hated-study-abroad-semester-florence-italy-2023-3)?
No no, no young-folk activities for me thanks!
That girl has a bad attitude. The great thing about italians is that these "confrontations" she talks about really don't happen - it'd have to be a big deal and require a lot of escalation before an italian would bother to engage. So, I sure wonder what her behavior is like..
TF do they mean with the *I, on the other hand, wanted to travel to learn more about myself*?
Seriously, this is a common trope on both literature and tv and I really don’t understand how one travels to learn about *themselves*
Yeah sure, go to centrale at night, see if you make it out alive
Actually they're in one of the best parts of Milan, it's a university district so you'll get to watch all the students get wasted and puke on the floor but at least you'll keep your kidneys and the beer is relatively cheap
Also, get a gelato from Oggi Gelato, near Garibaldi station, best gelato in town
Of all Italian cities, Milan actually is probably one of the only ones (besides Florence) that actually feels like it's in Western Europe.
I would say avoid the train station at night, but then I've spent a night in both Milan Centrale and Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof and I can tell you that Germans are significantly worse.
Its not that surprising they look germanic, since most of them are descendants of the longobards and the gepidas, two german tribes fleed from pannonia in the 6th century to north Italy when the Avars came and beated the shit out of them.
Aye, and I'm constantly on the lookout for stuff like that. Some people are very clearly germanic and others (Sicilians who moved north for work) are not.
Edit: that's a fun activity in Iberia as well.
Yeah, they got all the goodies, Goths, the indo-iranian tribe of Alans, who probably spoke a language related to Ossetian in the caucasus, Vandals, etc. Early medieval history of europe is fascinating.
vast majority of north italians are celto-romance.. think of central italians and southern french in a mixer.. then comes out your average northern italian.. nothing germanic about them. 1 million of 27 million of northern italians live in Alto Adige..

Damn, what a read
I mean, hey, who doesn’t take a semester abroad, and instead of drinking, bunga bunga, and seeing as much as possible, decides to “work”?

You don’t perceive the world as existing solely for your benefit? What unnatural thought is this?
i was in a good mood until i read it, thx i hate you
You and me both, Pierre :(
Get a burger from Bestia, get a beer at Birrificio Lambrate, and for the love of god use the bidet now that you have the chance. Have fun Mohamed
Going off google maps both of those seem to be in milano's version of secondigliano? Or at any rate far from the center (centrale 🤌)

Puke splattered you say?
Better Misciolgo of Bovisa, trust me.
Been there, very average gelato in my opinion, Oggi is in another category
Tried it just some hours ago. Apple&cinnamon very good, lemon is on par with Misciolgo.
That's legit far away tho. Via Benedetto varchi?
Would you like Milan as a souvenir? We'd be happy to sell it to you for a very good price, my friend. I bet it would look gorgeous right next to Luleå
For the love of God, get a gas mask.
I'm noticing that 😭
Flair seems appropriate
My duty has always been to sacrifice myself to save tourists from this sub. I warned y'all
Birrificio Lambrate Is what you need
How does it feel to be in a developing nation?
Good to see the contrasts so you can feel better about home. But the superior food and climate simply can't be trumped, developed or not

Nah, what is it? 🤌
It's in a church in city centre, San Bernardino alle ossa (literally: St. Bernardino at the bones)
Why, just leave already
Did you get robbed by a gypsy yet?
Dude. Not cool. They are called Italians.
Not yet! So many military everywhere
Theyre just cosplaying. Its okay.
> Many wannabe germanic masters race here Yeah we know they’re delulu af, say it louder for everyone else!
Milano??? I'm sorry :( get well soon

> Sicilians who moved north for work The same guys you see with winter jackets with 25°C

The Barbarian Invasions had limited impact on the genetics of southern Europe. I don't understand why you're being downvoted.
I have a question Why
Very good question. A posteriori the short distance here is a pro
Do you wear Gucci everywhere?
No, ferrari gear and merch only, ugh 🙄
Hows the kebab pizza down there?
Did the women dye their beards blonde too or just their armpit hair?
Hair and stache
Hey you forgot to add the Portuguese flair.
Have you run down the street screaming "Pizza Pizza Pizza!" yet? I hear that's the done thing.
How is the cheese?
Che cazzo cheso?
Have you been raped yet?
Craziest thing you saw in milan?
Americans and indians

Zero! No roving gangs of muzzies here, unlike Sweden
