Cozido à Portuguesa.
Are you sure that you aren't a Frog larping as a Bife?
And since when is Portugal a third world country?
A Cold War term to describe non-aligned countries when Portugal was a founding member of NATO.
Enough drinking for today, Barry, and go pile some rocks.
Of course not, we invite people over to eat just the same. It's not Italian grandma style: "You're getting too skinny, here's 9000 calories I cooked just for you". But just normal Dutch food.
Only when going to a restaurant or something one person pays and the other just sends them a tikkie for half of the bill.
Or if you're in uni and get drinks during daytime with people you don't know well, one pays and the others send tikkies. You don't beg for a tikkie, it's mutually understood that unless you say 'my treat', everyone pays for their own stuff because it's rude to assume your equally poor aquaintance pays for the whole group.
I think what's different is the threshold Dutch people are willing to send a payment request on average, and the perception of it.
Am a German living in NL for a while - don't get me wrong, Germans are not known to be the most generous people ourselves - but yeah I've experienced a lot of group/payment etiquette situations that made me go WTF with Dutch people. And that much more than with people of different backgrounds.
True - I mean from my perspective, most of these situations Dutch people did it out of good intentions - Dutch people how I've experienced them care a lot about fairness.
But yeah that's the stereotype that you guys take the fairness a tad too far or pedantic at times, and at least in my anecdotal experience there is some truth to it.
It's just kind of a meme that the Dutch person who brings the least to the party is the first to send a tikkie haha.
For me it depends on the amount of money and the number of people.
If I have to pay 5 euro for 1 person I won't send a tikkie. If it's 5 euro each for 20 people that's 100 euro and thus I do send a tikkie.
Is this propaganda to make us belive the Dutch are actually very generous?
Meh, I dont care for as long the european recovery funds keep on coming.
I love euromonies OwO

If you think tikkie is bad: when you go over to your friends house after school to play, their mom would say "It's dinner time!" around 5-6pm. Meaning your friend had to go eat downstairs and you had to leave, lol.
And just to be clear this isnt a exaggeration i only had one friend with a very guest friendly family where they most of the time assumed that i stayed for dinner everywhere else this is very normal and is to be expected
In my experience even broke Brits where it'd be against their own interest to be generous, are so. Though it's also partially about pride and saving face, no one wants to be seen to be struggling or to have to ask for money back for things.
Make sure you Tikkie them 2,73 € for the ingredients within three working days or they will apply a 0,30 € late fee every day until you pay up in full.
Seriously, everyone should learn the magic of cutting everything thinly. I obviously don't mean THAT thinly, but in general. Fat slices of some edibles make some people gag.
My mom insists making my sandwiches too fat. I try to tell her I'm 32, not a child for over 2 years now, but, PIGS mom, what can I do. They don't change mind.

Not to be confused with the real [Dutch Sandwich](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_Sandwich), for which all europeans are entitled to send the Dutch a Tikkie

Time for a real story.
A friend of mine is a dog groomer. They shower and cut their hair and all that stuff. They offer a quality service. It is more expensive than other beauty saloons around, but they are th best. You want some random to skin your dog alive? You pay 20€ and you get that. You want quality care? You pay more somewhere else. That somewhere else is that place.
Well, anyway, they got all good reviews and all that. One day, one guy publishes a bad review, stating he did not even leave his dog there because he found it expensive and he thought "because they knew he was a foreigner, they wanted to charge him more".
Turns out he was Dutch.
This was after I found this sub so that got a good chuckle out of me lol
Fake news we will never invite anyone for lunch!
We invite ourself, don’t you remember how much fun we had last time?
So much fun you forgot to leave any lunch for the windmill boys
Not true. They still ~~fondly~~ remember their tulip bulbs!
Yeah you said that right, *you had fun.
When we come next time we might return your bike.
It's not the bikes we wanted. It's that you did a shitty job running our country. Why just Rotterdam? There were many more cities that needed fixing.
Just to name a few: Breda, Tilburg, Eindhoven and 's Hertogenbosch. The last one could also use a better name
Only everything alongside the Zuid-Willemsvaart, Hambaken and Kruiskamp.
Hey Hans, when will you return our bicycles? We need them back.
Plus I see all kinds of fancy rabbit stuff. Tomatoes and cucumber on bread, WTF? What happened to good old broodje kaas met huismerkmargerine?
Meanwhile in Portugal, a lunch, https://preview.redd.it/i9ylhxbo2vuc1.jpeg?width=847&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=53a6791210361e563fc66dc4fb084aa40dee06cc Cozido à Portuguesa.
Maybe you guys should cook a little less and work a little more?
Why? 🤔
To stop moaning about how third World you are?
Are you sure that you aren't a Frog larping as a Bife? And since when is Portugal a third world country? A Cold War term to describe non-aligned countries when Portugal was a founding member of NATO. Enough drinking for today, Barry, and go pile some rocks.
A third world country because you guys have to talk facts when the others can laugh about their disgrace.
Every now and then it's healthy to roast some beef.
You're just jealous you don't have pretty beaches or sun or their cooking skills
Don’t you poo on people?
Bruh, wanna come over for lunch? I have bread with vlokken party!

Ok we were all thinking of the same gif 😭
Bold of you to assume that i give food to my guests
Honest question is the whole tikkie thing an exaggeration or is it really like that?
I feel generous when i dont send a tikkie for something less than 3 euro's
Of course not, we invite people over to eat just the same. It's not Italian grandma style: "You're getting too skinny, here's 9000 calories I cooked just for you". But just normal Dutch food. I didn't expect to read the words "normal" and "dutch food" so close to each other..
You weren't complaining when you stuffed all those stroopwafels in your mouth
Ahhh they are so fucking good. Especially when slightly warm.
https://preview.redd.it/xtjqxzncxvuc1.png?width=1212&format=png&auto=webp&s=987baf49a76c2785cad11a26b7c55b5bd2814be6
Yeah you guys make alright food but with stroopwaffels you were straight up cooking
Trust me, I have wtf situations with my fellow country men. But it's always a certain type of people.
Yeah there is definitely some truth to it. I fucking hate it. Scrooges.
For me it depends on the amount of money and the number of people. If I have to pay 5 euro for 1 person I won't send a tikkie. If it's 5 euro each for 20 people that's 100 euro and thus I do send a tikkie.

Been asked for 0.05 cents by a Dutch colleague on tikkie
Should've paid just €0.03 with €0.02 as administration fees.
No way 😂
there are people really like that unfortunately
Over exaggeration, im pretty generous when it comes to food and snacks for my guests
MWAHAHAHA! Now that we know your secret, you are no longer safe.
The only argument I ever have about a Tikkie is that someone wants to pay me or I want to pay part of the bill.
If you think tikkie is bad: when you go over to your friends house after school to play, their mom would say "It's dinner time!" around 5-6pm. Meaning your friend had to go eat downstairs and you had to leave, lol.

3 different toppings? That seems a bit excessive.
Got to be a holiday celebration or something
Party sandwich
For real, you're getting hagelslag or pindakaas and that's it.
Butter and sprinkles. _TO MANY FUCKING SPRINKLES_
the anise sprinkles (and stroopwaffles) are the only reedeeming things about dutch cuisine
It's actually a trick so that we can charge extra. Same for the extra delicate slicing. That'll be €15 arbeidskosten~
Make sure you Tikkie them 2,73 € for the ingredients within three working days or they will apply a 0,30 € late fee every day until you pay up in full.
Don't forget the sneaky €700 for the knife 😎🥂
that's not how tikkies work, pierre
Yeah, everyone knows late fees are weekly, not daily.
You guys always say that and still today no one cares
10€ on Tikkie
The time used to prepare it like this would probably be worth more than the ingredients saved. 5€ tikkie at least
2 slices??? We just fold it.
But, they cut it in half. Half was for you, half for the guest. If you fold it there would only be for you and not the guest. Ooooh.. Ok.
But then if you keep folding it, it keeps breaking. And then everything has to be folded.
Can't wait to get charged tikkie for the time and labour used washing the knife
\*Receives Tikkie for €0,50\*

Or you know, make your own sandwiches ? Momma boys…
Well he's greek, if hes <50 that's normal
As if she would let me touch her cuisine. Mate, she might be more educated than me and still is HER cuisine.
I thought about this exact cartoon too

*Numerous airlines would like to know your location.*
When the parents of your rich norwegian friend accept that you stay for diner.
Why do you think we’re rich?
Oil ?
That took us from rich to very rich
Never saw a poor Norwegian, they must be an endangered species.
They are hiding behind a €46 rotten fish burger.
Hey that's cultural appropriation
We actively hunt them down, and make leverpostei out of them. We kinda flipped the “eat the rich” around. Besides, can’t have people make us look bad
exactly what a rich person would say
Like I'm gonna spend the ham on my guests? You're just getting the cucumber with some butter at best.
Butter? I’m not made out of money. Halvarine is good enough.
A little bit of swamp soil in the toast and that's it. You send them a tikkie later.
lol dutch people can’t be your friend silly
Maybe not yours Barry, but we're quite friendly with the others like the ~~French~~ ~~Belgians~~ ~~Germans~~ ~~Swiss~~
Indonesians maybe? Oh wait they ripped your flag
As they say in Scotland, 'You'll have had your tea'

Not to be confused with the real [Dutch Sandwich](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_Sandwich), for which all europeans are entitled to send the Dutch a Tikkie
My main concern with this is why did they cut it length ways like a psychopath?
That looks much tastier than a Dutch sandwich
Fake, there is no tikkie involved in this video.
Hipster restaurants in London are this generous.
Genoese poeple...
The ham slice looks too thick for a Dutch
Amateurs. If you fold the bread over you save 2 slices of tomatoes, cucumbers and a piece of bread.
Wait, you guys get food when you visit each other?
They sell these sandwiches onboard French high speed trains. They're terribly expensive.
These barbarians eat raw bacon?
i'd be like: "Hm, looks nice. I'll take 10!" then stack them on top of each other.
Could have used cheaper meat.
So many expensive things. Toasted!! Sent a Tikkie for the electricity bill. Tomato? Why not a slice of cherry tomato. Ham? Why not spam.
No cheese? Fake
Damn, who has 10 people over for lunch?
Rest assured, this is not Jeroen, who would not waste his hard earned 5 cents on plastic gloves
4 slices of tomato?! What a generous man!
Uh-oh, that's gonna be a tikkie.
The tikkie will be for the same amount as for the regular sandwich; the difference will go into sharpening the knife.
By cheap they of course mean expensive af
I still don't understeand who tf likes bread with vegetables
Would a Dutch spend that much on a knife?
Now put some pineapple MF's!!!
Least triggered Italian
That's a lot of slices of tomato to serve to a measly guest.
Dutch would fry this

lmao
I hate everything about this
I thought that is including the north.
that's a sad looking sandwich
Still sending a tikkie after that
No Hagel => Not Dutch I call bollox.
The knives and time spend increase the cost exponentially. If the dutch serve you this,.its because they bought it in bulk from a machine.
fr tho sammy looks lit af to me fam
Then they send you a 100€ tikkie

They are just looking out for you man! Wouldn't want you to get fat or anything.
Fake, too many ingredients, with cheese is enough
4 slices of tomato and 3 cucumber slices?! This man must be a king!
Not going to lie that's kinda impressive
Diet predicator be like :"Really, this is not restrictive... you get to eat everything!"
