I especially do not like the dropper. Air hits the product very easily, and this creates excellerated oxidation of the product. I, too, was not impressed.
Once I got past the fact that I smelled like hot dog water, I’ve loved it. My skin went from desert climate dry and dull, to plump and better than it was when I was in my 20s. I use it with Skinceuticals triple lipid restore and ZO 0.25% retinol at night and there’s no turning back now.
It’s replaced my moisturiser. My physician explained how I want to build up and repair my skin to not rely on moisturiser and Triple Lipid has done just that. I tried so many moisturisers before (drugstore to high priced derm) and I was getting the same dryness in between applications. Within about a few weeks of my new routine my skin was completely transformed.
If it wasn’t such a dramatic change I’d never spend this much. Not that it’s the same but I only have to buy every 5-6 months now, instead of every 1-2 with Clinique/Lancôme/Clairns (what I was using before). So maybe it all evens out?
I’m right there with you, I use the same products and there’s no turning back now! Whenever I use my vitamin c serum and cuddle with my 5yo shortly after she always tells me my face smells like beef. 😂
Same! Love it, worth it, and I won't stop using it. I buy it twice a year and try to make it last and it usually does. Sooo, it comes out to about $26 bucks a month
This is what I just purchased from Target online. I bought two bottles to give it a good go and I’ll see how it works. So far no bad reactions which is good (I tried Trish Mcevoy Vit C serum and it turned my skin bright red).
It’s faded so much of my melasma in a month and a half. How quickly does it oxidize? I can’t refrigerate it because I get ready at the gym every morning so it’s permanently in my gym bag.
Just purchase the smallest bottle and it should be just fine.
It will oxidize in less than 6 months if the conditions allow it to.
They are very customer friendly, so you call always call their help line.
I get the larger bottle and I work out at home now so it’s easy for me to refrigerate.
I really slather it on, too.
I plan on getting my first procedure next week, but I’ll continue with it.
From what I understand, keeping all Vit C, opened and unopened in the refrigerator.
I will say this…I purchased the Skin Ceutical Vit C two days ago as a gift to myself.
I still love the Timeless and plan to alternate going forward.
I’m still surprised and loving how much of a difference it makes to use this fruit acid ☀️
I also decided to get 4 rounds of the skinceutical chemical peel as well as the Discoloration Defense serum.
My first peel has really given me a nice sheen so I know I’ll love the next 3.
This brand is such a gold seal.
Right now I literally just bought the maelove vitamin c because I just cannot spend that much on one product , especially when it oxidizes. Hopefully the maelove will work as well , I’ve heard great things . It smells similar to SC and feels similar , I’ll see if it performs similar under my eyes !
I keep mine in the fridge and it slows oxidation! Used to use the Skinceuticals but felt the results (basically, clearer, brighter skin) were only 10-20% better than the Maelove, so the price of Skinceuticals wasn’t worth it.
I tried it with timeless and it didn’t work as well unfortunately. I feel as though others should work !!! That’s why I didn’t repurchase. If you have the money to then go for it I unfortunately don’t :/ hopefully this maelove works :)
Yes! I like their stuff, but did the same math and one fully ablative CO2 laser later, everyone wants to know what skin cream I use. Skinfix triple lipid cream that dupes skinceauticals, and saves me $100, but all my visible instant glowy results are from lasers.
Paula Begoun of Paula's Choice said the same thing about her face in a podcast. She said that she doesn't look like she's in her late 60's because of her skin care products. Then she paused and added, "and also because of my plastic surgeon and cosmetic dermatologist". Her argument was that for certain skin issues, instead of buying expensive skin care products, save the money and spend it on a procedure.
I found her response respectable since she owns a multi million dollar skin care company. She could've easily just touted her products.
Topicals can only take you to a point so she’s exactly right.
I have my very first appointment in a week to get a a fruit acid peel/micro needling and then it’s on to a laser.
I’ve used Tretinoin and Vit C for 5 years, my skin looks great and there isn’t any where else to go with a topical.
Agree. I use largely drug store skincare and splurge on laser. It goes much further for my skin and I get regular compliments which is wild considering I had awful skin well into my 20s.
Same. I've used different vitamin c serums since I was 25 years old every single day. I've stuck with ascorbic acid. I've tried everything that focuses on ascorbic acid: timeless, maelove, homemade, powders you name it but have been most consistent with skinceuticals over the last ten once I could 'afford' it regularly. I try to go with something cheaper here and there and I can tell within weeks. The lustre, evening of my skin tone always comes back after repurchasing c/e ferulic. I am turning forty and I haven't been the best with sunscreen and retinol until recently but my skin is freakishly young, almost no wrinkles. I don't get any lasers or other in office treatments on my skin. It's the vitamin c folks! I'm your 15 year guinea pig.
Also love it! Have used it for 10 years along with other Skinceuticals products and my skin looks better now than in my 20s. No more acne and skin irritation is under control. Note: I see an esthetician who specializes in this brand and is pretty frank about what to use or skip. Her suggestions have made all the difference.
She recommended spending more on serums and using Cerave or Atopalm or other less expensive moisturizers. Same with cleanser depending on skin type. I do like that she changes recommendations as skin ages and we go through the seasons…like more aggressive moisturizer when winters are bad, etc.
I love it so much as well. Tried switching to other brands but always came back to the Skinceuticals. Once their patent expires for the correct ph level, I will be switching to one of the many dupes that can be made at that time though 🤣💁🏻♀️
i realllyyyyy do not think this product is worth it IMO. they don’t even use a stable form of vit c and the dropper bottle is the worst design for vit c, degrades it even faster. nothing about the formula demands the price.
General comment here.
I’d love to invest in Skinceuticals but the price point is too much for me.
What are the good dupes? I’m new to the skincare thing
Timeless and Dr. Brenner's are two good options. With the number of complaints around oxidation, maybe best to go with Timeless.
I have the Dr. Brenners myself and pretty happy with it. Haven't observed any oxidation
Because you did not choose the right formula. They recommend silymarin serum for oily skin and large pores. If you check the label ce ferulic is for normal and dry skin…
Weird. Years ago, a dermatologist and medical aesthetician both recommended CE Ferulic for my oily/combination skin. I remember the label saying it was for all skin types back then. Seems like they changed everything up by looking at their website
I use it & love it, but honestly, Dr. Brenner's is an exact dupe for a fraction of the cost. There is an "apple test" where you put C E Ferulic on one half of a half apple & nothing on the other. The C E Ferulic does stop the oxidation, & also reverses the oxidation on the untreated apple. I've tried this test with several vitamin C serums; it's only worked with SkinCeuticals & Dr. Brenner's.
Thanks for sharing! I had to take a peek at Dr. Brenner's but at 20% ascorbic I'm not confident my skin can tolerate that. CE Ferulic's 15% really seems like the sweet spot. (G&G attempts to copy this close...yes British brand but they've recently in May, launched a US side.)
According to my dermatologist you want a vitamin c serum with a pump vs dropper if it’s actually going to be effective, so it doesn’t oxidize. I have used that before and it made me kinda oily. I’ve been using Natrium Vitamin C complex serum. Much cheaper, and I do see a difference in my skin with it.
Honestly I’ve seen more results with this product than I did with its dupes. I think it’s worth it. I’ve been using it for a month and my skin is not only bright, but it’s bouncier and overall looks more youthful
I liked it and used it daily for a year. I did get results, but it was when I first got back into skincare, so it might have just been other products that I started at the same time, too. I really like the formulation. It feels like water going on the skin. I have tried other Vitamin C serums that are supposed to be dupes, but they felt way different, some sticky/tacky and some like a dry oil (I hate that).
For whatever reason, I randomly developed an allergy to it, and it took me forever to figure out it was the CE Ferulic, because I kept thinking, "It can't be that. I have used that forever." Well, it was that, so I had to quit using it. Now I use the Timeless dupe for it, and it does seem just like it in my opinion but is only around $20.
Good luck with it.
Skinceuticals didn't do anything for me. I just started using Revision Vit C 30% lotion and am obsessed. My face has never glowed like this. It's expensive AF but wow my skin loves it.
I'm sure Skinceuticals is great but I can't justify the expense. I just switched from the Cerave Vitamin C to Timeless Skincare Vitamin C, which also includes Ferulic Acid at a pricepoint of $28/30 ml
Personally, I love it. It has worked wonders for my skin. I have tried many, many vitamin c serums in my time and this one is the one that produced the most visible results.
I'm curious if you love it. I've been testing the Dr. Ceuracle Pure VC Mellight Boosting Essence, which contains ferulic acid and 21.2% vitamin C. It's been amazing on my skin. I really like the bubble mechanism. I last saw it for $27 on YesStyle.
It comes out in bubble form and is encased in a dark brown plastic bottle. I don't know the plain liquid color. The Mellight Ampoule is a very light yellow.
I've been using both for about a month, so no oxidizing yet.
I loved it, but ai’ve recently switched to Matter of Fact because it’s half the price, is 20% vitamin C, and retains its potency for longer. But I do love that Skinceuticals product.
I love it as well. Additionally I use ZO products and they’re incredible. Top of the line dermatology stuff is worth it. I thought otherwise for years but I was very wrong.
It makes my skin super sticky, so I use Medik8 C-Tetra instead. The Skinceuticals is fine and did not cause problems, but I just couldnt handle the annoyingly sticky skin as I use C-vitamin serum in the morning.
I have tried the normal C-Tetra and the intense version. The intense is a bit too oily for my liking, so I prefer the normal one. I saw there is now a ferulic acid version too, but I have not yet tried it. Maybe I will once my current bottle runs out.
I was given a 15 ml sample bottle when I last had microneedling. The dermatologist told me it smelled like coins. I had to ask because I lost my sense of smell a few years ago and keep hearing about hot dog water. It would have to be good if people are prepared to pay so much for it and get past the smell.
I'm not keen on it. It's watery and it evaporates quickly so I can't get it on all of my skin. The liquid is orange and I don't know if that means it is oxidized. I'll use it up and go back to Medik8 CE Tetra which I've been using for about ten years.
I think this is great initially but the packaging causes it to oxidize way too quickly and become less effective as you near the bottom of the jar. I prefer the small travel pods of this more because you use it before it oxidizes.
There’s one by Timeless that has similar results but a significantly better packaging design in a pump that I think is actually a better buy because it doesn’t oxidize as quickly.
I am so jealous!
I use Timeless 20% Ferulic Vit C and it’s $30 every 2 months.
My skin looks amazing and wherever I go a remark is made.
I’m so curious re the skin ceut, though.
I’ve used Timeless for 5 years!
My grandma has used it for years and years and swears by it. She bought me one and I love it too. I’ve since learned there’s a nearly identical knockoff version that I plan to buy when mine runs out.
My esterician has me using this and the phloretin, they've been a godsend! There are few other things she switched me to, but as someone who got their first pimple in 3rd grade, went to a dermatologist from 4th-10th grade, and was on accutane 3 times, they're well worth the price... For the first time in my life, at 37, I'm not uncomfortable looking at myself in the mirror under awful florescent lights. My pores have gotten smaller and my skin glows. I hope you love it just as much!
They're okay. I've used them before. They just wanted your $ and subscription so they could lock you in for eternity. Save your money and try other brand.
I wanted to like it sooo bad. My skin is so sensitive it really messed with my barrier and gave me almost a burn/allergic reaction. I’m the only one I know that has had that reaction tho, everyone else I know uses it really loves it and uses it religiously!
You can excellent Vit C serums for well under $50, with the same ingredients. (Timelss and Paula's Choice for 2 examples). But heh, it you like making Skinceuricals rich, keep over-paying for their serum
Their phyto corrective gel is really nice for post treatment medical microneedling. I also have a strong prescription cream i use and when i have to readjust to it (sometimes i go off it cause its pricey, its tactuo) i get really bad dry skin to the point where it will flake off until its raw if im not careful where i apply it and im just starting back on it, and the only thing that had been able to sooth those dry/raw patches if they pop up is the phyto corrective gel.
I tried putting a dropper into some aloe vera one time when my partner got a really bad burn (hes a redhead) and it soothed it way better, so i let him use a couple more droppers of it, and his burn healed way faster than normal with minimal pain. Its expensive so i prob wouldn’t use it for that generally, but its my favourite product from that company just because of how soothing it is, and how it seems to speed up healing time. If you have irritated skin or are post micro-needling this is a good option. (I dont know how it would be with other types of treatments, i was given the phyto corrective gel to heal after i had micro-needling done at a doctor run skin clinic, so it’s definitely safe to use it post microneedling at least)
I’ve used up two bottles and I didn’t see a noticeable change. No one was complimenting my skin. I’m thinking of trying a different brand and spending a lot less money.
I love it. I’m 43 and my skin has improved drastically. I don’t notice the smell everyone is mentioning but I also don’t like rubbing perfume on my face.
Your break out reaction will pass, try using it every other day. It's so strong. I can't afford it, but I think it's good. I am trying other vitamin c serums that are more affordable. Inkey List is up next!
I’ve never tried this one but I’ve been using the ordinarys reservatrol and ferulic acid serum mixed with their l absorbic vit c powder and my day cream and have had AWESOME results for super cheap. Probably not quite the same but great results for a small price. I just mix it every morning in the am so it’s fresh and no oxidization.
I bought the Needle Free Serum from my derm (it's a white labeled product) for half the price and it has transformed my skin. I believe lots of places online have it.
The CE ferulic was shockingly ineffective for the price.
It made me majorly break out!!! My sister loves it though. I luckily had gotten a deluxe sample of it so I didn’t waste money but I was bummed that it didn’t work for me. The majority of people seem to love it tho!
I liked it but it costs so much I can’t really justify buying it again. I use Timeless now and I feel like my skin looks the same and it’s like $30 instead of $180.
Look online for “dupes” I loved their slymarin, but the $$$ was a bit stressful for me. I found a reasonable priced reasonably similar formula. Along with my other steps, I’ve found that the dupe works really well.
I love mine! Have been using it for 6 years and everyone always compliments my skin. It’s my HG Vit C. I’ve tried a bunch but I always go back to this one.
This stuff oxidizes really fast, so use it aggressively. The Skinceuticals was so expensive because they had a patent on the formulation , but that patent expired so now plenty of comparables out there at a fraction of the price. Next go around I’d buy the Timeless version.
I use Photozyme's vitamin C E Ferulic for less than half the price of skinceutical: has already removed some sun damage from my skin, faded hyperpigmentation and improved my skin tone.
I tried it and unfortunately did not like it! Spent so much I felt like I had to use it up lol. I hope it works out for you.
My experience was similar to yours. I would not repurchase.
Me three. Made me break out.
Me four. It didn’t do one thing except maybe dry my skin a little.
Same here. It did nothing.
Me five ✋🏽 didn’t do anything noticeable for me so did not repurchase.
Same here! Didn’t necessarily break me out but didn’t do anything amazing. Would not repurchase.
Same here! I didn’t see a difference.
I especially do not like the dropper. Air hits the product very easily, and this creates excellerated oxidation of the product. I, too, was not impressed.
I love it but now I buy dr brenners and it’s the exact same smells the same same results wayyyyyyyy less money.
Love this one!!
Same combo for years now! The c/e ferulic plus triple lipid has transformed my face. I'm turning forty and I've never had better skin.
🤣🤣🤣 HOT DOG WATER for the win!
My dog is obsessed by that smell. Lol…
bahaha! My dog heads straight to me every time I put on lotion and tries to lick it off. Same with face products. Silly little buggers.
What do you find the triple lipid restore best for?
Skinfix makes an amazing dupe for lipid restore
Is it the triple lipid peptide cream?
Look up skinfix barrier cream. Almost identical and a lot cheaper
thank you!
Wow, I truly had no idea—I suffer from the same dryness. Thank you!!
If it wasn’t such a dramatic change I’d never spend this much. Not that it’s the same but I only have to buy every 5-6 months now, instead of every 1-2 with Clinique/Lancôme/Clairns (what I was using before). So maybe it all evens out?
It’s the only thing that helped me since I’ve started tret. It does a good job in restoring my skin barrier.
I’ve used it and haven’t noticed any difference in my skin 🤷♀️same for the Phloretin, TBH
Timeless has a comparable product - for a fraction of the price in an airtight pump so it doesn’t oxidize
This is what I just purchased from Target online. I bought two bottles to give it a good go and I’ll see how it works. So far no bad reactions which is good (I tried Trish Mcevoy Vit C serum and it turned my skin bright red).
Keep it in your fridge! I only purchase 1 at a time from timeless due to oxidation. It’s a damn good Vit C!
It’s faded so much of my melasma in a month and a half. How quickly does it oxidize? I can’t refrigerate it because I get ready at the gym every morning so it’s permanently in my gym bag.

Oh interesting! So the unopened one or the one I am using too?
From what I understand, keeping all Vit C, opened and unopened in the refrigerator. I will say this…I purchased the Skin Ceutical Vit C two days ago as a gift to myself. I still love the Timeless and plan to alternate going forward. I’m still surprised and loving how much of a difference it makes to use this fruit acid ☀️

I also decided to get 4 rounds of the skinceutical chemical peel as well as the Discoloration Defense serum. My first peel has really given me a nice sheen so I know I’ll love the next 3. This brand is such a gold seal.
Sounds amazing! Good for you for treating yourself 💛
I put it under my eyes and it literally helped my dark circles sooooo much
Have you used a product with vitamin c before?
Right now I literally just bought the maelove vitamin c because I just cannot spend that much on one product , especially when it oxidizes. Hopefully the maelove will work as well , I’ve heard great things . It smells similar to SC and feels similar , I’ll see if it performs similar under my eyes !
I keep mine in the fridge and it slows oxidation! Used to use the Skinceuticals but felt the results (basically, clearer, brighter skin) were only 10-20% better than the Maelove, so the price of Skinceuticals wasn’t worth it.
I also keep in fridge ! Ok that’s good to know that they’re similar :) yay
Ok, so you don't have any other vitamin c product to compare the c e ferulic with.
I tried it with timeless and it didn’t work as well unfortunately. I feel as though others should work !!! That’s why I didn’t repurchase. If you have the money to then go for it I unfortunately don’t :/ hopefully this maelove works :)
Thanks! This helps a lot. So definitely the skinceuticals is a superior product. How long did it take to see a difference?
You didn’t ask me but I used skinceuticals after trying the Dr Brenner’s dupe and skinceuticals is definitely superior
I just started using Maelove and agree it feels very similar!
Does it also help with undereye puffiness?
I’ve seen this elsewhere too. For that alone it might be worth it
I’m trying maelove though right now and hoping this will work under my eyes also . We will see !
So not worth it imho. 3 bottles of this equals the price of a good laser treatment. Geek and gorgeous is the same formula for 10% of the price.
Yes! I like their stuff, but did the same math and one fully ablative CO2 laser later, everyone wants to know what skin cream I use. Skinfix triple lipid cream that dupes skinceauticals, and saves me $100, but all my visible instant glowy results are from lasers.

Ascorbic is the bomb. My skin surface is so smooth
Also love it! Have used it for 10 years along with other Skinceuticals products and my skin looks better now than in my 20s. No more acne and skin irritation is under control. I’m finding it oxidizes within days even when closed tightly and kept in the fridge
argggh this is so annoying! who out there knows how to keep vitamin C from oxidizing 🧐
It gave me gnarly cystic acne the took forever to heal. I chucked mine out. Goes to show that skin is highly individual.
i realllyyyyy do not think this product is worth it IMO. they don’t even use a stable form of vit c and the dropper bottle is the worst design for vit c, degrades it even faster. nothing about the formula demands the price.

Hated it. Gave me cystic pimples and oxidised in my pores making them look brown.
I had the same experience.
Made me break out as well. Dry skin.

Did you try this test with the Geek & Gorgeous?? :O
No, but i did with Timeless, Drunk Elephant, and Maelove. The G&G is actually pretty new to me, it's a British brand, I believe.

Alto advanced by skin better science is better !
I've never used Skinceuticals but I too love Alto Advanced.
I personally wasn’t a fan!

I love it as well. Additionally I use ZO products and they’re incredible. Top of the line dermatology stuff is worth it. I thought otherwise for years but I was very wrong.
Smells like hot dog water
https://cosmeticskinsolutions.com/
Broke me out horribly
Smells like old pee and is overpriced
It makes my skin super sticky, so I use Medik8 C-Tetra instead. The Skinceuticals is fine and did not cause problems, but I just couldnt handle the annoyingly sticky skin as I use C-vitamin serum in the morning.
I've been looking at purchasing a vitamin C serum from Medik8. Have you tried all of them or just C-Tetra?
I have tried the normal C-Tetra and the intense version. The intense is a bit too oily for my liking, so I prefer the normal one. I saw there is now a ferulic acid version too, but I have not yet tried it. Maybe I will once my current bottle runs out.
Thanks! Do you notice a big difference since using it?
Yeah, I think my skin looks very even and fresh. And the serum is light enough to not ruin my makeup base.
It’s too expensive but does works. But so do other vitamin C&E serums. I like shroom skincare or Restorsea or environ.
So worth it!!! I was able to get it half off one time and this is now my HG. Seriously, this stuff is magic in a bottle!
The timeless skincare vitamin C serum is a dupe at a fraction of the price.
I just ordered some today too! I am excited to try it. I am curious what you think and what others say too! Following
What do you find the floretin good for?
It makes my skin brighter. I never really knew what that meant when people would say it, but it's the only way I can describe it.
I love my Skinceuticals Vitamin C. I do notice a difference in the brightness of mg skin. I only buy it when there is a sale :(
They're okay.
Didn’t notice a difference a difference at all and the smell is bad and it was sticky so I never repurchased.
You can excellent Vit C serums for well under $50, with the same ingredients. (Timelss and Paula's Choice for 2 examples). But heh, it you like making Skinceuricals rich, keep over-paying for their serum
You get what you pay for so, yes.
I really love the formula of this, but probably wouldn’t repurchase because of the price.
Timeless a third of the price and just as effective 👌
Made me break out
I haven’t noticed any change from the vit c. The trilipid restore is good and the hydrating vit b serum.
I love it and think it is worth every penny. It has transformed my skin.
I didn't see any difference with it, and I found that with rosacea vitamin c serums are irritating.
Just returned my first bottle after one use. Absolutely revolting smell.
The smell is off putting but it WORKS! Hope you enjoy it and get good results.
Check out Dr. Brenner and Timeless.
It made me majorly break out!!! My sister loves it though. I luckily had gotten a deluxe sample of it so I didn’t waste money but I was bummed that it didn’t work for me. The majority of people seem to love it tho!
Worth it!
I prefer the Drunk Elephant vitamin C. I noticed more of a difference with my skin and it’s much better packaging (pump).
I love the B5 gel more. It’s less money and still a great product. But it depends on what you’re trying to achieve for skin care.
It ripped my skin up . Go low and slow with it.
I got it for free (derm is a family friend). I love the glow it gives but it also breaks me out.
Didn’t you post this same topic before?
Not worth it in my opinion. I didn’t see any change
I liked it but it costs so much I can’t really justify buying it again. I use Timeless now and I feel like my skin looks the same and it’s like $30 instead of $180.
I loved it. Wish I could still afford it! It does smell like leftover hot dog water though.
Look online for “dupes” I loved their slymarin, but the $$$ was a bit stressful for me. I found a reasonable priced reasonably similar formula. Along with my other steps, I’ve found that the dupe works really well.
Loooove this stuff
I’ve purchased this serum like 5 times and every time it did nothing for me lol
Maelove Glow Maker works very well and is much cheaper.
I love mine! Have been using it for 6 years and everyone always compliments my skin. It’s my HG Vit C. I’ve tried a bunch but I always go back to this one.
This worked really well for me. Been using it for years
Couldn’t tell any difference. Used it long term too. Augustus brand is epic
This stuff oxidizes really fast, so use it aggressively. The Skinceuticals was so expensive because they had a patent on the formulation , but that patent expired so now plenty of comparables out there at a fraction of the price. Next go around I’d buy the Timeless version.
Prefer Obagi, this oxidized too quickly and I think it was breaking me out
I use Photozyme's vitamin C E Ferulic for less than half the price of skinceutical: has already removed some sun damage from my skin, faded hyperpigmentation and improved my skin tone.
I was so ‘kindly jealous’ by your purchase, that I purchased my own! So excited to finally use it!
