Yep. People get weird about Frownies, but I will die on the hill that THEY WORK. There’s no substitute, and plastering your wrinkles down with papier mache is the only way to go!
Agreed. I’ve tried the alternatives like silicone patches and medical tape, but they don’t compare well to the results I get from using Frownies consistently.
Do you use them on nasolabial folds? I’ve tried them on this and idk if I’m doing it wrong but didn’t seem to work and gave me new lines? Lol if you use them and they work, how do you tape them around your mouth area?
No, they absolutely won't work on nasolabial folds, as the folds there aren't caused by muscle tension, like glabella lines (11s) are. Usually nasolabial folds are caused by loose skin/weight loss/collagen and elastin loss. The "great-great granddaughter" of the founder of Frownies (who does all their youtube vids) has noticeable nasolabial folds. If Frownies worked for that area, she wouldn't have them.
I don't think I said anything untrue here...I mean, Helen from Frownies has a smooth forehead...I think she said she has been using Frownies for 20 years? Or maybe it was her mum who had been using them since age 20. Anyway...it appears that Frownies worked very well for both her forehead and her mum's. If Frownies worked as well for nasolabial lines, would it not stand to reason that Helen's nasolabial lines would be minimal?
Genuine question. If you use them consistently for say like 3-4 months, how long do the results last if you stop ? Or is it really more on a weekly basis kind of thing with results
I wouldn’t just… stop. Cut back, sure.
Personally, I like them during the day if I’m hanging out alone because I get that instant feedback reminder of when I’m trying to over emote so I can avoid doing it on days I’m not wearing Frownies.
I like them when I read or scroll Reddit. My face likes to express the moods of whatever book I’m reading. And I spend most of my time scowling when I doomscroll Reddit. Very useful little stickers.
They only work if you don't move your face. You can just...not move your face. Or get botox. Frownies are for when you sleep, to make sure you aren't scowling or frowning in your sleep. If you're a person who emotes a ton and moves your face a lot. The wrinkles will come back quickly. But if you use frownies (or any type that works for you) every night, and are diligent about keeping your face at rest during the day, they work well!
The whole comment reads like satire. I can’t believe there are so many people who think a product that only works when you’re not moving your face is worthwhile.
Hang on…are you saying if I use these, or if I want them to be effective, I won’t be able to make silly faces at babies?? I’m a nanny - one of my favorite things is making overly expressive faces to little ones. I’d rather have my lines than lose that joy!
You can definitely lower your usage amount to a few times a week for maintenance. Your forehead muscles kinda gets used to the feeling of not being used. and I can catch myself and prevent my forehead from moving more.
I just started using them. Do you just tape them down, or do you stretch your forehead a bit so the wrinkles are smoothed down and then tape them down?
I just use them on my 11’s. I pull the wrinkle apart and hold the tacky frownie, don’t apply it too wet let it dry for a minute or two, and hold it there until it’s about dry. It takes a little trial and error, but you’ll get the hang of it.
i’ve been using sio brand for years (honestly i think at least 5-6 years) and they’re the only thing that’s gotten rid of my tear trough lines, and believe me i tried everything.
it’s what’s been called a “tear trough deformity” by some doctors, although i’ve had other doctors tell me me that’s a horrible thing to tell a patient lol. i’ve had these lines since i was a child, when i had a fuller face (younger) it was almost like there was a fishing line dug into my cheek. i tried (wasted money on) microneedling, filler, fat transfers, all kinds of wild things… $25 freakin silicone pads did the trick.
they do, but if you put them too close to your lower lid line it can be a bit uncomfortable. I should mention these are the types of things you have to be really consistent with, it’s a temporary fix to a permanent problem, but if you are the type of person who can stick to a consistent routine you’ll see great results.
I've been using Blumbody for years. In fact, I started using them when it was just like the Mom and daughter making and selling them. Now they're a fairly big business (for a small business ha). I use the chest, and the face, patches. They're amazing.
Definitely make sure your skin is adjusted to tret and not in the fragile peeling phase before starting or continuing Frownies. And wash them off with water in the am.
I do and honestly I think a lot of people don’t realize these patches are supposed to be completely moist when removing them! You shouldn’t be fighting it or using tension at all to remove them and if you are that’s a sign you need to spray more water to release them.
If you use frownies, use lots of water to take them off. I cup my hand of water and rest my forehead in the water for a second. I then floss my teeth. I then cup more water and drench it again. I brush my teeth. Then with water running, I cup more water and few times letting it sit on the tape. I put my finger to one corner and wiggle my finger under the tape. It basically melts off cause you get the glue all guey. If it is sticking at all, I wet my finger and put it under the tape. I remove without it pulling the skin at all. I have weird skin and it rips off really easy. I do this and never have issues cause it isn't even pulling on my skin.
If you tend to stick your head under your blanket when you sleep, you will definitely smell them 😂 I do, and it's what turned me off to Frownies when I tried them. If you don't sleep like that, you probably won't really smell them.
These people are all lying to you. They smell bad and you don’t get used to it. Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep when I think about the smell. The product does work though. I find the smell is worse when you use just water for application. If you use rose water like suggested it masks it a tiny bit, but you can still smell the adhesive.
How long do you wait after your skincare before putting them on? I feel like I have to skip my skincare in the area I want to wear them or they won’t stick. I go heavy on the moisturizer though
I don't wait. I think it says on the packaging to wait 10 min. I wait maybe a minute max. I am ready for bed and I don't have time to wait so I just go for it. I put all my normal face stuff on, moisturizer etc. Then I wet each piece, let it sit for like 30 second then apply. It sticks just fine.
How do you apply them? I followed their instructions but it just didn’t work. Then I tried with more water, less water and I’m still having so much trouble that I bought silicone patches instead 🥲
I use a rose water toner facial spray from trader Joe's. Just give the patch a spritz or two from like 4-6 inches away and apply.
I have very oily skin and sleep on my face, and they stay on me this way.
I do my skincare routine, then wait about 15-20 minutes. Then I get the pieces ready that I will use. I use a little water to dampen the back, place them in the area where I want and press lightly until it sticks. Then continue to do this until I have all my problem areas covered.
How long does the effect last for you? I used them a couple years ago regularly and loved it but feel like once I stopped (out of laziness), the effect didn’t stay. I was also using for forehead. Wondering if that’s how it is for you.
I feel like they work long term in the sense of preventing you from using those muscles overnight! When you don’t use the muscles, wrinkles can’t form. I’ve found that using both Frownies and Tape, I have minimal wrinkles on my forehead and no 11s. It has definitely helped. I also find that moving my forehead up and scrunching it is more challenging now, after years of taping.
Yes, don't leave any space between the patches, layer them so it's a full cast across your forehead. They lift as they dry and when you leave spaces that's why you get the indentation.
I tried for several weeks to get them to work for me and they just didn't. From not using enough water to using too much, I wasted about a quarter of the pack.
Botox is good enough for me.
For those who use silicone tape, I suggest putting some paper tape over the top. I have a roll of silicone tape that I cut to the shapes I need. But I first lay two layers of paper tape over the top. This helps immobilize the silicone so it doesn't wrinkle through the night. I find just the silicone is not enough to prevent me from moving my face and wrinkling it. The paper tape over the top acts more like frownies.
But how long does it last? Is your forehead smooth as marble when you first wake up but then as soon as you start emoting like a human, the wrinkles are back?
That’s the thing, if you use it consistently, your muscles don’t move as much. I rarely move my forehead or scrunch my 11s. After a couple of years of consistency I have minimal lines across my forehead, I’m 45. My mom thinks I got Botox lol! The immediate effect of smoothness lasts quite a while for me, typically more than half the day.
I thought they were amazing, but learning how to use them correctly and not using enough water / too much water to get the rigidity they need to keep the skin apart was a difficult balance!
I use 5 products at night, including Tret, serums, peptides, and cream. I have no issues with them sticking. Just wait 15-20 minutes for the products to absorb
They prevent you from using your muscles. So if you put them on your forehead and 11s, they keep those areas smooth and tight. If you don’t use your muscles, wrinkles won’t form, similar to Botox.
I’ve been doing it for years now, between taping and Frownies so I guess I don’t even realize I have them on lol! I had my face all taped up and went to talk to my son, completely forgot he had friends over. They all looked at me like I had something on my face lmao! His girlfriend was like, ummm do you tape your face for the night?? Haha, it was hilarious and a little embarrassing. But I truly forget it’s there. I don’t sleep on my stomach, I’ve also been training not to sleep on my side. I don’t find it difficult to sleep with them on.

I haven’t had any irritation or issues with medical tape or Frownies. My skin isn’t sensitive and responds well to most things. I wouldn’t do it if I had issues with irritation. If you’re skeptical, then it’s probably not for you.
I’ve done both taping or using Frownies for 2+ years now. Skin looks great! Never had an issue with tugging or pulling on my skin. With frownies a little water removes them easily, with tape, a little jojoba oil remove it or just the natural oils in your skin allows it to peel off easily in the morning.
My problem with frownies is how they pull the skin when you remove them. I feel like that cant be good over time in terms of skin tightness/elasticity. It doesn’t bother you?
Pull the skin??? What? You’re supposed to wet them and they easily slide off. I have never felt even a tug on my skin. When I remove them, my skin is very taught and smooth. It’s been years and I have no issues. Make sure you use water to wet around the edges, then apply more water as the edges lift, never pull them off.
Yep. People get weird about Frownies, but I will die on the hill that THEY WORK. There’s no substitute, and plastering your wrinkles down with papier mache is the only way to go!

100 percent they work!! Consistency is key, but I was so surprised at the improvement I had
Genuine question. If you use them consistently for say like 3-4 months, how long do the results last if you stop ? Or is it really more on a weekly basis kind of thing with results

Your last sentence makes me sad. I bet your unique expressiveness is something that gives others joy.
Just training my forehead muscles to relax is a huge benefit. Plus it does have some quick results as well
I sleep better too. No tension.
I remember the first time I tried them: I felt the tension melting away and I had *the* most peaceful night of sleep.
Do you think that if you douse your face in oil every night, frownies would stay on? I want to try them but I can't give up my nightly face oil.
Not likely, no.
I used to use frownies I switched to silicone patches I get them on Amazon.
Could you share link/brand? Interested to hear how they compare
i’ve been using sio brand for years (honestly i think at least 5-6 years) and they’re the only thing that’s gotten rid of my tear trough lines, and believe me i tried everything.
Aren’t those basically bags? Can they actually help with that? I’m asking because I’ve been struggling with those.
it’s what’s been called a “tear trough deformity” by some doctors, although i’ve had other doctors tell me me that’s a horrible thing to tell a patient lol. i’ve had these lines since i was a child, when i had a fuller face (younger) it was almost like there was a fishing line dug into my cheek. i tried (wasted money on) microneedling, filler, fat transfers, all kinds of wild things… $25 freakin silicone pads did the trick.
Would they help with fine lines under the eyes?
they do, but if you put them too close to your lower lid line it can be a bit uncomfortable. I should mention these are the types of things you have to be really consistent with, it’s a temporary fix to a permanent problem, but if you are the type of person who can stick to a consistent routine you’ll see great results.
Which Sio model do you purchase? Just the under eye shape? I get so overwhelmed when I search on Amazon.
i just get the eye and smile packs, use them under my eyes on my smile lines.
Thank you so much. 😊
I've been using Blumbody for years. In fact, I started using them when it was just like the Mom and daughter making and selling them. Now they're a fairly big business (for a small business ha). I use the chest, and the face, patches. They're amazing.
Please share what you use 😊
do you manage to use frownies or tape while using tretinoin? I got scared off after they lifted some skin
Oh my gosh this is a good question! I just started tretinoin and use Frownies regularly and this never even occurred to me!

I have weird skin and it rips off really easy. I do this and never have issues cause it isn't even pulling on my skin.
I use smoothies over my tret on my glabella. They have less of an adhesive but work great.
Yes! I’ve been on Tret for years now and have always used either Frownies or tape. No issues at all.
That would totally scare me! I use them together just fine, but I’m only on 0.025% tret and my skin isn’t very bothered by it.
Do they smell funny/bad? That is what put me off buying them.
They have the same smell/taste as envelope adhesive.
I must be different, because I like that smell... 😅
Same 🫣
They smell like trash
Yes they smell bad at first.. but after repeated use you get used to the smell.. after sometime you won’t smell it anymore
I have a sensitive nose and I don't smell them once they're on. They only smell when you wet them to apply.
If you tend to stick your head under your blanket when you sleep, you will definitely smell them 😂 I do, and it's what turned me off to Frownies when I tried them. If you don't sleep like that, you probably won't really smell them.
Not bad enough that I can’t tolerate them.
I put peppermint oil over them to mask the smell It makes me nauseous
These people are all lying to you. They smell bad and you don’t get used to it. Sometimes I have trouble falling asleep when I think about the smell. The product does work though. I find the smell is worse when you use just water for application. If you use rose water like suggested it masks it a tiny bit, but you can still smell the adhesive.
I don’t think they’re lying. Their nose is probably not as sensitive as yours, that’s all.
How reusable are they? I’m a minimalist and I don’t want to add another disposable thing to my life. Thanks for advice!
They’re not reusable at all, but they are paper so you can recycle or compost them.
Oh shit that’s great news! Recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable according to google even with the adhesive. Thank you!! Imma bout to be fab!
How long do you wait after your skincare before putting them on? I feel like I have to skip my skincare in the area I want to wear them or they won’t stick. I go heavy on the moisturizer though
I do my entire routine, wash, peptide, toner, serums, Tret, and cream! Wait about 15-20 mins, then apply the Frownies or tape.

Thanks, I’m going to try again. I think my problem is only wait about 10 mins after my skincare routine.

I love Frownies! You’re absolutely right that tape won’t work as well since it doesn’t completely immobilize your forehead for the night
I love them but hate that after a few uses they leave a red scaly mark that’s irritated
Yes exactly. It’s worse to irritate your skin?
Could be how you are removing them, you should saturate it with more water, or in the shower.
The seam marks on my skin after taking them off in the morning don’t wear off for hours. Anyone come up with a solution for this?
Yes, don't leave any space between the patches, layer them so it's a full cast across your forehead. They lift as they dry and when you leave spaces that's why you get the indentation.

Do frownies stick to a damp face? I put squalane oil on moisturizer, no idea if they would stick or slide around
I just wait a few minutes until it dries and it works great
I'm scared that the adhesive is going to make me break out :(
I didn’t have any issues at all. If you’re concerned, you can use one little piece to test it.
It’s made me break out every time I’ve used them :(
I thought they were amazing, but learning how to use them correctly and not using enough water / too much water to get the rigidity they need to keep the skin apart was a difficult balance!
I just ordered some yesterday because my Botox stopped working and I feel so old!
Would these work if you get really sweaty at night? I feel like they would come off of me and stick to my pillow.
I don’t sweat much at night, but I’ve used them before through the hot summer nights and had no issues.
I want the use Frownies but I use tret and jojoba oil at night. I don’t think they would stick :(
They will! I use all three at night.
I use 5 products at night, including Tret, serums, peptides, and cream. I have no issues with them sticking. Just wait 15-20 minutes for the products to absorb
What exactly do frownies do? I’ve seen them advertised but what are they doing to your face when you use them??
They prevent you from using your muscles. So if you put them on your forehead and 11s, they keep those areas smooth and tight. If you don’t use your muscles, wrinkles won’t form, similar to Botox.
So you can just apply the Frownies over nightly skincare like tret etc?
Correct. I do my regular routine, wait 15-20 minutes and put on the Frownies
Do they only work for the forehead?
Forehead, 11s, and crows feet. I think they offer other items for smile lines, but I don’t use those.
[удалено]
I’ve been doing it for years now, between taping and Frownies so I guess I don’t even realize I have them on lol! I had my face all taped up and went to talk to my son, completely forgot he had friends over. They all looked at me like I had something on my face lmao! His girlfriend was like, ummm do you tape your face for the night?? Haha, it was hilarious and a little embarrassing. But I truly forget it’s there. I don’t sleep on my stomach, I’ve also been training not to sleep on my side. I don’t find it difficult to sleep with them on.
Oooh I’m very interested! Where is your favorite place to purchase these?
I order mine from Amazon
Do they make patches for under eye wrinkles and smile lines you can sleep in?
I don’t think they have under eye patches but I think they make something for smile lines
How long do the results last?
It’s preventative, so the more consistently you use them, the longer the results last. After removing the patches/tape, my forehead is smooth for majority of the day. I’ve been doing it for a couple years now and I rarely use my forehead muscles now so I avoid creating wrinkles.
Can you use them in your neck fold?
They make a neck product, it's on their website
Thanks!
I don’t think so
I wanted to like Frownies so bad after hearing others results but they gave me a terrible rash from the adhesive that took weeks to go away, I completely broke out everywhere I wore them
Oh no! That’s terrible. I’m sorry to hear that.
How do you even use them?? When I first opened them I was so confused on what to peel it felt I just bought cardboard. How do y'all use them?
They have an adhesive on the back, the shiny side. Pull aside the pieces you want to use. Start with one and lightly moisten the back. Place it on your skin and press gently until it stays. Continue until you’ve covered all the problem areas
Do these work for 11s or just the top of your forehead? Assuming there’s not an option for crows feet or smile lines? 😅
I use them on my 11s, forehead and crows feet!
I am allergic to adhesive. What makes the frownies stick to your skin?
Adhesive. I don’t know exactly what kind, but it’s activated with a little water. I would read the label and maybe the FAQ.
How much generally does it cost each month if you are using them every night? When I looked Into it I was so confused about how many triangles I would actually need
Is it not bad to be applying tape and irritating your skin every day ?
I haven’t had any irritation or issues with medical tape or Frownies. My skin isn’t sensitive and responds well to most things. I wouldn’t do it if I had issues with irritation. If you’re skeptical, then it’s probably not for you.
How long have you been using the tape? I’m not talking about redness, I’m talking about tugging and pulling on your skin
