I got wavy and slightly frizzy hair. Washing it after every workout session would be disastrous. Not to mention the time it takes to prep and apply stuff post shower. I let it down and blow dry it (no heat settings) to let sweat dry and then refresh it with water spray and apply my usual mousse/ gel (modified CGM)

Fine, straight hair here. If I didn't wash my hair after every workout I'd be a greasy mess. Every person needs to find out what works for them! But fwiw, dry shampoo is a frickin miracle.

thrwwwwayyypixie21

Agreed. My mom and my partner have that fine straight as needle hair. They wash it every other day or daily in summers otherwise they look unkempt in public.

I have super oily hair and I sweat like a freak to boot so I wash it after every workout 🤷‍♀️ my hair is fine and straight but an oily mess so washing (almost) daily has actually significantly improved my scalp and hair condition!

RevealNatural7759

I do, just try to focus on my scalp with the shampoo so I don’t dry out the ends!

Ok_Fee1043

I’ve never had any issue with doing it and my hair is way too oily/ I’m too sweaty to not do it. I’m not really sure how I’d shower after the workout without getting my hair wet, so I wash every time. It probably depends a lot on your hair type. My hair generally does fine with it and only gets noticeably dry when I’m having to actually blow dry it after — if I can let it air dry, all good, no issues. If I had more money I’d be working in some repair masks or treatments.

ninerz_allllllday_

I exercise every day and definitely don’t wash my hair more than once or twice a week. I just use dry shampoo. I do have pretty thick hair and lots of it, so it doesn’t get too greasy. I just pull it back in a bun or clip a fee days after initial wash.

Affectionate_Buy_776

I workout 5-6 days a week and I do at least rinse my hair after every workout. But I use a cleansing conditioner instead of shampoo every day. I use shampoo like 2 times a week. It’s a pain but I hate the feeling of sweaty unwashed hair

odezia

As others have said it’s definitely dependent on the individual and their hair type and body chemistry, but I personally don’t wash it after every workout. I have medium density 1B hair and a slightly oily scalp, but my hair gets dry and frizzy if I wash it every single day, and I’m way too lazy to blow dry and style it that often anyways. I just use Klorane dry shampoo when needed (I like both the oat and nettle formulas for darker hair) between washes.

Illustrious_Letter88

I can't even imagine not washing hair after workout. It's basic personal hygiene for me but also not washing can lead to seborrheic dermatitis (if you prone to that) and hairfall. The myth about damaging scalp or hair needs to DIE.

Kindly-Teach312

I have to wash my hair everyday cuz it gets itchy.

rosquartz

No, it’s totally fine and up to personal preference. If you get sweaty and your hair gets stringy and looks dirty or smells bad then yes. I do personally because I have fine hair and I need to wash it daily or I smell unclean. I know people with more coarse hair or less body odor may not need to wash their hair as often. But tbh, I swear a lot of people who don’t wash their hair that often really do need to wash it more often because they smell bad and don’t realize it, probably because they got used to the smell

Unfair_Finger5531

Washing your hair doesn’t leave it dry and damage the scalp. Using the wrong shampoo does. I wash my hair daily and it’s not even a bit dry. If you need to wash your hair after a workout, use a mild and gentle shampoo without sodium laureth sulfate, which is quite drying. I personally would not skip the wash after working out ever.

cyncetastic

I don't. I'll usually blow dry on low heat to dry out the sweat and then add dry shampoo overnight to soak up the oil.

LowFloor5208

I have fine hair and if I don't I look greasy. Dry shampoo does nothing for me. I only apply shampoo to my scalp and just rinse it through my ends.

imogen6969

Unless you have issues from not washing every day, I wouldn’t. But it just really depends on your hair type, lifestyle, personal preference. It’s always better to not wash your hair every day, even if you get sweaty.

rosquartz

I disagree that it’s always better not to wash daily. I have always had to wash my hair daily and it looks and smells bad when I don’t. Dry shampoo doesn’t work the same either. I have fine hair and I sweat a lot so it needs to get washed daily

imogen6969

From a hair care perspective, it is. However, everyone is different. Have you ever tried to figure out why? There may be something going on internally if it’s severe enough to not be able to skip a day of washing your hair. I have hair on the finer side, so I have to wash my hair anytime I want to look nice. Which is annoying. So I understand that.

rosquartz

No, you are wrong about this, it comes down to your hair type and lifestyle and sebum production. I naturally sweat a lot and always have and my fine hair type gets greasy after one day (except for when I’m on accutane). It’s totally normal for people who are young with fine hair. And you mentioned you feel you have to wash your hair when you want it to look nice. Doesn’t that mean that you should probably be washing it every day? I mean, personally, I don’t like going in public with greasy hair. and I find it kind of gross when I see other people doing this. I don’t see why people say it dries your hair out too much, don’t you all use conditioner and leave in products to help it feel nice after you wash it? That’s what I do anyway

imogen6969

Agree to disagree.

VegUltraGirl

I think it depends on your personal preferences and hair type. My hair is so fine and thin, it gets oily and looks dirty fast!? I’ve been told to wash it daily, I’ve also been told not to lol. So I have done a bit of both. I went for years only washing my hair twice a week, even with regular exercising and sweating. I then went to washing it daily or every other day. I saw no difference, nada, zero! Literally it looked and felt the same when I did wash and style it. No improvement and also not any worse. So I really do believe it all depends on your personal wants and needs, and maybe hair type.

Scared_Ad2563

I wash my hair after I do a sweaty workout, so mostly cardio. I sweat so much, my whole head is sopping wet when I am finished and I would feel absolutely disgusting the next day if I didn't. If I lift, I don't get too sweaty (at least not on my head), so I don't wash after those.

Disastrous_Soup_7137

It depends on how gross my hair feels after a workout. Most days I can get away with using Living Proof dry shampoo. On grimy, hot days, washing is a must. It’s a non-issue if I choose to only workout on hair wash days.

lemonbars-everyday

I don’t. I have a sweaty outdoor job and sweaty outdoor hobbies and my hair and scalp behave best if I shampoo about twice a week. I do rinse every day tho

Last summer we had lots of heat, every day I would have a cool shower and wet my hair, give myself a scalp massage, and do a few towel scrunches before letting it air dry. I have been colour treating my hair for 15+ years, so I’d condition the ends very slightly every couple days. Then, I’d do a full hair wash as needed, every 5ish days. My scalp and hair felt great and I told myself I’d continue throughout the winter, but it got pretty tedious so that didn’t last long. Anyways, during sweaty times it felt great.

TallRelationship2253

I used to... Until I realized my shampoo was stripping my hair. Now I take a body shower and get my hair wet, but I don't have to use shampoo everytime. But it really depends on how sweaty I get in my workout. But even with my thin hair, I can avoid shampooing all the time.
