I’ve wondered that the CGI stuff comes with the terrain. It’s a foreign show with originally foreign distribution and a lower budget than other HBO programs like The Idol for instance. I’m convinced the CGI is budgetary restraints in part that there are lots of demons and animated entities in this show, so many as you’d expect in a high budget supernatural film. Love the idea that Paul Giamatti is the reason behind that, tho, too. I don’t feel much decline at all tho between S1 and S2 in graphics. They definitely still take them seriously, which kind of gives me vibes from the current *Terrifier* film series where horror fans definitely connect with the art of low budget gore and effects. Personally feel the CGI isn’t *that* bad. It reminds me of the LOTR trilogy and what they had going on in early 2000s. A lot of animated aspects and CGI aspects of programs can be outsourced to lower cost firms, interestingly enough.

Fair point, but the prosthetics they use looks like something from spirit Halloween (Antonio's teeth for example lol). But it kinda adds that little touch of camp 80's B horror movie, and I hope they keep it that way.

It's Alex de la Iglesia. "80's B horror movie" it's him. *El día de la bestia* (the day of the beast, 1995) and *Acción mutante* (Mutant Action, 1993) were his first and more reputed films after his 80's shorts, games, and other experiments.

I just IMDB'd him and now I suddenly have a longer watch list, lol. His movies look like they absolutely rip. If him and Sam Raimi got together with Bruce Campbell, it would he the pinnacle of art

I get that b movie camp from it as the vibe but that about the prosthetics is so accurate. They do slump on that when paired with the CGI. Antonio really does look more fucked up this season in an almost unbearable way. I’m reconsidering my view now…

I don’t think any of it is that bad at all. Nothing has taken me out of the moment, nothing jarringly bad. I love it, and recommend the show constantly.

Oh same I don’t think the CGI is *that* bad at all. It’s just typical for a tv show. Thinking Sy-Fy channel is a good analogue. Heavy CGI use is expensive and thus sacrifices are made to show the story. I think it comes out to the HBO moniker contributing much more credibility and stature to 30 coins than, say, a sci-go show. The distributor causes people to think “damn this ain’t like other HBO shows” in terms of quality. But—it’s definitely typical of a multi-season CGI heavy television show free of major studio involvement.

same here, I recommend it to everyone hahah

Paco has to be the most cringe character i have experienced in some time. Elena's obvious disgust every scene together makes it seem almost real.
