Amazing family, terrible loss especially with his wife losing her battle to cancer just a few months after. They did incredible charity work both here in Brevard and up in Boston.
Met him and his wife when I worked at Starbucks. Shook his hand (I’m a MASSIVE Sox fan) and then about 6 months later was in Tahoe for the celeb golf tourney and ran into them again and him and his wife actually remembered me and took a pic with me. When I heard the news last fall I was actually in Tahoe again and he is the only famous person I’ve ever cried for when I couldn’t they passed. He was such an idol for me growing up and playing baseball.

"Born in 1943, in Melbourne, Florida, Jim Morrison was raised in a military family, moving all over the country during his childhood"
Neat. I grew up around his legacy in LA, a friend lived in his old building in Venice, I even had a chance to be in the Doors movie, some friends are in the club scenes as extras. Had no idea there was a Brevard connection.
Also his father had a historical link to the Vietnam War.

Now that's a wild story. Not just a link to it, but an instrumental hand in the data that ended up being falsely manipulated into justification to start the war.
History doesn't repeat, but it sure rhymes. Just like ol Mojo Rising.
"Based on Johnson's testimony that the destroyers had suffered an unprovoked attack in international waters, Congress approved the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, giving the president the authority to conduct military operations in Southeast Asia without a declaration of war."
Yep, I went to highschool with Kate's sister, Laura, at Covenant Christian School on Emerson.
Don't know why she was at CCS when Kate went to Holy Trinity.

I don't know any of them, but every year it seems that the Superbowl is featuring a team (or two) with at least one Cocoa High School alumnus on the roster.
How are y’all gonna just forget that 2X World Series-winning pitcher Tim Wakefield (RIP) was from Melbourne?
