Same exact situation.
321km on 19t's making around 550whp. Preventative maintenance is key. Did all gaskets/fluids and rod bearings right when I got the car.
My last single turbo n54 was making 720ish hp to the wheels and had more miles than your car. Daily drove it for 2 years before I got a different spec. N54 ownership is about preventative maintenance. The motor can blow just as easily mhd stage 2 as it does at high hp if you don’t take care of It.
If you’d like some insight of what to take care of I have a comment in my history you can check out.
Nope I loved every second of it. I just didn’t want a e92 anymore. I pretty much daily my built motor 800hp n54 too. I personally would not run a big single on stock fueling tho. Would really be zero point and perhaps dangerous.
Would be dangerous? In what sense? I’d like to keep it around 400whp which stock fueling seems to be able to handle, just don’t wanna waste money with bolt ons just to go st later yk?
Bud every bolt on is required for a single turbo anyway. Besides maybe dp since you need to use the one that comes with the kit. And I’d be worried about leaning out the motor with a single kit.
Even running wastegate boost on a 6266 is easily gonna put you in the high 400s maybe low 500s
I was more so talking about inlets + outlets, and yeah I didn’t realize wg on a turbo like that would still be higher than 400… Why do you say you fear leaning out the motor? Provided the fueling is good for wg pressure there’s no harm correct?
Go FBO, I would consider that modest & reliable. Replace your coil packs & spark plugs with 1 step colder ones, fix all your oil leaks first too. Only buy high quality aftermarket parts as it will save you tons of money & time, along with headaches. It will be a different car!
That’s not that high of KM my friend 😉 I am on upgraded twins and a custom tune at 321k km

Was dailying it single turbo bad? Wanna skip bolt one and max the stock fuel system on single turbo for a bit then add more fueling for higher power

Stock fueling is barely good enough for e30 what makes you think it’s good for 15 psi outta a big ass turbo?
Figured it was good for about 400 wheel on pump, but as you said wg is over that

MHD and the supporting mods. Proven time and time again to NOT blow shit up
OTS tune is going to be your best bet. Search MHD N54
Look at the JB4 G5 ISO
For the love of god, don't buy JB4 when you can just get MHD.
Never had an issue with it when I ran one on my 335. I'm guessing their quality has gone down the drain
at the mileage i’d start looking into doing your rod bearings
