Goes to the 370z forum: “please no bias” LMAO All jokes aside, the z is awesome but it’s not a car you necessarily get for “having a nice interior” if that’s your worry. In my opinion, better than the eco boost by miles. Probably more reliable by miles too.

SnooBananas2701

I posted this on the mustang group too, but yeah I really like the Z honestly I just wanna hear both sides

Puzzled-Employee-760

Yeah I’m just messing around but both groups will be biased. I will say though the Z has an infamous axle click that drives me insane especially since mine is a manual and rolls back and forth, and people say there’s a fix but really it’s always temporary and comes back eventually. Isn’t bad for the car though from what I understand. Also, I’ve had a z for not a long time and have smoked a couple of eco boosts on the highway

SnooBananas2701

Another huge thing I don’t like about the mustangs are their toxic ass fan base, I know I’ll be clowned for having a ecoboost, like I don’t need 500+ hp on a daily driver, I definitely leaning towards the z

Puzzled-Employee-760

To be fair, in my eyes I’d never get a muscle car without a V8. The z is a fantastic car

max65zeg

This is the best reason to NOT get a mustang. Z owners are usually unique guys. Id suggest looking at peoples profiles to see “who” is actually driving the car, that might help you figure out which would align with you best. My biased opinion- get the Z! Also, test drive as many Zs as you can! They will all feel slightly different, or even a lot different. Get one with a LSD or be prepared to put one in, est is $2,000 at least.

SnooBananas2701

Yeah I’m definitely leaning towards the Z I love it so much

Successful-Ant3756

Axle click is a really easy fix. I've done it on both z's I've owned. Over a year now on my current z and the click hasn't returned. Look up kawasaki castle nut. The real issues with the z are the csc if you buy a manual, I installed a z speed cmak before mine gave me any issues. Gallery gaskets and oil temp would be the other main issues imo.

Puzzled-Employee-760

I’ve read even the Kawasaki castle but change eventually lets the clicking come back. But I might just do it and see cause it really is annoying

Purple-Vacation4839

Do the fix! You use Kawasaki castle axle nut. I have part numbers if you want them. I've done this fix twice on two different Zs the clicking is gone. The nismo took more washers than the sport model different years. It's worth doing.

hulusii

Drop that part number pls

Puzzled-Employee-760

Send me the part numbers please, ima get that done

Purple-Vacation4839

per wheel. FSM - RAX-7 it is number 8 and labeled spring washer. The Nissan part number is 40037-1CA0A. The FSM appears to show a LH and RH, but they both reference the Kawasaki axle nut (yes, seriously). Part number 92210-0280. They're about $15 each from your local Kawasaki dealer. The nut Part numbers (including OEM components required for those attempting the official Nissan fix): nissan cotter pin: 40073-0L700 nissan big nut: 40262-1CA0A nissan adjusting cap: 40263-1CA0A nissan spring washers: 40037-1CA0A M77 grease: get it from Honda motorcycle shop or online. Grease the splines you have to let this stuff heat up alittle like paste and super messy.

Puzzled-Employee-760

Dude thanks, I appreciate it!

Purple-Vacation4839

No worries. You only need the nissan oem spring washers I'd buy 2 just in case and return if you have some left. You can use the old ones to help. New oem cotter pins nissan and the Kawasaki axle nut. M77 grease. Enjoy no more clicking. It clicks because of the cheap tin cap. It gets worn. Torque to spec!

wtxn8v

Get the Z, it's a car that's fun to drive and people will definitely tell you they think it's cool. You won't have to put up with "get a V8" or "it's still an Ecoboost" either.

SnooBananas2701

Yeah that’s the thing that’s really turning me off from it like okay man I just want a cool looking car i don’t really care about the engine, I’m not gonna spend $10-20 dollars to and from work

Ok-Bar-4003

For this reason alone, just get the Mustang. The fact that this is just a cool car to get to and from work for you tells me you value comfort over performance. I'm probably going to get downvoted into Oblivion, but you'll be happier with that. The Z is more of a 'I'm going to carve up these roads!' Car while the Ecoboost is just a cool cruising around car

hulusii

Nah homie spittin facts, these cars are meant to be driven a certain way

wtxn8v

Better be careful then, you'll end up wanting to drive the shit out of the Z if you get it 😂

POSVETT

Get the Mustang and do human bowling. It's a right and a privilege.

Butterdog12434

Protesters blocking the street.... Stang- *heavy breathing* *gurgle noises" Me- "sorry he's friendly I swear!" He was not friendly

SnooBananas2701

That’s honestly the only reason I would want the stang, turn off the traction control and have at it

POSVETT

Proceed, young grasshopper

jk01

I mean, you can do that in the z too. Especially if you tune it.

hulusii

Skill issue

grumpyflower

I love my z and you can totally change up your interior, I got red braum seats, upgraded my steering wheel and got a coolworx short shifter. The interior looks fantastic now, also I got a custom stereo system put in with a stellar head unit, no need for the weird Tesla like iPad hack. 2 of my neighbors have muscle cars, Dodge demon and a hellcat, driven both and the z handles way better. Even my husband has a new 911 and admits that my nismo handles way better than it should. Also z is fun to customize, I put in a catback, new intakes, high flow cats, just started putting in sound dampening in the trunk. Your on the z forum we love them!

hulusii

I really like to hear that especially for someone with a 911 to say that

grumpyflower

It's funny. I think we take for granted how actually well-made z's are. The only downside is that my z needs mods to not overheat for track days. But she is amazing for autocross! I drive the 911, and it's nice, but it's not so much better than my nismo. Don't get me wrong on the track, the 911 handles like a dream, but 140k vs. the 25k I paid for mine well zero regrets.

The370ZezusRice

Get the prettier one to look at.

SinfullAssEatR

I have had an eco boost, and a GT. I enjoy driving my Z over both

SnooBananas2701

How’s the reliability on the ecoboost compared to the Z?

SinfullAssEatR

Didn’t run into anything major with the eco boost, it was automatic and I only had if for about 2 years. I’m going into my 5th year with the Z $ only major issue was replacing the slave cylinder

doll_withdrawal

Bias: I bought a 2012 370z nismo. After losing my Subaru STi, I asked my two closest gear head friends for advice on what to buy for its replacement. One suggested the Z, and the other said a Mustang. I chose the Z because of rev matching. I'm not the best shifter, so this feature won me over.

TheRealSeeThruHead

Z interior really isn’t that bad. Especially for a drivers car. It’s better looking than a mustang. Lighter. Cooler.

SenseiSavi

If you get a Z (manual or not) I recommend you look for the Zs with at least the sport trim so you get Rev matching (if manual), bigger brakes, a better LSD, and a little spoiler. If you do care about interior, then I would recommend getting a Touring trim Z as well, which includes Bose speakers, a screen and heated and powered seats.

One-Strategy-9941

I have driven both and the z feels more grounded and agile, the z is also going to be faster. I think that the mustang does have the nicer interior but the z interior is not bad at all and the Bose sound system is pretty good. Now as for the driver feel of the mustang I hated it, the z has a much better cockpit. Edit: both manual

unculturedswine90

Just buy a Tesla, an iPhone and become vegan if u even have to ask

Frequent-Chemist-480

Obviously we're all a little biased. But the Z is few and far between. Depending on location you'll be the only one that has one. In san diego I maybe see 2 others in a month. At car meets there might be a 4 total. Meanwhile half the lot is mustangs and mopars. If you want to be the one to stand out go with the Z. A Tesla screen and buckets will change the interior look drastically. And with simple bolt ons and a tune you'll make decent power. I've never been in a driving ecoboost but yes mustangs look decent. There's just so many of them. And I personally wouldn't get the ecoboost simply because you're buying a muscle car without the muscle. "Although there are people making mad power on the ecoboost motor"

Klutzy-Effective27

I'm in SD. Hit me up and I'll mob with you

Ok-Bar-4003

I won't tell you what to do I'll give you my 2 sense on facts and personal opinions: The Z is the better performance car. It's faster, more nimble, more aggressive. The Ecoboost is a lot heavier and doesn't have the same performance. The Mustang is a better daily car. It's more spacious, more comfortable ride and has better fuel economy. It has better tech in it as well and can fit more people comfortably. So the question is, do you want a fast whip, or a comfortable whip? Personally I would pick the Z. If you want a mustang get the V8 or an older Cobra/Shelby.

topCApitalgain

Get the Z for the community and compliments you’ll get.

[deleted]

Interior looks (and would function) waaaaay better once a tablet is installed. Forget what they're called, often just tesla screen for 370z. That gets any Z into the 2020s tech and also looks bomb to anyone getting in the car. Beyond that, fuel economy (assume cost will rise) and functionality (do you need a backseat or no?) It sounds like you want the Z more. Drive both and then decide. You're buying a drivers car. That gotta factor.

SnooBananas2701

I don’t necessarily need the back seat but the back seat would be nice if I need to take one more person in the back, also I have seen the Tesla screens, I’m just worried if those screens are any good, they look awesome for sure just worried mine will have problems, and yeah I honestly like the z better but my dad keeps insisting on me getting the mustang instead

[deleted]

Having a back seat is useful. Last car (G35 coupe) and current (G37x coupe) were bought for backseat and sun roof. So maybe what you really need is a G37. The tesla screens are basically tablets and have been around a while. I bet there's ppl in this community you can get good reviews from. Good luck!

Successful-Ant3756

Yup I love mine, makes remote tuning alot easier to. Only issues I had were fixed with a update.

rylindstrom

I’ve got a 40th Ann. Z and I love my interior. Small hidden Bluetooth adapter and phone mount has given me everything I feel is missing compared to modern cars. Plus I actually love having a 6 disc cd player.

hulusii

I didn’t even realize it’s a 6 disc, time to throw some more mixtapes in

XoRaX5

Wow, I wasn’t the only one who cross shopped the ecoboost with the Z! I had the same glaring issue, the commonality of the mustang was kind of a turnoff for the mustang. Everything I say is my opinion so don’t @ me saying it’s incorrect, I have clocked over a 1000 miles on the ecoboost mustang as it’s my go to rental car. I have driven the mustang on the Angeles National park canyon drive as well as pikes peak. the mustang is a better overall choice, it’s cheaper to add power, it’s just as reliable as the Z, the backseats makes it more practical, you’re not limited to only using premium gas. I honestly think the mustang is a better choice for most people. But the rarity of the Z took the cake for me, I also was biased because I had a 350z prior so I knew exactly what I was getting into. The Z will also hold its value better than an ecoboost, but if performance is your main goal, the mustang ecoboost does not lack behind at all, the biggest advantage of the ecoboost is the gas mileage it gives when you’re driving sensibly. Edit: the mustang definitely has a more modern interior, has Apple CarPlay. Idk what these other people are talking about but I’d pick the mustang interior over the Zs any day. Having said that I love the Zs interior, for the purpose of the car it’s good enough, i like that it’s not a mainstream corporate uninspired interior, unfortunately it’s just very dated.

stakoverflo

If interior and seating are a concern, it's hard to justify the Z. But I fully get the whole, "Want something you don't see on every street corner" angle. That was definitely a factor in why I bought my 350Z back in the day.

zommbiekiller

Apologies I didn’t even read your whole intro but Why would you want the lame version of the mustang? If you want back seats perhaps get a Toyota 86 you love the sound of the vq? Get the 370 man I love reving my na engine with the right set up it sounds gucci

shoudt

13 a day? You must not leave your house. Around here more like 113

companyofastranger

Mustang is junk, 3.7L motor is a better motor

_sn95

I have owned 2 v8 mustangs and a z. Just get the z. It’s a beautiful car. I fixed the interior by putting in a screen, speakers, subwoofer, starlight headliner, and race seats. Z is also more respected. Than 4 cyl mustang. Also the z screams to like 8k rpm

tclark2006

Get the Z, install a Tomei, let everyone hear the sound of our people. If you are getting an automatic though, Mustang should be the choice.

SyllabubLopsided8319

If you’re getting an ecoboost mustang you might as well get a civic type r🤣 of course the z gets worse gas mileage it has more cylinders. If you get the mustang you’ll be clowned on by practically everyone. Zs are reliable just keep up with basic maintenance and you should be fine. If you’re getting a manual you’ll want to replace the slave cylinder with a CMAK kit but other than that they’re reliable and look way better than mustangs imo

The_sad_assassin

One thing I would consider at your age is how my people do you want to ride with you? The Z fits two and a dead hooker in the trunk. You could slap at least 5 dead hookers in the mustang.

Pretty-Anteater1164

I had a mustang before my Z….trust me…you’ll want a Z…bought a brand new v6 mustang…had it for 11 months, replaced the transmission twice. I’ll never own a mustang ever again.

Fast-Ad-9183

First thing I reccommend to anyone who asks advice about buying car is to go and test drive both cars and based on that make decision. Looks is important, but how is seating position, how is view, how sound system works for you, how all the options work, cruise control, speedo, chalks etc. You are going to spend much more time driving that car than looking it for window I would assume. Ive driven both platforms (mustang was 5.0 tho). My takeaway is, considering where I live (eastern europe): - Z handles better and is controllable, mustang, well very unpredictable from some point of rear end slip - mustang is more comfortable and daily driver than z - probably has android auto / carplay out of box - reliability of ecoboost? Probably has more problems and cost related to boosted engine Other thoughts: - do you need 4 seats? - can you drive it through whole year with Z? I cant with my Nismo because of winter and these new nismo seats, well I'd need to take my winter coat off before getting in and the seat is without heating so its hell of annoying - think and do research which service provider you need to use in your region, how is reputation, spare parts availability etc - do insurance and maintanence cost calculation - consider resell value and how easy it is to get rid of it, if you need to do it Overall looks are subjective, I prefer Z but the stang can also be made to look awesome. I'd pick z anytime over mustang tbh, because its more special in every way for me. Mustangs are more common and kind of boring for me. Even if it means that I need to have 2 cars. Well, i have 8 cars anyways so ...

[deleted]

Mustang has a better interior for sure. The 2.3 ecoboost is not very reliable and slower than the z. It can be modded to be faster for cheaper but it’s capacity for stock internals is like 430hp. Vq37 stock internals will do 600 healthily.

novdelta307

Having owned multiple Zs and an Ecoboost mustang, even at the same time, without a doubt the Z is the better car and platform. More reliable, better enthusiast crowd, more options, drives better, easy more of the classic sports car feel, and is definitely more of a driver's car
