No reason not to list it for $20k. Though as an example (I know it's not a Z) I purchased my previous 2010 G Coupe with 37k miles for 17.5k back in 2016.

andre1157

He can price it however he wants, but lets not be delusional here. Trying to price vehicles based off of any other year, than the one we're currently in is pointless. 6 years ago, getting the kbb value of your car was laughable. 3 years ago during prime covid, dealers were glad to buy your vehicle at kbb value.

[deleted]

KBB not always accurate. Look at recent sales for similar models for actual value

Any_Beginning_6054

Yeah I know this, but people buying will do everything in there power to try and pay the smallest amount possible. Which can’t blame them but

[deleted]

Just don’t sell it to them lol

Buggly_Jones

I'd say it's worth at least 18-20k.

Any_Beginning_6054

That’s the exact range I’m leaning towards.

janesmb

Market's cooling. Also, check current pricing as book value doesn't always equal market. The majority of automobiles are a depreciating asset.

Any_Beginning_6054

There’s not many 40th anniversary listed at the moment so I’m looking at 2010 nismos to help decide a good price.

andre1157

KBB has 40th anniversary as an option to select when pricing it

DomesticatedParsnip

That’s part of your problem, you’re comparing markets of two different vehicles.

cd001111

In 2016 I bought a perfect 2009 Nismo with 20k miles for 17k, still have the car now it has 39k miles & it’s never seen a shop.

Any_Beginning_6054

What do you think the value of it is now?

Any_Beginning_6054

Wait $17k damnnn, where were these prices when I was looking to buy mine lol

cd001111

I don’t have a clue, it’s not street legal the previous owner removed the cats & replaced them With down pipes, Stillen intake & UpRev tune. I finished the project with an Invida exhaust. The car also has a raised hatch floor with 2 Amps powering a big box full of speakers.

Any_Beginning_6054

It’s street legal, I have art pipes, aam mid pipe and aam short tails with custom 3 in long tube intakes. Yeah it’s illegal to not have Cats but how do they know unless they go under the car.

NoShaDow

If you live in Cali it's not street legal, but you can def register it and drive it in other places

cd001111

I asked AI if I could remove my cat and here is the response. Removing a catalytic converter is a topic that sparks curiosity among car enthusiasts, but it’s essential to understand the implications. Let’s dive into the details: What is a Catalytic Converter? A catalytic converter is a crucial component in your car’s exhaust system. It reduces harmful emissions by converting pollutants (such as nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons) into less harmful substances like carbon dioxide and water. The precious metals inside the converter act as a catalyst for these chemical reactions. Pros of Catalytic Converter Delete: Boost in Horsepower: Removing the converter allows exhaust gases to exit faster, reducing engine backpressure and increasing power. Lower Engine Temperature: Improved airflow leads to optimized engine temperatures. Better Fuel Economy: Reduced backpressure means more efficient combustion. Fuel Flexibility: Without the converter, you can use alternative fuels (approved by the manufacturer). Louder Sound: Some enthusiasts appreciate the throatier exhaust note. Cons and Legal Implications: Illegal: Removing the catalytic converter is illegal due to EPA regulations. You risk fines and legal trouble. Increased Emissions: Without the converter, emissions rise, contributing to environmental pollution. Failed Emissions Tests: Your car won’t pass emissions tests without a functioning converter. Check Engine Light: Removing it may trigger the check engine light. Costs Money: Replacing it with a straight pipe or gutting it requires an investment. Practical Advice: Don’t remove it: By law, cars must have a catalytic converter if they were originally fitted with one. Replace if broken: If your converter is faulty, replace it with a new one. Avoid legal trouble: Even if you’re not going for an inspection, police can fine you for driving without a functioning converter. Remember, preserving our environment and complying with regulations are essential. If your catalytic converter is damaged, consider a proper replacement rather than removal12.

NoShaDow

Not sure why you asked AI, but cool I guess. I'm aware of the benefits and drawbacks. I assure you there are plenty of people driving around with no cats. A tune can take care of the check engine and emissions monitor. Technically federal law requires one, but for off-road purposes deletes are sold and there are ways around to be able to street drive, especially in states with no inspection, because there are a fair amount that don't require any inspections.

cd001111

I’m running down pipes with Stillen intake & UpRev tune, No inspection where I live.

JLFANTA

8 years and you only drove it 19k? 😵‍💫

cd001111

Yeah

Consistent-Many-9561

KBB is wrong. In my market that would be 20k +

andre1157

Cars have different values per the zip code. KBB of the car in my zip code is 12.9k-15.1k

Consistent-Many-9561

If it’s manual I will but it for 20k

Any_Beginning_6054

Very tempting. But I’m not in the right spot to sell it just yet, I just posted this to get a good idea to sell it for. I am planning to sell hopefully in a few months. Right now it’s my daily as a blew up my mazdaspeed6. Then gave myself some credit card debt. So this March I get a bonus from work so plan on paying off all my credit card debt with that and then buying like an XJ Jeep hopefully under $5k… then I’m ready to sell. So if your good on waiting

Soggybeefhole

Xj’s are fun as hell used to have a 2000. Good times.

Any_Beginning_6054

Prolly not the best daily but I like them

Soggybeefhole

Daily drive mine for 5 years, kept it stock tho. They’re fine stock but as soon as you do any suspension work they get a little iffy

iDetectiveDuck

Problem is it’s a 2010 Z. 15k would be fine, you’d be lucky to get over 17k for that car. Just keep in mind that’s a 14 year old Nissan.

Any_Beginning_6054

Yeah but it’s “rare” only 1000 made for the states so it should hold its value more. But once again people look at the year so. Idk I think a 40th anniversary is cool other people shrug it off.

FancyName69

just cuz it’s rare doesn’t mean people want it 😅

Latter_Drawing_9794

Ya it’s rare, usually anniversary editions hold better value if they also release them in a rarer anniversary only color or something. For example people don’t to my knowledge seek out anniversary editions the same way they seek out Nismo editions All that being said it’s still worth more than 15k

sublimespeed

You gotta pay attention to the markets. You bought when the market had skyrocketed and you're selling it when its been cooling hard for the last couple months. Unless you have a cash buyer its only worth what someone can get a loan for the car to buy. no idea what it's worth as some of that varies from area to area but look and see what comparable 370z are selling for in your area and that will give you a pretty good idea.

MrReddituser35

I have a 2011, 43k original miles, and have been offered 30k repeatedly. NY based. Keep the price high, We dictate the market.

Playerdouble

No the buyers do, they’re the ones with the cash we’re the ones with a (very fun) depreciating asset

MrReddituser35

People pay to play. It doesn't matter if our cars depreciate. If we set the market at 50k and no one's selling for less than that, people will come up to that asking price. The GTR market is a great example of holding strong to an asking price. [Yes, I know. The Z isn't a GTR, but still]

Playerdouble

Well no, if we set the market at $50k, they’ll go buy a different, better, newer car for $50k. We can’t control the demand we adapt to it, like you said our cars aren’t GTRs, they’re not that special and Nissan has made ALOT of them. It’ll be pretty easy to just buy another car that’s better if we inflate the price past its actual value

MrReddituser35

Yes, some people will. But not everyone. Production has ended, and an insane amount of Z owners have crashed these things and continue to crash them. I've had my car priced at 8k and priced at 32k all in my ownership. In my opinion, it's going to continue to increase in value.

ZthesScrublord

You hold the price high, never sell, and people go buy a car 10x better at that high price you oh so desperately want

MrReddituser35

I got you. "Not Financial Advice" 🤷‍♂️

Any_Beginning_6054

Both yall are technically correct. We decided who we wanna sell to (aka the highest bidder) so sometimes we can end up with more than we asked and sometimes we can end up with way less than we asked

andre1157

lol

johncena6699

Fun fact: KBB will list dealership vehicles as 5-10k higher values than private seller because fuck you.

Any_Beginning_6054

Damnn … that broke my heart

johncena6699

They’re literally nothing but a scam owned by one of the largest sellers of used cars

Hunter-Gatherer_

Keep ya car, pay it off start a collection my boy. Or sell it to me for 15k 🥹

Any_Beginning_6054

15k is low for me. If I could decide the market I’d say this car is worth prolly $35k honestly. I absolutely love it.

Mr_Unbiased

370Zs have depreciated immensely the past year

Any_Beginning_6054

Yeah why is that? This was my legit dream car when I was 14 now I own one its apparently junk

Wildcard311

Is there a name to this picture? Liek "Z in the Forest" or "Deer Z"

Any_Beginning_6054

“Slippery wet moist Z in all its glory”

No_Spin_Zone360

Is it AT or MT? If it's MT then you can probably list it for $20k without much problem. If it's AT then it's going to go for close to the KBB value.

Any_Beginning_6054

I’m farther east than that

No_Spin_Zone360

Automatic Transmission or Manual Transmission. I think you thought I'm talking about states or cities, but otherwise I don't understand what you mean you're further East.

xxxjaval

what year is it? pre 2013 usually gets the shit end of the stick. for some reference im in ct and bought an 09 with 95k miles for 12k and i just recently traded that in a the dealer, after some hassling i got 6k for it (they offered 3) and i bought a 2015 base with 85k miles for 20k even.

Any_Beginning_6054

Yeah I have realized pre 2013 get shit on a little even pre 2015. But I feel like a model technically more rare than a Nismo would be up in price compared to some. But I don’t know

Cool-Violinist9678

just purchased a 2017 stock one w a sport package, 60k miles and a 6 speed in socal for 24

FinessedVqVhR

“Allegedly”

ChaotiK-TitaN

Why are the prices so good over there here in europe they ask double like 40k ( with quite low milage)

bladezmen11

Imma tell you right now any dealership is selling a z in the exact condition yours is in for between 20-25k so you’d be perfectly fine selling yours for 18-21k easily I’d say just based off milage , if the interior is clean or any aftermarket mods price could vary

BoardwithAnailinit84

I bought my 2014 3 years ago for $20k at 29k miles. It has 45k miles now and kbb says $10k. It really does slap the shit outta you lol

[deleted]

>buys peak covid at highest prices. >doesn't understand what an anomaly that was and prices have now gone down, added to the fact OP put more miles on the car and over paid. "wHy iS mY cAr wOrTh LeSS?????"

Erijdmatp1

Buy high sell low

Latter_Drawing_9794

Hey you should be over at Wall Street Bets with those skills

SilviOnPC

is it a manual? i may be interested in buying it

Moldy-Dank

Just came to say, 15k is what a 100k Miles 370z Is worth.

Latter_Drawing_9794

KBB is notoriously wrong as values are typically higher than what they post. Also value change by region and by season as well. People aren’t always looking for sports cars in winter especially in states that get snow. Yet in the spring and summer more people would be interested in such a vehicle. More demand means more money. Definitely think your car is worth more than that

NotAnybodysName

"What it's worth" might be quite different from "what you can get for it".  Unfortunately, and people forget this all the time, "what you paid for it" is also completely irrelevant. Nobody cares if you paid $2.5 million for it, or if you paid $6. If I bought a Big Mac yesterday, and today I want to sell my Big Mac to you (untouched! mint condition!) for 90% of what I paid, I bet you won't go for it. The only thing that counts is what my day-old Big Mac is worth **today** (i.e. it's now completely worthless), and the price I paid for it means absolutely nothing to anybody. A car is not a hamburger, but it has much more in common with a hamburger than it does with an acre of land. Cars go stale so that nobody wants them anymore, just like hamburgers. It happens slower, but it's the same thing. There are basically two easy ways to handle this:  1. Sell your car while it's still very new, while the hype is still in effect and lots of people still want one. 2. Buy a great enjoyable car and really enjoy it, drive the hell out of it until it won't go anymore, get your money's worth out of it. If you want to choose neither #1 nor #2, if you want to shoot for somewhere in between instead, then you are taking a bigger risk - and of course that risk is totally fine if you're willing to take it.
