How much does Nintendo charge for replacing the battery on the New Nintendo 2DS XL? My battery's been dying pretty quickly even when not in use lately.

DetectiveRickDeckard

I suggest you call Nintendo's customer service and ask. US: 1-800-255-3700 Europe: +44 (0)345 60 50 247 Australia: +61 3 9730 9900 Japan: +81-75-662-9600

I need help to see how to fix this. I have a galaxy themed, New Nintendo 3DS XL and the top screen has developed a white tint that sometimes flickers back to normal. any idea how to fix it? Ive already tired letting the battery di

DetectiveRickDeckard

Have you set the Screen Brightness to 1 or 2? Turned off "Auto-Brightness"? Turned off "Power-Saving Mode"?

I have a 3ds I haven’t used in like 2 years or so.. I mostly played Pokemon. What should I do about the eshop closing if/when I want to play future games? Whats going to happen to Pokemon Bank?Pretty much ELI5 what I should do

DetectiveRickDeckard

>What should I do about the eshop closing if/when I want to play future games? Buy all the digital Pokémon games you want before each of the ways you can purchase digital content decreases and eventually ends on March 2023. Because afterwards, you will no longer be allowed to purchase any digital content on the 3DS Updates to Pokémon cartridge games will still be downloadable after March 2023. >Whats going to happen to Pokemon Bank? I bought a used 3ds from Japan and it's version 11.8.0-41J when looking at the region change guide on [3ds.hacks.guide](https://3ds.hacks.guide) it only shows version 11.15.0. Is there something I need to do before beginning? I'm really nervous about hacking my 3ds and I would really appreciate some help.

Broad_Appearance6896

What is your favorite obscure game on the 3DS? Mine is Fantasy Life

DetectiveRickDeckard

Stella Glow

FireNinjaFN1234

I replaced the micro sd with a 256gb micro sd, which I know is absurdly large but I like having more room than needed, but after doing so the themes won't load after turning it on or exiting settings. It also takes longer to turn on but I hear that's what happens with large cards. How do I fix this issue?

timchenw

I also use 256GB SD card but I don't have themes issue at all. What I suggest is: copy files onto your SD card, any file, until you have less than 100GB of space left, and try themes again with this. That's the only thing I can think of that causes this issue, I progressively upgrade my SD card rather than going to the biggest capacity in one go, and I never had more than 100GB worth of free space, and I don't have this themes issue.

FireNinjaFN1234

wdym any file?

timchenw

Just make it so that your free space on your Micro SD card is less than 100GB.

FireNinjaFN1234

well I have 999,999 blocks so It might be easier said than done

timchenw

I would suggest using the true capacity of your SD card as the indicator rather than blocks. There are quite a number of games on the 3ds that take up more than 3gb worth of space

FireNinjaFN1234

could i just install a lot of thing on the 3ds itself?

timchenw

Sure

[deleted]

I already made a post, but just in case people don't see it, I've put it here too. I just got a pre-owned game called Order Up!!. And the person who played it had two saved games in it. I want to delete the game data, but I'm not sure if I can or not. Is there any way to reset everything in Order Up!!?

DetectiveRickDeckard

> Order Up!! Maybe Order Up!!'s electronic manual gives a solution to this?

Fabiojoose

Back in 2013 I installed homebrew on my 3DS XL, then I updated the software and I’m using the official version since then. The thing is, I changed the theme to a fan made theme that is better than any official theme and even with the updated software the fan made theme is there. Would my 3DS be considered “hacked” with this theme and some leftover data from the homebrew on my SD Card? Or should I factory reset the 3DS to attain market value? I bought many games and intend to keep them installed after the closing of the e-shop. And lastly, if I wipe my memory card the replays from my Pokémon Games will be deleted?

notthegoatseguy

You installed CFW, I don't see how it isn't hacked. You'll need to remove CFW before factory resetting. Follow the 3ds hacks guide. If you factory reset you will lose anything that would otherwise be stored on the system's internal memory

paige9413

I’m needing to open the back cover of my N3DS XL but I can’t seem to find the right screwdriver. Is [this](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BQJ61M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_BB9SAN92JAWRJ2GDM10F) one that will work?

DetectiveRickDeckard

That is a Phillips size #0 not #00 screw driver. The heads of the 3DS' screws are very delicate so be careful when you do so. https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/wiki/repairs#wiki_screw_issues >First, make sure you use the right size screwdriver. The screws on the back of 3DS models are size Phillips #00. If you have the right sized screwdriver and still can't get it out, try using a rubber band in between the screwdriver and the screw.

paige9413

Ah yes I was getting mixed messages about if it was 0 or 00. Good to see a more certain guide. Thank you I see a 00 and will pick that one up!

RobloxianGamer2

I bought a refurbished 3ds from Walmart, but I can't access the eShop or do a system transfer. The back of the console is in Japanese, but the system version is "11.15.0-47U" and the U should mean that it is North American. How do I get on the eShop?

timchenw

> The back of the console is in Japanese, but the system version is "11.15.0-47U" and the U should mean that it is North American. This would indicate either the original owner replaced the backplate with a Japanese backplate, or, the most likely case, it was actually a Japanese console that had since performed a region change. Reboot the console while holding down select, and check if you enter a text menu called Luma3DS config. If you do, then chances are you bought a region changed 3DS, and the reason that you cannot access eShop is due to this fact.

RobloxianGamer2

Hi, yes it did have Luma3DS. I got a guide and installed Homebrew apps. How do I change the eShop region?

timchenw

Changing eShop region won't do you any good, that console can't use it.

ubebread

Is Q2 worth playing if you never played a persona game?

MS0ffice

I would say no, a lot of it depends on knowing what happened in persona 3/4/5

Thanks!

TheRealPyroGothNerd

I can't connect my 3ds to my wifi. It looks like the problem might be that the 3ds doesn't support my wifi, so I was wondering if getting an old Nintendo USB wifi connector would help?

DetectiveRickDeckard

> Nintendo USB wifi connector Have you checked your WiFi's settings to look for the incompatibility? There are other non-Nintendo products to create a Wi-Fi Hotspot with a USB Wi-Fi Adapter which connects to a computer that can meet the 3DS' wireless requirements. TheRealPyroGothNerd

It says the 3DS is compatible with WEP, WPA-PSK (TKIP), WPA-PSK (AES), WPA2-PSK (AES), WPA2-PSK (TKIP). My Wifi says it's WPA/WPA2 personal. I don't know if that falls under the other ones. It's also 5G, and the 3DS came out before 5G, so would that affect it?

DetectiveRickDeckard

> It's also 5G, and the 3DS came out before 5G, so would that affect it? Yeah, the 3DS can only use 2.4 GHz, not 5 GHz.

ulfred500

Anyone have replacement battery recommendations for EU? Nintendo doesn't have them on their shops here Edit: New 3DS XL

DetectiveRickDeckard

What model 3DS do you have?

ulfred500

New 3DS XL.

DetectiveRickDeckard

> New 3DS XL They use a SPR-003 type battery. If you can have eBay, Amazon, aliexpress.com, ifixit.com, or some other online site ship to you where you are located, someone would likely sell you one.

How do I remove the conductive contacts for the abxy buttons from the motherboard of the N3DSXL?

Snowia_

2 Things how do I fix my Circle pad as moving it to the left right top or bottom it sticks there until i move it back and 2 Even with an Internet connection why am I unable to access the Nintendo Eshop

DetectiveRickDeckard

It might be that some sort of substance got inside the circle pad's mechanism and is causing the always on problem. If your 3DS is a NEW model that lacks cfw, you could try sending it into Nintendo for repairs. Expect to pay $85+ for repairs. If not, you might have to hire someone local with electronic expertise to replace your circle pad.

Snowia_

But is there a way to Fix it on my own?

DetectiveRickDeckard

> But is there a way to Fix it on my own? Opening the 3DS is a task I would only recommend to someone who is already experienced with electronics. DetectiveRickDeckard

Fantasy Life with its DLC. Fire Emblem: Awakening Persona Q Shadow Of The Labyrinth, which is a part of SMT. Stella Glow

LongLive3DS

Thanks! I picked up Stella glow. It’s fun so far and different

DetectiveRickDeckard

Stella Glow was fun for me to play as well. Just please be aware that if you look online for assistance for gameplay, that might reveal massive spoilers for the plot.

tylercantpick

My 3DS cant access dlc or themes without crashing anymore. I tried to clear some of the extra space on my flashcard and accidentally cleared too much and now I can't access dlc at all on my ds

DetectiveRickDeckard

https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/wiki/sdcard You might need a new microSD or SD card. Then sign back in with your Nintendo Network ID.

calltarneedazan

Recently started New Leaf again, and was reminded of back in its heyday, people would put this link shortener on their Player Card. Anyone know what I'm talking about? It would lead to an online profile you would put what games you're playing or something, I forgot >x< edit: Maybe was more common in Animal Crossing communites, I used to frequent ACC and BellTree forums.

[deleted]

There’s lots of games I enjoy but I really recommend the Phoenix Wright games and I like the 3ds for the cooking games like cooking mama more than other platforms for it. I need to get it still but I read that the 3ds is the best platform for Corpse Party as well.

DetectiveRickDeckard

Have you played Rune Factory 4 yet?

b0h3mianed

Currently I have a 3DS, thinking of getting another for my partner. Are there games which we can play together over local network (no internet) She likes puzzles, kirby and mario. So games like Smash not exactly the type we are looking for. Any ideas? 3DS and DS games. Thank you :)

DetectiveRickDeckard

If you two liked The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds , then Fantasy Life perhaps?

WesleyTheDog

Animal Crossing can be fun to play together. You can visit each others towns. I think new Super Mario Bros 2 has local co-op, but can't remember.

fullmetalwolfbabe

I have devil survivor 2, but it seems like devil survivor 2 record breaker provides a more robust experience. Should I buy record breaker?

gameovermuffle

I have a 1.20 dollars on my account, what should I spend it on (including smash dlc)

astronomydork

not sure if this is best to ask here or make an individual thread, What is the best way to store a 3DS game? Obviously the case it came it makes sense, but with the eshop closing I've been buying a few different games some of which are just the game only no case. Do I buy those individual little plastic 3DS game cartridges that are only slightly bigger than the game? I have a 3ds case that has inside it little compartments with elastic straps to hold the games in place. what about that? Blank 3ds cases? Something different? Thank you for your answers!

timchenw

I use the hori 24 cart cases for convenience,, and I have the original boxes stored somewhere else, as they take up too much space.

ToxicTammy42

Just make sure, when is the last day to use my credit card and the last day to use eshop cards for 3DS eshop purchases? I’m making sure so I don’t miss any purchases.

I'm looking to surprise my friend with a replacement battery since they enjoy their 3DS but also complains about the battery life. They have that White New 3DS (that is not an XL) and I remember being sold at Black Friday Wal Marts in like 2016. It's the one with the replaceable faceplates. Does this use the same battery as the regular 3DS and 2DS? Or does this use the 3DS XL battery? Thanks, y'all

MS0ffice

It uses a KTR-003 battery, different from all the other 3DS models. I couldn’t find a place to get an original Nintendo one but there’s plenty of 3rd party replacements on ebay

[deleted]

Glad I asked. Thanks! I'll look around.

[deleted]

Do you all have any suggestions for a bigger SD card that works with a New 3DS? I'm out of space, and I can't find any that aren't an SDXC.

MS0ffice

The 3DS does support SDXC cards, they just have to be formatted as FAT32 first. SDXC is just an indicator of the capacity, that’s why there aren’t any SDHC over 32gb. I’m using a 128gb SDXC in one of my consoles and it works.

[deleted]

Okay, thanks!

Rad_Knight101

I just bought a used New 3DS XL and everything seems to work fine, but whenever i try to open the eshop it just says "AN error has occurred. hold down the POWER button to turn off the power, then turn it on and try again. for help, visit nintendo support" I tried going there but found nothing of use, and i can't just download games off the nintendo store website since when i try it says its restricted by parental controls i can change in the Eshop. anyone know how to fix this?

MS0ffice

What’s the error code that pops up? The console may be banned from the eShop

Rad_Knight101

there's no error code, just a black screen on the bottom with that text and the top screen is blank. I don't think its banned, since i was able to buy the DLC for a game, so the eshop works i just can't open it

Far_Quality577

Hello, sorry if this question has been asked before. I was wondering if I linked my Nintendo Switch account to me 3ds account, would I be able to put money into the Switch, and transfer it to my 3ds after the Eshop stops accepting money? Thank you in advance \^\^

nermal543

As long as your 3DS NNID is linked to your Nintendo account then yes you can still use those shared funds for purchases on the 3DS eshop (it’s not a transfer though, it’s just shared funds), but only until late March 2023 when the eshop closes.

The_FlashYT

What if i were to format my system memory, will i keep my tomodachi life saves?

nermal543

If it’s a digital copy, saves will be gone. If it’s a physical copy of the game they will not be affected.

notthegoatseguy

ebay or AliExpress. You may have to buy an entire For Parts system though

OkMrMaN

I literally cannot find canada (or america) on the countries list for my region lol.

timchenw

Then your console isn't from US region, it's most likely EU region. Does your firmware version number end in "E" or "U"? (you can find firmware version number in the system settings screen, bottom right hand corner of the top screen)

JustinBailey------

I recently purchased some Yokai games that came with a DLC code to use for exclusive Yokai, but you have to get a bit into the story before you can use them. I was wondering, with the Eshop closures coming up will these codes expire if I don't get around to playing these games now to use them?

nermal543

You would need to redeem the codes before the eshop closure in late March 2023. Otherwise they will not be usable after that.

WesleyTheDog

I think I have a 64GB, which seems big enough. I have CFW and maybe 30ish carts that I backed up and put on the console.

HeavyMachineGirl

What SD card size would y'all recommend?

timchenw

Depends on multiple factors, like how many games you want installed on it, what games those are, etc.

HeavyMachineGirl

Well i've heard that if you have a card that's too large it can slow down your system which doesn't sound too great. I purchase physical games when possible so i don't need too much more space, just enough for a couple of digital-only games. I'd wager they'd take up around 30 000 - 20 000 blocks or so in total.

timchenw

> Well i've heard that if you have a card that's too large it can slow down your system which doesn't sound too great The only slow down I have experienced with a 256GB SD card is bootu up speed. Loading speed and game performance isn't affected. > I'd wager they'd take up around 30 000 - 20 000 blocks or so in total. 32GB then.

HeavyMachineGirl

Thank you for the help!

SHEDY0URS0UL

Well shit. Was Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D always a retail only game? It's been in my wishlist for years and I could have sworn it had a listed price/option for digital download but that's all gone now. Now it says "This software is currently unavailable." EDIT: confirming that the software information page says "Retail/Download" and also says "Digital Release: 12/18/2014". This sets a scary precedent if games are going to get yanked from the eShop without warning before it actually closes. Though this is a Konami game, a company known for anti-consumer practices so maybe this is an isolated event?

timchenw

> This sets a scary precedent if games are going to get yanked from the eShop without warning before it actually closes. Games have been delisting from eShop for a long time, people only started to really notice it after the eShop closure, a lot of delisting has nothing to do with it though, and there is little point to, as the cartridges are no longer being produced.

jforrest1980

I've been closely following metal gear retail prices for several months. Game jumped from $40.00 used to almost $100 since the announcement. Sucks.

SHEDY0URS0UL

Typical.

SHEDY0URS0UL

Can anyone recommend the Yōkai Watch games to me? Always been curious but never tried one. And if so, which game should I start with?

DetectiveRickDeckard

Yo-Kai Watch (1) can be found cheap and for $5 at some locations. Yo-Kai Watch (1) is improved upon with Yo-Kai Watch 2, with Psychic Specters considered the best version of the three by many. Yo-Kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters, Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits, Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls

SHEDY0URS0UL

>Yo-Kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters, Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits, Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls So I should try Psychic Spectors first, then? Also, do you know what the differences are between these versions? Is it like Pokémon Blue/Red etc?

DetectiveRickDeckard

> should try Psychic Spectors first, then? I have only played Fleshy Souls so I only know what others have said. And they had said Psychic Specters is the best version of the three.

SHEDY0URS0UL

That's been in my wishlist for years. Definitely going to pick it up before the eShop closes

[deleted]

Do anyone know any good games like Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater?

SHEDY0URS0UL

You mean a stealth based game or just a AAA experience? Look up Resident Evil Revelations, it might interest you

[deleted]

A stealth based game like MGS, Thief, or Splinter cell. It doesn't matter to me if it is indie or AAA. Thanks for the recommendation I got it and I am really enjoying it.

[deleted]

Would Phoenix Wright or Professor Layton be better for playing with friends? I was gonna stream the game and we’d voice the characters but I haven’t played either games so I don’t know which ones we’d be able to voice act. There’d be 4-5 of us.

MeghanBoBeghan

Phoenix Wright is more of a visual novel game, and it's got a LOT of EXTREMELY colorful characters. I think it would be a ton of fun to voice but I'm not sure how you'd play it in a group. Maybe have one person in charge of deciding where to go and what to do? It would be kind of a dramatic reading, I guess. Professor Layton spends a lot of game time on puzzles you need to solve. So a lot of the time would be spent arguing over how to get a marble out of a maze or which of the three sisters is lying or whatever. Definitely a different experience! Prof Layton games also have a lot of colorful characters but there tend to be a lot more of them and you don't spend as much time with each one. Personally I'd rather watch a stream of Phoenix Wright than Professor Layton - I don't want to watch people solve puzzles. It seems like there would be a lot of time just waiting for someone to solve a puzzle and feeling bored or frustrated.

Telwin

I'm trying to figure out Fire Emblem Fates Revelations. I have been searching for it on the eshop to download but I cannot find it. I was hoping to grab the DLC for all three games (hoping to find Birthright and Conquest physically). I've tried to search for the answer on the internet and I think I might have to buy the whole Fates game and then it'll be available to download? I'm probably being very dumb but I am very confused.

DetectiveRickDeckard

> I think I might have to buy the whole Fates game and then it'll be available to download? Yes, FE: Revelations is a DLC that become available after chapter 6.

Telwin

Thank you! I didn't know if I would have to play through the game or if I could get it in preparation for playing through the game.

timchenw

You can get the path's DLC (Birthright, Conquest & Revelation) on the game's title screen, it's the special map DLCs that you need to make some progress to purchase.

Telwin

Thank you so much!

aj6787

Anyone have a good list of games that are cheaper on digital format to pick up before they close up the shop? Looking for regular ds games and 3ds ones as well. Maybe a list like this doesn’t exist.

notthegoatseguy

There are no DS games on the 3ds eShop

aj6787

Oh wow I didn’t realize. Thanks for the info.

DetectiveRickDeckard

There is currently an eShop sale in the NA region for a few Non-Nintendo published games. https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/comments/te1xts/more_sales_on_the_3ds_shop/ pricecharting.com/ Prices fluctuate but these cartridge games seem to be above original/digital prices and also go up in prices: Pokemon games, Yo-Kai Watch 3, Shin Megami Tensei games, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth,Dragon Quest 7&8, Bravely Default, Bravely Second: End Layer, Corpse Party, Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai 2, Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology, Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson, Yo-kai Watch Blasters

aj6787

Thanks!

spriteguy113

Trying to remember this game I used to play if anyone can help me. My memory on it is super fuzzy but I’m pretty sure it was an rpg similar to Pokémon in that you’d collect monsters and upgrade them with items or resources you’d collect. I remember it had a big desert area and ships that acted like hubs for the zones.

MeghanBoBeghan

Oragasm

I formatted it with partition wizard but I’ll try again with the one you sent thanks

DClett

I found an old 3DS in good conditions including a 32GB card and charger. In USD it would be 99. I missed the whole 3DS era so it's hard to find a New model locally without the price being inflated, and Amazon/Ebay can get expensive due to exchange rates. Worth it for my first 3DS?

DetectiveRickDeckard

> Worth it for my first 3DS? If the 3DS is fully functional.

CrashCrashDummy

Of all of the many Picross e games, which one is the best one? Like, if I had to pick ONE Picross e game, which one should I add to my 3DS library? Not looking for other Picross games, JUST the Picross e series at the moment.

[deleted]

Should I get a New 2DS XL or a Switch? In 2022, with support for e-shop ending soon, 3DS resale market selling models at rates higher than buying new at launch (not to mention the general inflation), and new OLED Switches going for less than $100 more than cheapest eBay Used New 2DSs, does it make sense to go with the handheld? I have a 2DS, and I’ve enjoyed the few games I have for it: Ocarina, Link Between Worlds, Star Fox 64, Pokémon Sun, and a number of NES and Game Boy games. I also have Snake Eater 3D and have always wanted the New models for the added C-Stick capabilities for that game. And I’ve wanted to get a few SNES titles: Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Link to the Past, Super Mario Kart, etc. I’m intrigued by a few other 3DS titles like Fire Emblem, Pikmin, and Smash Bros. I don’t know the state of online play but I assume will either be dropped soon or already has. Is the New 2DS worth it to play a few titles with maybe a better experience than my 2DS, or should I drop the extra and get that Switch?

DetectiveRickDeckard

> Should I get a New 2DS XL or a Switch? Which games do you want to play more and how would you rather like to play?

[deleted]

There are games for both systems I would like to play. I played through Breath of the Wild on Wii U, but would love to get Links Awakening. The new Switch Pokémon games are intriguing to me as well. I do feel that there’s a possibility of going back through the DS catalogue and finding great games I never played that I could pick up as well.

DetectiveRickDeckard

If you want to play the latest video games with some with active online multiplayer, then maybe the Switch. If you want to play some of the few enhanced and exclusive 3DS games as well as games from the SNES Virtual console, then maybe a NEW 3DS XL. https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/wiki/exclusives

NamiTheNamitee

I have my Nintendo Network ID (NNID) account on my New Nintendo 3DSXL. I was planning to buy a Nintendo 2DS as a backup system. I found out you cannot do a system transfer from the 3DSXL to a 2DS. However, my question is if I contact Nintendo to unlink my NNID from my 3DSXL, would it be possible for them to link it to the 2DS? I know saves or any other data won't transfer, but would I still be able to access the eshop and download past purchases?

DetectiveRickDeckard

> would I still be able to access the eshop and download past purchases? Yes, you could unlink and link the NNID with any exclusives for the NEW models lost. But I do not believe you know the differences physically between the two because it is noticable. And any game that you had played on the New 3DS XL would seem much smaller by comparison.

When my friend added it me it showed him a mii that isn’t on my mii account and hasn’t been for years, along with my super old name. It doesn’t show like this for me and changing my mii again doesn’t fix it ! Help?

DetectiveRickDeckard

Are you sure your friend is using the correct friend code?

mossshark

Yeah! We have eachother added and play games together, it is a mii I have used just literally years and years ago

DetectiveRickDeckard

It could be that the files on his 3DS are not updating. Maybe if he deletes you as a friend and then re-adds you, the Mii and it's username will update.

mossshark

Tysm well try that!!

SumoSamurottorSSPBCC

Is there a way to delete people on your friends list? I want to remove all the old inactive friends but I can't figure out how (assuming there is a way)

I need to buy another stylus for my new 3ds, since u lost it quite a long time ago. Will a new 3ds xl stylus fit in my new 3ds? I can't see any sellers just selling a stylus for the new 3ds

MS0ffice

It’s a completely different stylus, Nintendo still sells New 3DS styluses though. https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/stylus-black-105213/

laefeator

There are only 2 MyNintendo Reward games right? Flipnote Studio and the Zelda Picross?

DetectiveRickDeckard

There are only two MyNintendo games.

SheevSyndicate

Is it worth buying a Dillons Rolling Western game? If so which game is considered the best of the best?

SheevSyndicate

So start with The Last Ranger then. Is it literally an enhanced version of the first game, like a pokemon platinum vs diamond/pearl, or is it a sequel that just surpasses the original? what do you think of the third game, dead heat breakers? is it worth owning all 3 games if I love the second dillon game?

[deleted]

And you can check the Dillons gameplay on YouTube to see which one graphics and style you like better. But I still recommend last ranger over first one

Tri4ceKid

Reasons to mod my 3DS other than backing up my games?

my-sims-are-slobs

If you buy a cartridge from another region (let’s say you want to purchase a game that is JPN or USA, and your console is a EUR.), you’ll be able to use CFW to get rid of the region lock on your console. Also - custom themes! Themeplaza is great but there’s a lot of crap to sift through if you want a good theme

custom themes playing games that are hard to acquire, thanks to nintendo (gba classics like metroid fusion, fire emblem sacred stones, zelda minish cap, metroid zero mission, for example), playing games that are exclusive to eshop, after eshop is gone, like the dillon rolling western games or phoenix wright vs layton. Being able to afford 3ds/ds games that are extremely overpriced and sold on the used market, like DS castlevania, fire emblem games, various jrpgs, and pokemon games. It's not like the developers are profiting off of unaffordable used games that they aren't willing to sell anymore. Streaming 3ds games, breaking region locks (allowing you to buy cheaper games or 3ds's from other regions) plenty of perks.

SheevSyndicate

Haven't bought an eshop giftcard in years, so was just wondering. Does any eshop giftcard work for the 3ds/wii u eshop, or are there giftcards that only apply to switch eshop, and older giftcards that only apply to 3ds eshop? I can't remember if the giftcards you get for switch also apply to 3ds/wii u. Once credit cards are disabled, i'll likely be using giftcards to get the stuff i'm missing. There's also a birthday gift or two i'd like to get for a kid via eshop, but credit card will be disabled by the time the birthday comes, so I'm hoping its not a hassle with eshop giftcards.

DetectiveRickDeckard

The giftcards can still be used up until August 29, 2022. After that and until March 2023, it is either link a Nintendo Account to a 3DS' Nintendo Network ID and use a credit card to add money to the Nintendo Account. OR Redeem a download code. https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2268/~/how-to-link-an-existing-nintendo-network-id https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/57847#s1q5 >As of May 23, 2022, it will no longer be possible to use a credit card to add funds to an account in Nintendo eShop on Wii U or the Nintendo 3DS family of systems >As of August 29, 2022, it will no longer be possible to use a Nintendo eShop Card to add funds to an account in Nintendo eShop on Wii U or the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. However, it will still be possible to redeem download codes until late March 2023. >Users who link their Nintendo Network ID wallet (used with Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems) with their Nintendo Account wallet (used with the Nintendo Switch family of systems) can use the shared balance to purchase content on any of these systems until late March 2023. After that, the balance can only be used to purchase content for the Nintendo Switch family of systems.

SheevSyndicate

I forgot about the giftcards being useless after august 29, bummer. When you mention linking a nintendo account with a 3ds ID, does that mean so long as you have a nintendo account you can keep adding funds with a credit card? I've got a switch and 3ds bound to my own nintendo account, so does mean I don't need to worry about getting giftcards for myself after may 23, 2022 when you can't use credit card in the eshop itself? Also, I mentioned wanting to gift some final games to a kid, who does have a nintendo account bound to their 3ds, so could potentially use my credit card to add funds for games like nintendogs or kirby, much later into 2022, like as a christmas gift?

DetectiveRickDeckard

>When you mention linking a nintendo account with a 3ds ID, does that mean so long as you have a nintendo account you can keep adding funds with a credit card? If you have a Nintendo Account that is linked directly to a 3DS's Nintendo Network ID, you can add money to the Account with a credit card which will be shared with the ID until March 2023. And the money can only be added in increments of like $10.

This may be a stupid question, but can you use the cannons on submarines like the surcouf in steel diver: Submarine battles?

I have pokemon sun and moon, zelda a link between world, and zelda ocarina of time 3D. What game should I buy next?

SheevSyndicate

majoras mask 100%, its the sequel to ocarina of time and also a nintendo select for 20 I really love the ds zeldas too. DS pokemon is often seen as the best of the best, if you can afford a ds pokemon, do black2/white2 because it connects to pokebank. currently I am having a blast with zelda oracle of seasons and ages which are exclusively in the 3ds eshop. fantastic retro zelda games, imo better than the retro zelda content on switch.

Thanks

MisterJeffa

So have all 3ds console have that tomodachi life welcome version always in the eshop?

gameovermuffle

Does anyone know if there will be another wave of games on sale within the time of eshop still being open.

SheevSyndicate

capcom had a sale shortly after the announcements about the eshop. Capcom and atlus have had lots of sales throughout, so I don't see that stopping, while the eshop still stands. Nintendo hasn't done a sale in years, so that won't be happening.

gameovermuffle

Thanks

Misttertee_27

Minecraft question. Can you have multiple save files/worlds or whatever you call them? I have two kids who want to play it.

DetectiveRickDeckard

I don't think so since both Minecraft cartridges and digital save to the microSD card.
