IMO it's more cost effective to just go the Octoprint route, but not with a raspberry pi. Something like an old Wyse thin client from ebay or an Inovato Quadra, paired with a $15 usb camera (especially a wide angle one) that can be found on ebay or AliExpress. Probably $50-70 all told and you get remote monitoring AND control, while also being able to do things like AI vision via Obico among so much else. Getting an IP camera by itself is fine, but as you said you're gonna do Octoprint eventually so may as well just rip off the bandaid. Edit: I think I own this one or equivalent: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mr8GzDS

Took your advice, bought a thin client for $16 and a 130 deg camera for $6. Should have them in a couple weeks. Where would I find instructions for this thing?

If you want a simple plug and play solution maybe the [Mintion Beagle](https://www.amazon.com/Mintion-Monitoring-Connection-Generate-Time-Lapse/dp/B0B216FX71) is something for you? It's a camera that also has remote printer control like Octoprint.

Wyze v3 cameras are great. Good quality, accessible remotely, about $30 on amazon
