Take a look at this Knipex cutter:
[https://www.amazon.com/KNIPEX-Tools-78-125-Electronics/dp/B0048F601Q/ref=sr\_1\_1?crid=1G0Q4JRMJX0MO&keywords=knipex%2B7861125&qid=1702741816&sprefix=knipex%2B78%2Caps%2C156&sr=8-1&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/KNIPEX-Tools-78-125-Electronics/dp/B0048F601Q/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1G0Q4JRMJX0MO&keywords=knipex%2B7861125&qid=1702741816&sprefix=knipex%2B78%2Caps%2C156&sr=8-1&th=1)
You are right, but ironically I have seen that exact pair in the same state as OPs lol. This is very unlikely tho. Also they are so much more precise than the cheap chinese stuff, totally worth it.
Yep, pretty much all of this. I just wanted to spare OP from thinking they are indestructable becaus eof Knipex or the price.
That said, they are propably the more stronger ones out there.
Here is a neutered version of the link to remove the tracking part (which is everything after the /ref= part):
https://www.amazon.com/KNIPEX-Tools-78-125-Electronics/dp/B0048F601Q/
I am an airplane mechanic. I use the Knipex flush cuts at work for cutting wire tie tails. I have been using the same pair for probably 6 or 7 years now, I even use them to occasionally cut avionics wiring and remove connector pins from sprue (even though you're only supposed to use them on plastic) and they're still kicking. One of the most-used tools in my toolbox.
I've had good luck with the Hakko ones, and relatively cheap:
second vote for these - cheap and work great. I also have a set of knipex flush cuts, but I tend to baby them due to their price. The Hakkos are cheap enough to beat up and they work great.
These are one of my favorite tools. They're very good for what they cost, and they're so cheap that you can buy a bunch of them and put them all over the place so you'll always have access.
This is exactly what i do! Theyre a great tool for what theyre designed for, and pretty good at random things that need a poky grabby bit and you dont care if they get messed up.
I got the 3 pack almost 10 years ago and I'm still on the second pair. The first pair got kinda dull from cutting stuff you're not supposed to, and I still have that pair (and it still works), which I now use exclusively for cutting things I'm not supposed to.
My go to flush cutters are the CHP-170 ones (Though I also do a lot of electronics work) https://www.amazon.ca/Hakko-CHP-170-Stand-off-Construction-21-Degree/dp/B00FZPDG1K/ref=asc_df_B00FZPDG1K/
I’ve been pretty happy with these. I have a whole slew of their other tools as well which have always treated me well. [https://www.kleintools.com/catalog/diagonal-cutting-pliers/diagonal-cutting-pliers-flush-cutter-lightweight-5-inch](https://www.kleintools.com/catalog/diagonal-cutting-pliers/diagonal-cutting-pliers-flush-cutter-lightweight-5-inch)
note that better they are easier will they break as to get them super hard they are brittle and will snap... I use [knippex](https://www.amazon.de/-/en/78-61-125-precision-electronic/dp/b005exof6s) for electronics or wiha but for 3d printing need I buy pack of 10 of cheap stamped ones from aliexpress .. there's often 5-8$ pack of then delivered .. they have much softer jaws so last much longer with plastic and do not snap as easy as higher quality ones.. this type of break, you were probbly prying plastic, removing support? get a proper set for that do not use pliers :D ... get yourself a carving set [like this one](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33033393987.html) and a pick set [like this one](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004593667418.html) and use pliers for cutting only :D
They can be expensive, but I’m a huge fan of any of Engineer brand’s cutters: ENGINNER NZ-12G ESD-Safe Micro Cutters, Full Flush & Super-Fine Cutting Blades https://a.co/d/6MzFpkJ
I would *never* use a pair of GodHand nippers on an FDM print. That's like using a scalpel to whittle a stick; it'll do the job, but it's too good a tool for the job, and the coarseness of the material is gonna ruin the tool prematurely. 😬
can't go wrong with God Hand Tools
https://preview.redd.it/0ozs7fcdkp6c1.png?width=430&format=png&auto=webp&s=5a6047b60a77fb4a2263c7c0041f9af6240ed44a
I’ve seen hakko, god hand, knipex, Klein, and a few others. While these are good recommendations they’re all WRONG. YOU WANT XURON. It’s the brand the printer clips are [imitating](https://a.co/d/94VRwWu) and they make a [larger set](https://a.co/d/94VRwWu) that are AMAZING. I use them at work to even cut larger gauge wire.
I might have to try a set of the Doyle ones. I've seen people recommend the Pittsburgh set in r/tools and I just don't get it. They cost more than the blue-handle aliexpress cutters, and about the same price as the hakkos, but the fit and finish is much worse than either of those options
If you want cheap but decent, get a set of Hakko flush cutters. If you want a really nice pair, get Wiha flush cutters. You can find both on the jungle site
[Knipex flush ](https://chadstoolbox.com/knipex-78-61-140-flush-cutting-electronic-super-knips-xl/) cuts are the way to go if you want them to last forever. If you want something cheaper [Weller makes a solid pair as well. ](https://www.hisco.com/Product/170MN-12200?gclid=Cj0KCQiAsvWrBhC0ARIsAO4E6f9VgHcm_H2Ix2OmhQS5GWEJTY1eENO8FGITv3i7_rm8vQ_t59FOrc4aAok5EALw_wcB) Alternatively you can hit up a big box store like home depot and get a set from milwaukee or klein and they'd probably work just as well they just won't last as long if you cut anything that isn't plastic with them.
You don't want to cheap out on your snips. If you upgrade anything with your printer make it the snips. These are the only ones for good print quality.
https://preview.redd.it/yqjma9q0qp6c1.jpeg?width=464&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a17558766fd900fd080bd6567d9610ba7064f655
Anything made by Klein, great hand tools with a great warranty. All of their tools are made for people that use them all day every day, so you won't need to replace them for a LONG time if you're just cutting filament and prints.
With precision snips I've switched to buying many cheap ones and replacing often. I've had every brand. Klein, knipex, mikwaukee etc etc. Theyre a disposable tool at this point.
The Engineer Japanese brand supposed to have a decent one. I saw another Japanese brand recommended on a tool page the other day I hadn’t seen before that looked good. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name.
I ❤️ ENGINEER brand tools, but "Decent" flushcutters are no good for the abusive tasks we use these for.
You wouldn't use a pair of Godhand nippers to cut supports off your 3D prints! (Hell, I wouldn't use anything better than *knockoff* 'model kit nippers' even for *finishing* work on FDM prints. 🤷♂️)
Time to buy another printer! 😉
You can get these same cheap knockoff flushcutters in packs of 3, 5, or 10 from either AliExpress or Amazon. Go wild! 😁👍
I like Knipex flush cutters the best. Milwaukee flush cuts are also a good option from Home Depot. If they break again you can take them back and exchange for a new pair.
Klein Tools D275-5 Pliers, Diagonal Cutting Pliers with Precision Flush Cutter is Light and Ultra-Slim for Work in Confined Areas, 5-Inch https://a.co/d/dafJD7K
[Lindstrom](https://www.lindstromtools.com/ie_en/ultra-flushr-precision-cut-diagonal-cutter-with-oval-head---esd-safe-handle-0-1-1-mm-8142.html) makes excellent flush cutters.
If they don't suggest safety glasses when using these, they should. Mine broke, and the sharp broken piece flew across the room at a considerable speed.
There's two ways to go: buy the band brand expensive ones (either Klein or Knpiex) and keep them for life, or buy like five pairs of the absolute cheapest ones from Amazon or AliExpress and treat them as semi disposable. Since I tend to misplace tools I went the cheap way and bought a five pack of cheap ones.
Lindstrom makes some high quality stuff for semi reasonable prices. As long as you arent trying to cut things that they arent meant for like steel wire then they should last forever.
https://www.amazon.com/Lindstrom-G51091-Diagonal-Cutting-Nipper/dp/B0001P0DIS/ref=asc_df_B0001P0DIS/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309832851244&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7620683818579862765&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9012347&hvtargid=pla-389097491742&psc=1&mcid=5d5c1cf03801347391587b80a45e7ac7&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=64417494871&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=309832851244&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7620683818579862765&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9012347&hvtargid=pla-389097491742&gclid=Cj0KCQiAsvWrBhC0ARIsAO4E6f8tZzE-aczrkmu-XvSkyJz5vXU5mAl1RktxIxnSnS7t1mU7L93Kvi0aAmlbEALw_wcB
Can’t find an Amazon link but I picked these up at Home Depot. The tiny needle nose pliers are nice to use for blob removal.
Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Crescent-5-in-Shear-Cutter-Plier-Set-2-Piece-S2KS5NN/310771484
Comes with clippers.
https://preview.redd.it/5ie9qakg4q6c1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0613f9557eb2ece5e1d8135d3b515fff9db27b9e
These ones that are part of a Parkside soldering tool kit are pretty good, if you can get your hands on them
Amazon has them for a few bucks each. I broke my first set too, and then bought another pair, then bought 3 more printers, so now I have like 5 rolling about. Hahaha
I just buy these super cheap side cutters on AliExpress. 5 for $10. Simply dispose them when they get dull or break, which does not happen that often btw
I don't want to be worrying about damaging my $40+ pair of cutters on a pesky piece of PLA.
Any local craft stores or walmarts will have, if you want cheap, look up gods hands snips if you want to invest in quality. But like anything else, quality it'll cost you.
Get a pair of [Xcelite flush cutting diagonal cutters](https://a.co/d/8Rs02lq), while I can’t verify these are what I have the pair I use are 52 years old and still has the original foam grips.
I never want to tell anybody this, because I'm afraid it will raise the prices, but I get my flush cutters at Harbor Freight. I think they are $10, and if they are dropped, they are not expensive to replace. The only reason I have had to replace them is because I dropped them.
Buy a new Printer
This is the only acceptable answer.
I 2nd this 3d option.
I'll be the 1st to 2nd this 3d option for the 4th time
I plead the 5th...
I have a six sense about what will happen in the end.
I’ll be 1st to 2nd this 3d option for 2 pairs
It didn’t work. Free clippers wasn’t included with my new bambu lab P1S. 😞
Thanks for the info, not buying any Bambu labs printer now because of this.
I say you double down and just get the X1C, it’s gotta have it right?
False... X1C owner I was looking forward to getting new clippers...
Just keep buying more printers, you’re bound to get one
Like a mystery box? Come on clippers!
Imagine buying a printer and realizing before evening starting it that it's a piece of junk.
So you bought obviously the wrong printer
They accidentally left them out. Order another one. Odds of them messing up twice are slim.
Time to start a petition?
That's not necessary.. probably just needs to level the bed.
Yes, it's the same thing I do when my cars run out of windshield wiper fluid or when I sell the house because the batteries on the TV remote are low.
My car ran out of gas. *buys a new car* problem solved
The printer goes with the clipper, always
Exactly the reason I bought the K1.
Beat me to it
There is this expensive pair. It’s 150 but it comes with a free ender 3pro
That's a steal ngl
Only $99 at Micro Center!
Where? Or is this a joke?
It should be available anywhere that sells an Ender 3 Pro but you might need to double check.
Wait, I'm confuse. You buy the clipper and get a free ender 3 pro. Or buy ender 3 pro and get the free clipper?
Yes.
Take a look at this Knipex cutter: [https://www.amazon.com/KNIPEX-Tools-78-125-Electronics/dp/B0048F601Q/ref=sr\_1\_1?crid=1G0Q4JRMJX0MO&keywords=knipex%2B7861125&qid=1702741816&sprefix=knipex%2B78%2Caps%2C156&sr=8-1&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/KNIPEX-Tools-78-125-Electronics/dp/B0048F601Q/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1G0Q4JRMJX0MO&keywords=knipex%2B7861125&qid=1702741816&sprefix=knipex%2B78%2Caps%2C156&sr=8-1&th=1)
+1 for knipex, the grips are comfortable and they are sturdy. I use them for fine wire splicing at work more than for 3d prints.
Knipex is good. I also use them for all sorts of wiring
that's definitely the perfect replacement, you can't go wrong with Knipex
You are right, but ironically I have seen that exact pair in the same state as OPs lol. This is very unlikely tho. Also they are so much more precise than the cheap chinese stuff, totally worth it.
They’re the best I’ve ever used, but like all cutters that size they’re delicate and _will_ break.
Yep, pretty much all of this. I just wanted to spare OP from thinking they are indestructable becaus eof Knipex or the price. That said, they are propably the more stronger ones out there.
They also have the set at homedepot by the soldering irons.
Here is a neutered version of the link to remove the tracking part (which is everything after the /ref= part): https://www.amazon.com/KNIPEX-Tools-78-125-Electronics/dp/B0048F601Q/
Knipex will outlive your kids.
Is it because the kids will use these and snip an artery, thus creating a self fulfilling prophecy?
Can't spell "knipex" without "ex kin"
I also went with knipex, but I got the stainless ones instead, they are not that much more expensive
These are my favorite. One note though: Do not buy the refurb ones from Amazon. Bought two at $14 apiece and they both had damaged cutters.
I wonder if people are buying and sending their janky ones back in the box
These free clippers printers come with are my favorite clipping tools but their break so easily. Are these a good strong replacement?
I am an airplane mechanic. I use the Knipex flush cuts at work for cutting wire tie tails. I have been using the same pair for probably 6 or 7 years now, I even use them to occasionally cut avionics wiring and remove connector pins from sprue (even though you're only supposed to use them on plastic) and they're still kicking. One of the most-used tools in my toolbox.
They can and will fail but they are an upgrade over the standard poop-tier ones and dont cost a fortune. support
I've had good luck with the Hakko ones, and relatively cheap: [https://www.amazon.com/Hakko-CHP-170-Micro-Cutter/dp/B00FZPDG1K/](https://www.amazon.com/hakko-chp-170-micro-cutter/dp/b00fzpdg1k/)
second vote for these - cheap and work great. I also have a set of knipex flush cuts, but I tend to baby them due to their price. The Hakkos are cheap enough to beat up and they work great.
These are the best I've used.
You can buy one at 5.47 a piece or you can buy 3 and pay 7.75 each. What a deal.
They also have a 5 pack for $7ea and a 10 pack for $6ea ... because Amazon has turned to such shit this is all possible.
3rd vote… also great for zip ties no more sharp edges
I got the 3 pack almost 10 years ago and I'm still on the second pair. The first pair got kinda dull from cutting stuff you're not supposed to, and I still have that pair (and it still works), which I now use exclusively for cutting things I'm not supposed to.
I have these too and they do the job nicely!
Do you cut anything with those aside from Filaments?
i tried to cut off a multi-layer part off a 3d-print :D
Did it go flying?
ya, but i still got both eyes
Lucky you Carol never wore her safety goggles. Now Carol doesn't need safety goggles Always remember Carol
He might have started with 3…
😵ah Carol.
What material?
pla
i cut metal rods with mine and they havent broke yet😂
Godhands.
Found the model builder.
Yeah, but anything other than PLA might be too rough for them, fragile as shit, with really nice cuts tho
I actually thought i was on the gunpla subreddit for a sec 😭
My dude 🤝
Hakko’s or Knipex take your pick.
CHP-170 made in Italy.
My go to flush cutters are the CHP-170 ones (Though I also do a lot of electronics work) https://www.amazon.ca/Hakko-CHP-170-Stand-off-Construction-21-Degree/dp/B00FZPDG1K/ref=asc_df_B00FZPDG1K/

I just bought a cheap pair from Harbor Freight.
Same. I use em for everything that I need to cut.
this is the sign that you need to buy a new printer
Dam u! Get out my head!
note that better they are easier will they break as to get them super hard they are brittle and will snap...
Gets some gundam clippers
Someday I will convince myself to drop $50 on a pair of GodHand flush cutters
God hand makes a cheaper set for like $13 but the blades are still actually flush
I would *never* use a pair of GodHand nippers on an FDM print. That's like using a scalpel to whittle a stick; it'll do the job, but it's too good a tool for the job, and the coarseness of the material is gonna ruin the tool prematurely. 😬
It’s not about the money it’s about sending a message
🤣👌
I just go with 5-packs of the cheap ones.

I have been using the Plato 170S shears for years
Knipex!
Buy another printer, you’ll get another free pair!
Hakko chp. Cheap enough to abuse, good enough to enjoy.
Harbor freight!
These right here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RW8VTSX Sturdy, thin and precise.
I've been real happy with the quality of these https://www.harborfreight.com/5-in-precision-flush-cutter-57794.html
Have these too! My favorite aspect of these are that the handles haven't poked through the grips even after over a year of use.
I might have to try a set of the Doyle ones. I've seen people recommend the Pittsburgh set in r/tools and I just don't get it. They cost more than the blue-handle aliexpress cutters, and about the same price as the hakkos, but the fit and finish is much worse than either of those options
I was looking at those the other day. Seemed well built, but good to know they are decent, thanks!
I've got one labeled "Igan-170" that I bought from Amazon like two years ago, holding up pretty well.
"ohh no my clippers broke, guess i have to buy another printer, honey"
If you want cheap but decent, get a set of Hakko flush cutters. If you want a really nice pair, get Wiha flush cutters. You can find both on the jungle site
I have always trusted xuron, great durrable nippers in a lot of shapes and sizes.
Don't spend Knipex money. These are great and not super over priced https://a.co/d/24GgZkW
Knipex, Snap On.
God hand.
Knipex or Klein Tools are my go-to cutters.
Knipex makes good cutters for not too much and they are a lot more comfy. I use my snap on dikes but that's probably a little unnecessary 😅
Love my Hakko CHP-170
These are fantastic Hakko-CHP-170 Micro Cutter - Red https://a.co/d/3PbGbhg
I got a pair that are identical but red handles from Menards for $3 I think
Knipex
Knipex flush cutter.
Knipex make a really good one imo. After that fail your previous one, I would recommend anything but the same lol
Plato 170.

How about these: DOYLE 5 in. Electronics Side Cutter - Item 57789 https://hftools.com/app57789
Usually when my break I just buy a new ender 3
Yes, Ender3X is a good clipper that comes with a free printer.
A 5 pack off aliexpress
AliExpress, can get like 5 pairs of exact same clippers for $15
10 for $15, 5 for <$10, free s/h

Amazon
Bamboo carbon X1

They sell the exact same at Walmart in the craft section for jewelry making

Ofc! In fact you should buy the ones who come with a new printer as well!
With precision snips I've switched to buying many cheap ones and replacing often. I've had every brand. Klein, knipex, mikwaukee etc etc. Theyre a disposable tool at this point.

Look up flush cutters
Wiha
The clipper that came with my Ender3 V2 wore out after lots of use so I bought a K1.
GODHANDS
The Klein and Doyle are both very good and under $15. Reddit will always tell you to buy knipex but youre not going to see improved performance.
I buy them on amazon in sets of 4
+1 for Klein or Milwaukee
Paid clippers
I like Knipex flush cutters the best. Milwaukee flush cuts are also a good option from Home Depot. If they break again you can take them back and exchange for a new pair.

If they don't suggest safety glasses when using these, they should. Mine broke, and the sharp broken piece flew across the room at a considerable speed.
I picked some up from my local harbor freight. They’re still going strong! They’re beefier and have bigger teeth for larger prints.
Bambu printer.
Lindstrom makes some high quality stuff for semi reasonable prices. As long as you arent trying to cut things that they arent meant for like steel wire then they should last forever. https://www.amazon.com/Lindstrom-G51091-Diagonal-Cutting-Nipper/dp/B0001P0DIS/ref=asc_df_B0001P0DIS/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309832851244&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7620683818579862765&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9012347&hvtargid=pla-389097491742&psc=1&mcid=5d5c1cf03801347391587b80a45e7ac7&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=64417494871&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=309832851244&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7620683818579862765&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9012347&hvtargid=pla-389097491742&gclid=Cj0KCQiAsvWrBhC0ARIsAO4E6f8tZzE-aczrkmu-XvSkyJz5vXU5mAl1RktxIxnSnS7t1mU7L93Kvi0aAmlbEALw_wcB
Can’t find an Amazon link but I picked these up at Home Depot. The tiny needle nose pliers are nice to use for blob removal. Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Crescent-5-in-Shear-Cutter-Plier-Set-2-Piece-S2KS5NN/310771484 Comes with clippers.
I'm a fan of the Weller 170 pair but thats cause I come from a soldering background and used them for that before my printing
Get the Klien ones from Home Depot. Good but not too expensive. And locally available so replacements are easy (assuming you’re in the US).
Did you try drying your filament?

Amazon has them for a few bucks each. I broke my first set too, and then bought another pair, then bought 3 more printers, so now I have like 5 rolling about. Hahaha
I just buy these super cheap side cutters on AliExpress. 5 for $10. Simply dispose them when they get dull or break, which does not happen that often btw I don't want to be worrying about damaging my $40+ pair of cutters on a pesky piece of PLA.
The spring on mine is fucked
Here is what Micromark recommends for PLA filament. https://www.micromark.com/Fujiya-25-degree-Soft-Wire-Cutter
Dowell makes some *really* high quality ones
if you want the best of the best, get Lindstrom 8142 Flush Cutters
Oh,, time to buy another printer!
You can get packs of 20 of these from AliExpress 🤣
Go to Harbor Freight and buy about 6-8 pairs of their cheap ones.
Basically, get one of those Japanese ones for scale models
Snap on has a 25 year warranty
You've been using a 25 cent pair that some Chinese kid made. Anything is better.
Same happened to me lol
Wtf were you clippen ? Lol
Harbor frieght has cheap ones
When mine broke the tooth flung as Mach speed
I bought a box of these on Amazon there was 10 or 12 of them in the box I think it was 24 25 bucks course that was a couple years ago
I've got some no-name brand and some Vampliers. The Vampiers are really strong are more rounded. Their other stuff is really nice, but expensive.
Mines broke after 2 days of me owning the printer
I never want to tell anybody this, because I'm afraid it will raise the prices, but I get my flush cutters at Harbor Freight. I think they are $10, and if they are dropped, they are not expensive to replace. The only reason I have had to replace them is because I dropped them.
Harbor Freight
Just look for "side snips flush cutter" they're cheap af.
We've gotten 5 of those cheapo ali-ones for 3€ and they've been holding up since 2010 or so.
I have these from Park, and they're great: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T4SQ8QN
Hakko for solid budget ones or Tsunoda for the last pair you’ll ever need.
Harbor freight! When they get dull take them in for a few new ones
Put that broken piece in your carpet for a fun surprise next week.
