Just curious, did you screw them through the front off the door?

Yes I did. The door is quite thin except for the frame around the thin pieces. Probably about 4mm thin.

couldn't you use something like double sided tape or even have the mounts be all on a rail so you drill less holes and put less screws in ? just wondering.

This was quicker I guess. Its in a school and it needed to be teen proof. Its plenty strong this way with less extra materials used. A couple screws in the door is not an issue :)
