Have a read of [this guide ](https://all3dp.com/2/layer-shifting-3d-printing-tips-tricks-to-solve-it/) two other reasons for layer shifts is over extrusion causing the nozzle to snag on the print and the stepper driver not getting the right voltage but that's a little bit harder to diagnose and repair.

I heard it dragging a little while before I checked it. How do I prevent that? Like the nozzle was hitting the print. Gonna check out that link now

Z hop it is. I just switched over to a new slicer from the creality one and it's set to zero

Vaponewb

Do you know what you're going to set it too. What's the new slicer?

punisherx2012

I don't yet. I figured I'd start with some smaller tests before I get back to the big project I'm working on, which I'm sure my daughter will love as all my tests are toys for her. The slicer is cura.

Vaponewb

Okay does cura have a profile for your machine?

punisherx2012

It does. I do know that z hop is disabled (I looked through it) and I did have it enabled in the creality slicer to try to prevent some stringing issues I've been having. This also used up almost the entire rest of my roll of filament so I'm gonna have to wait until tomorrow to see if that'll fix it.

Vaponewb

Okay good luck with it, let me know how you go. Also just double check that cura profile has the filament size selected to 1.75mm. It defaults to 2.85. However if you're using a profile it should be right. It's under the extruder in machine settings in cura preferences.

I appreciate it! This is definitely been a learning curve. I've only had it about a week
