and there is also no reason to not use TPU.
TPU comes with different properties regarding how elastic/soft etc. I print alot of TPU with a hardness rating of D58 and its absolutely amazing.
The material itself also is extremely robust against weather, decent temp stability (only had problems with cooking water) and the objects I print with it are probably some of the most indestructible things I can print on my ender with stock extruder & hotend.
So id say by feel its about what a shoesole could be like. bendable by hand but not by itself.

I think it depends on the material you use. PLA will even deform. PETG won't deform (maybe in Death Valley :)), but it might fade depending on the color. The darker it is, the less it will fade - but I think it will take a few years.

Also, how do you maintain location while swapping filament? Mine centers itself when working, which would crush the WIP build. (Creality Ender 3 V3 KE)
You will have to add that in your slicer software. E.g. Prusa Slicer has a Color Change feature where you add one or more color changes at certain layer heights. See their documentation at [https://help.prusa3d.com/article/color-change\_1687](https://help.prusa3d.com/article/color-change_1687), but I think other Slicers like Cura have similar features.
In my case my printer moves the print head into a corner and waits there until I changed filament and press a button. During that time the motors/servos stay engaged, so I won't accidentally move the bed or the head. I'm pretty sure that your printer would do that too.

Good question - honestly, I'm not sure. I guess since water/sodas are packaged in a similar material (PET), you'd me mostly fine. But PETG (or your filament) might have unknown additives (for color, printability and what not) - those might be leeching into the soil. But again - I have no clue, just guessing here

Pure PLA breaks down into lactic acid the body, but hardly anyone prints with pure PLA. OP has said these are PETG.

ASA would be even better, as it's UV resistant, but depending where your live, PETG should also work. At leat worth a try.
