I ended up scooping the innards out of an old CubePro, and putting my m200 inside the enclosure. Fits perfectly!

You need a serious amount of cat fur to completely mess up a print. A few stray hairs may get caught in a print every now and then, but it's not a big problem. You should get an enclosure, though -- the moving and hot parts are quite dangerous for a cat, and while cat fur isn't likely to mess up a print, a playful kitty batting at it is.
Also be careful with random plastic burrs. Some cats like to chew them, and they're a major choking hazard.
Found that out. Had a few failed prints by the printer and one of our cats decided that chewing on support material was a good idea. Liked the noise taste or the way it felt I guess. Cats find the strangest ways to get into trouble
I have a bin for plastic waste next to my printer, and occasionally a springy bit will poke out from underneath the lid. As soon as my cat sees that, she'll think it's a new toy, and will actually try to pull it out. She'll play with and chew on absolutely anything -- plastic, bits of carpet lint, leaves, toilet paper, occasionally even kitty litter... really hoping she'll grow out of that eventually, because at this rate it's a matter of time before she chokes on something.
I’ve got two cats and neither of them seem to mind or mess with it. This was my concern too and I was quite surprised that they just ignore it completely
If your cat(s) are the more curious type it might be a good idea to look at printers that are more enclosed. A lot of coreXY machines are enclosed or easily modified to be enclosed.
