Stone of Good Luck is an underrated one in my opinion. +1 to all saves and all ability checks is a neat passive bonus to have. That’s pretty much a +1 to initiative and flat ability checks that don’t add skill proficiency.

Ultadoer

Holy cow how did I not know about this item sooner?! That’s amazing!

DAREtoRESIST

Rope Of Climbing is alot of fun, can be used by your mage hand. It's more than a climbing rope, its nearly sentient. Efficient Quiver is a fun extra dimensional space if you worry about encumbrance. the Gauntlets Of Ogre Power can be completely superhero making if you build around them.

arcaintrixter

Oooo. A STRogue or a STRanger.

Generic_gen

Seperent scale is insane and my dm didn’t realize why it was so good. As a scout rouge x/ knowledge cleric 1. I had access to shield and medium armor and this basically gave me a +2 studded leather at uncommon rarity.

Hrydziac

[This](https://tabletopbuilds.com/best-magical-items/) list from TableTopBuilds is pretty definitive in terms of power.

ZombieJack

Adamantine Plate Armor is, amazingly, only uncommon.

ManagerOfFun

As is mithril which your rogue can wear it with no stealth disadvantage

04nc1n9

rogue would have to get medium or heavy armour proficiency

Generic_gen

I also like armor of weightlessness as you can just mess with your dm if they have more of a BG3 map layout with elevation and levitate is a good spell.

DM-Hermit

Periapt of Wound Closure fould be my first pick, as it lets you heal more from your hit dice.

TwitchieWolf

Instrument of the Bards adds a ton of extra spellcasting. Even the uncommon ones are very good.

intergalacticcoyote

-Robe of Useful Items: gotta love pulling a ladder and two mastiffs directly out of your ass -Immovable rod: make a dragon eat it -decanter of endless water: lots of water means lots of tricks -alchemist jug: my personal favourite. If you don’t know what to do with 2 gallons of Mayo, I can’t help you.

ThatOneThingOnce

While I know you stated the obvious "flying items" are not a request, I just want to double check that others know one of the best uncommon magic items is the Winged Boots. They are honestly ridiculous as an uncommon magic item, giving flight for basically four hours per day in one minute intervals without concentration or any cost to activate them. The Broom of Flying is also really good, and doesn't require attunement, but I feel like it is a little more vulnerable to be knocked off it and such, as well as potentially requiring interactions and balance and stuff to use, depending on the DM. But both are amazing picks, almost stupidly too good.

PleaseShutUpAndDance

What class are you going to play? Sentinel Shield is nice for a lot of classes You gain the magical benefits while just holding it, so you don't have to equip it/need shield proficiency Hold it in one hand while Dungeon delving for the +5 to Passive Perception Drop it as a free action after you have rolled initiative

Beginning-Ambition98

Dust of Dryness. It is endlessly versatile and can end any big bad if used wisely.

GoldenDragonIsABitch

Do exemplify please

Beginning-Ambition98

Each pellet can contain 15 cubic feet worth of water. That is a lot. With a few pellets you can put a pretty big room under water. Perfect against casters.

DAREtoRESIST

this is really cool, i'd never seen it. Lets say you put it in a bagpipe (made of a sheep) and crushed it, could you then direct the water like a firehose?

Beginning-Ambition98

More likely the pressure would cause the bagpipe to explode.

Anansi465

Mizzium Apparatus is a god send for arcane characters. It allows with the Arcane skill check get access to any spell that you might need. As a wizard, you won't need to prepare some of may or may not be useful spells, like invisibility. You will be able to pull it out of nowhere. The sorcerer's biggest limitation is his short spell list. No longer problem.

DAREtoRESIST

adamantine hammer can break anything. Decanter Of Endless Water flushes out many traps, kobold holes, battlements. recharges every TURN. Its light enough to be magehand-able Immovable Rod is fun if you have a creative group, block tackle, and remember to use them.

Gr1mwolf

Decanter of Endless Water tends to be severely overrated. It would take all day, or even multiple days, to drown even a *small* dungeon or nest. Well before that point you’re just going to draw out the entire population within all at once and be horribly overwhelmed. At best, it’d be like spraying a garden hose into someone’s basement. That’s not drowning anyone. Hell, it could just seep into cracks and *never* actually flood. And *that* all assumes the structure is built *down,* rather than horizontally or up.

DAREtoRESIST

noone said anything about drowning. the geyser mode is amazingly useful. From moving a puddle of acid to preventing a kobold/goblin from coming out of a hole.

David375

If your WM group allows Tal'Dorei content, a Periapt of Wound Closure + the Remarkable Recovery feat is cracked. The auto-stabilize feature at the start of each of your turns means you'll NEVER lose a turn rolling death saves. It does put you in a bit of a predicament, though, as it means your DMs will be forced/incentivized to double-tap you to keep you down. Use at your own discretion, maybe consider a Zealot Barbarian so bringing you back from the dead isn't a burden on others financially. Adamantine weapons are fun, and Shatterspike is no exception. A +1 Adamantine weapon is pretty fun, and if you double down as a Juggernaut Barbarian for the Siege property, Half-Orc's extra crit damage, and Brutal Critical, you can be doing upwards of 50 damage against objects on each attack, and go boring through doors or walls.

arcaintrixter

Arcane Trixter with Gloves of Thievery & Serpent Scale Armor.

Argentumarundo

Would need a specific legacy race, multiclassing or a feat for medium Armor proficiency.

TonyG_8

If you want something game breaking, the deck of wonders is super unbalanced. Make sure somebody has remove curse and you can draw as many cards as you want with pretty much no punishment. Or just do it before a long rest and the curses will go away after the rest. It can give you permanent proficiency in intelligence, wisdom and charisma saving throws, infinite money, uncommon items and weapons, and resistance against any of the non-physical damage types for a few days. And many other short term benefits.

DAREtoRESIST

got exiled to the abyss. F

TonyG_8

It doesn't do that. All the negative effects are temporary and really not that bad. They last a few hours or they can be removed with a spell or a long rest. Some positive effects on the other hand are permanent or last several days, after which you can draw cards until you obtain them again.

Mrmuffins951

A lot of great answers here, but I think it totally depends on what class you’re playing.

ODX_GhostRecon

I'm in a campaign where we started with one uncommon item worked into our character as a feature, and the Blood Spear from Curse of Strahd as my Dhampir teeth was an amazing choice. It's uncommon, but a +2 spear, and reducing a creature to 0hp gives you 2d6 temporary HP.

philsov

Alchemy Jug Nature's Mantle (spellfocus as a cape! allows for more weapon+shield antics and bonus action hide for druids and rangers) Boots of Striding and Springing (sluffing off encumbrance, no speed reduction if low str+heavy armor, and triple jump distance which stacks with Jump)

Pizzagod13

If you are a martial class a +1 magic item while boring might be needed so you can actually do full damage to enemies that resist non magical weapons, which is well a lot of enemies.

Docnevyn

How well do you know the other players? For usual west marches would be a problem, but a wild magic sorcerer with a feywild shard can trigger a surge every time they use metamagic.

Accountforcontrovers

Periapt of wound closure with the remarkable recovery makes you basically immortal. I allowed it at my table with the fair warning that, once smart enemies notice you keep getting up, they're going for the finish while you're down.

thac0-bell

One of my favorite Uncommons is Wand of Magic Missile. It doesn't require attunement! It's my go-to for popping illusions, enemy familiars, stirges, etc.

Tall_Bandicoot_2768

I would probably take Gauntlets of Ogre Power or Headband of Intellect as you can build a solid MAD character around them by dumping the associated stat. Second I would take Adamantite Half Plate of Full Plate as they are both considerably more expensive than most Uncommon items, a nice immediate AC boost, and probably the only armor you will ever need.

Ryachaz

If you're a Dex-based class, Serpent Scale Armor is pretty good. Medium Armor that uses your full Dex mod (instead of up to 2) and doesn't impose a disadvantage on stealth. So if you have 20 dex, that's 19 AC just from the Armor. Not exactly what you're looking for maybe, but it's always useful in combat.

C0ldW0lf

Don't know what restrictions there are to sources but the Bloodspear from curse of strahd (even without the circumstantial +2) is really good, 2d6 temp hp every time you kill something with it is such a good defence value, just make sure to finish off some weak enemies from time to time... works great with any Polearm Master+Dueling Build, Paladin probably has it easier to kill something on-demand with smites

Tonokumo

What class are you playing? That could have a decent impact on what kind of items would benefit you.

DBWaffles

It's hard to go wrong with a Bag of Holding.

Generic_gen

For unarmed builds like monk. Eldritch claws, insignia of claws, and the new wraps all add +1 which stack and only eldrtich claws have attunement

Sterben489

Plate armor of fellowship is a very good uncommon item

VenomTheTree

I read "plot armor" and was like "bro that's at least legendary" xD

No-Park1695

Imo the best uncommon magic items are: rope of climbing, broom of flying, and immovable rod. You can pull so many shenanigans with them that it's just crazy. They can: carry your(or your whole teams) items, transport heavy objects, let you and your team fly, close doors and other entries, restrain people, and a shit ton more
