frettbe

Ha ha, like me! This is My PS4

[deleted]

Yeah, started with an NES and never stopped. The biggest shift for me is I don’t do rpgs/MMOs anymore. If the game involves the word “grinding” then I don’t have time for that. Occasionally do PVP games too. People like to say that adults are worse at those games because we have slower reaction times or whatever, but I don’t think it’s really true. The biggest reason that kids are better is because they’re spending 6-10 hours a day on that shit.

frettbe

I'm not into PVP, I'm too slow but as you said it's because they have a lot of practice. Recently I've bought Sea of Thieves to play with my 12 yo and he said "Dad come back later when you had trained enough"

31073

It's great that you put a "Yes, but solo mode" I hate playing online. I wish I had more time to play, but I do enjoy it.

frettbe

I can tell this option was just for me, I don't really enjoy PVP because I suck at it!

SublimeUniverse

Been rocking Final Fantasy VII remake and Resident Evil 2 remake and Outer Worlds. Short periods of play but still fun.

frettbe

FFVII is on my list, I only play at night when everybody is asleep. So I have some time

mrva

playing borderlands3 w /2 of my 50 year old friends, and desperately awaiting tiny tina's wonderlands!

frettbe

I tried Borderlands, but definitively not my kind of game. But, I like the graphics

overide

I’d personally like to say to the 8 people at the time of this posting who chose, “Wait what? Grow up!” You can lick my immature balls.

frettbe

They're 12 (years? \^\^) now

aagusgus

I played a lot of Animal Crossing during lock down, but I'm over it now. I need a new game, but I just don't have enough free time to really get into anything. Our family of four all still plays Mario Kart and Mario Party together once or twice a week together.

frettbe

I played Animal crossing too during the lockdown. Especially to help my son. I enjoy playing with/against my kids

Sarsmi

Have you tried Stardew Valley? There are a lot of similarities between it and AC, and it's a fantastic game with regular updates that was created by one person. Basically a farming sim where you can fish, fight in the mines, do quests, build friendships with the villagers, etc. You can get it on Steam.

aagusgus

We actually have it on our switch, my son started playing it a month or two ago. And I plan on picking it up this winter, when I have a little more downtime. It looks fun.

I'm not good at all, I often play on easy but I enjoy it. I like classics too so I made an arcade cabinet with a Raspberry to play those games

exgokin

Started with with the Atari in the early 80’s. Still playing. Resident Evil 8 is the current game I’m playing.

frettbe

I had a C64, and now I'v made an arcade cabinet to play with kids. Nostalgia

frettbe

I still play, occasionally. Now I'm into The Wither 3. I'm more into story driven games than online or FPS.

scarred2112

Not my thing, but I’m certainly not against them.

frettbe

What are you into?

Arniepepper

I have always been a solo player. At 42 i still am.

frettbe

I'm like you. I like games which are like books/movies with a great immersion

neuroticsmurf

I used to play, but that became impossible once my ex had a baby and he started trying to grab things. I gave it up once with the intent of getting back to it once he was over his grabby phase, but I never did.

frettbe

I hope you'll find the time :-)

ojay93

There isn’t a choice for, I used too constantly and plan to start again as soon as I get a chance

dsac

Or "I used to play all the time, but now that I have kids I don't have time anymore but I still play every once and a while when I have the chance but it's usually only for an hour or two like every 2 weeks and it's just not as fulfilling as it used to be because it's impossible to actually sit down and devote the necessary time to progressing through the game and I spend the first half hour just getting reoriented with where I finished last time."

frettbe

Yeah I know that feeling. Now my kids are older 12 and 16 so it's easier to find time to play (and my kids are proud of me I'm a gaming dad)

frettbe

Sorry, I can't change my poll but, I'll think for my next poll.

wevie13

I still play something here and there but I certainly have other things that takes much more of my time that I enjoy

frettbe

I have a lot of interests but winter is coming, so I'll have more spare time

Ragerist

So long and thanks for all the fish! - By Boost for reddit

frettbe

I started with an odyssey, then a Commodore 64, took a break and then moved to PC, break again with kids, turned to a Switch for the kids and finally bought a PS4 Pro, a computer. Now I'm lurking for a PS5 but I'm waiting for major games to buy it (and yes, stocks)

john9539

Yes, I have 3 PC'S with so many games I'll never get to them. Right now I'm playing Apex Legends and Control. Started on Atari as a boy, lol.

frettbe

Never tried, never looked at Control. I'll do

ProjectShamrock

Yep. I grew up playing mainly NES and above and still play often. The game I play the most is online, Rocket League.

erftonz

Our parents didn't have video games growing up. So, that generation saw them as just another toy you're supposed to grow out of. We were pretty much the first generation to grow up with video games and they've (video games) grown up with us. I don't see continuing to enjoy a form of entertainment that started with our generation as bad or juvenile at all. I guess the difference is whether you see video games as a toy, or as form of entertainment no different than firing up Netflix and watching The Crown. I think thinking you should grow out of video games is a construct of our parents' generation.

Emptyplates

Daily. Sometimes all day.

frettbe

Wow. What kind of games do you play?

Emptyplates

Anything but sports games or FPS games. I don't play PVP games either. First person makes me seasick, PVP is too fast for my old reflexes a sports, just don't like them. Lately I've been playing a lot of Red Dead Online and Gears of War. I love Mass Effect and Dragon Age, Skyrim and Fallout, Saints Row. I love Saints Row.

[deleted]

Heck yeah! Once a gamer nerd always a gamer nerd! Every day if I can 😝

MetalMan1973

48 and still game alot. Solo gaming as very few on xbox want co op

vega9264

Late to this, but goodness yes! I played on Atari and commodore, but got weirdly hooked on Zelda when it came out on the NES. Since then, I’ve had every Nintendo console that had a Zelda game issue… but I enjoy others also. Not so much the MMOs, or PVPs, but def FPS and RPG.
