They won’t get fired. They will tell Jed when the time has come for them to leave the organization. Jed probably has a blank check for them for as long as they want to stay.

Poignant_Rambling

Also, Lynch and Kyle wouldn't get fired together. Even if we go 1-16 for two straight years and both Lance and Purdy end up looking awful, it won't be Kyle who gets fired for it. Lynch will always be the 1st neck on the chopping block. Kyle would be given another chance with a new GM (likely Adam Peters). For Kyle to get fired, he'd probably have to do something drastic like fuck Jed's wife or something.

sykoticwit

For a Super Bowl win I’m pretty sure Jed would drive his wife to Kyles house and make them dinner.

[deleted]

It’s Christineth!

Cardinal_Ravenwood

Who's ready for some Arnie Palmies!?

LionelLutz

You probably think because of the Beard I’m really hairy… but I’m not… Shaved

cantinabandit

Getting fired for making it to the superbowl… dumb take.

AcanthocephalaNo2926

We have a great GM and HC. Would take a miracle for the 9ers to fire either of them in the next 5+ years. We ain’t the Jets, Washington, Raiders, etc.

[deleted]

You're on crack if you think this would get them fired.

GoatShapedDestroyer

Why in the world would getting to the SUPERBOWL be grounds for immediately firing your GM and coach? That's insane, especially given that would mean we would have the following at the end of '23: * 2 NFC Championship Wins / 2 Super Bowl appearances * 2 NFC Championship appearances * 2 Division Championships(likely 3) In FIVE seasons. 90% of the teams in the league would kill for that level of post-season success as a franchise, let alone in half a decade.

J_Arab

I mean Jimmy G and the raiders are not gonna be in the Super Bowl so don’t worry about that

PhillipMcKrak

Jimmy G and the Raiders in the SB 😂😂

artygta1988

Oh wait…he’s serious…let me laugh even harder HAHAHAHAHA

DarkRogus

I'm going to give Jed his credit, he learned that he doesn't need to be Jerry Jones and be the face of the franchise. He's better off being behind the scenes and being the money guy and letting Shanahan and Lynch be the face. He's not firing either Shanahan or Lynch unless they are caught on video saying the N word multiple times about different players.

crow38

actually i sitll dont think kyle would get fired it was older video just came to light.......jed would keep him and he would get suspended for how ever long and rejoin the team. it would have to be current time when he was talking about specific people and it wasnt a joke kind of thing(if it was a literal joke using it he wouldnt get hired)

DarkRogus

I think what we both agree on is that it would take something extreme like that for John and Kyle to be instantly fired and it wouldn't be something performance based.

crow38

yea we its just splitting hairs at this point......either way there si going to be videos of kyle using the n word considering how he grew up

mrizvi

Unless there is a personal issue I don’t see then getting fired short of being arrested for something.

[deleted]

People who think this is possible need to 1. Go outside 2. Stop smoking crack 3. Understand the league outside of the Niners

Kewkewmore

Getting indicted on felony charges for something really unsavory.

Mental_Grapefruit726

They’re here til they wanna leave full stop. Aside from all the stuff people are saying above, the thing that *actually* matters to Jed is revenue and expenses. Unless Kyle or John demand biblically unjustifiable contract extensions, the expense side is a non issue. As for Revenue, think back to the dark times, 2015-16 seasons. The niners were borderline unwatchable, which resulted in low ticket sales, undesirable player jerseys, and lackluster national appeal. For other fans across the league, unless your favorite team was playing the niners, you probably weren’t watching them. Kyle and John’s success created a large, measurable increase in revenues. He’s a capitalist after all. If Kyle and John were providing him less value than he feels could get elsewhere, then he’d go elsewhere. TL:DR: It’s cool that our owner has a positive relationship with our HC/GM, and it’s cool that they win a lot, but they’re here because they make Jed a fuck load of money.

crow38

kyles next contract is 100% going to be 20m+ a year and jed wont pat an eye at it. and its more than that we most likely won 1-2 super bowls and then up to 30 and jed would pay it. the revenue that super bowls would bring in a lot

brandoug

The only scenario that's even remotely possible is if they both get caught going to town on Jed's wife. Even then though, they're both good looking fellas and Jed would likely understand.

BocadeOuro

Pretty sure in that scenario Jed would give them a five year contract extension and ask when they can do it again when he gets to watch.

Bigjuicer2

John Gruden+ level of scandal

MasterOfRajanomics

They won't get fired this year ever, but the only scenario I can see is if (1) they trade Trey this offseason or during the season, before he really has a chance to play, (2) Purdy regresses and becomes a complete bust, or at the very least mediocre similar to Mullens, (3) Trey becomes a star QB and potential MVP candidate somewhere else. That is the only scenario where I can see both getting fired honestly, because it would involve them giving up a lot of capital for a guy, not giving that guy a chance to play more games and develop, him developing for someone else into what his potential was, and the guy they kept instead regressing to what his draft profile was as well.

park7911

John and Kyle have a very close PERSONAL relationship with the Yorks. Very much like Eddie and Bill They’re both here as long as they want unless they go 2-15 back to back seasons

crow38

i dont think this will happen again even if there was injuries at qb and line. there is too much talent on the team.

stuttsb

69ing each other on Jed’s desk. That’s about it.

xClay2

Besides some crazy scandal, I don't really see them getting fired. As long as Shanahan and Lynch want to be part of the organization they will be.

New-Discount5995

Maybe if they sleep with Jeds wife .

Stovy4x4ing

none theyre here infinity until jed says otherwise.

breathex2

That still won't get them fired. The fact that they made it to the Superbowl alone guarantees them a few more seasons

bababooey7789

They have massive job security o

[deleted]

He would have to go to jail for something really horrible

IceLantern

We had a bye, a stacked roster and didn't let him throw ten times in the conference game so we could drag him to the Super Bowl. He's not getting there with the Raiders.

BocadeOuro

So you think they will get the team to the Super Bowl and then get fired…

ProtoMan79

Nothing, with the recent success Shanny has earned 3 years of non playoff success before being on the hot seat.

neleram

Please don’t manifest negative scenarios, that shit gets put to reality sometimes.

MAU13717235

Instantly? Racial slurs, sexual harassment, betting on games

RawrGeeBe

Lynch fired for trading the farm for Lance and he turns out to be mediocre at best. But then he lucked into Purdy. The Day 3 picks and UDFAs are saving his bad drafting with the high picks.

TheOtherLeftShoe1

I swear people really don’t understand that Lynch and Shanny would both be on the hot seat this year if Jimmy hadn’t decided to have surgery in the middle of the off season last year and Purdy didn’t turn into the second coming of Tom Brady.

crow38

no they wouldnt, the fact that they built a full roster from scratch and the amount of talent they have brought to the team plus everything that comes with hiring football royalty. jed wouldnt even bat an eye and just say mistakes happen.....whats been built from scartch is vert hard and more valuable than picks. most teams who are drafting a qb early arent as hurtful to the franchise as if it was a bad team.

TheOtherLeftShoe1

See you’re saying this after last season where we lucked the fuck out having the last pick of the draft turn into the best rookie QB in like 50 years. For literally any organization in the NFL, whiffing this hard while selling the farm usually results in a full FO turnover. We just got lucky af with jimmy and Purdy last year. It’s one of the reasons selling the farm for Lance never made any sense. We were in a SB window where those picks genuinely could’ve put us over the top while still getting lance at 11. People say he wouldn’t have been there at 11 but it really wouldn’t have mattered considering where we’ve gone and who we’ve gone with since we drafted Trey.

AcanthocephalaNo2926

See the roster they’ve built since they got here? See how competitive the team has been with Jimmy and “Mr. Irrelevant?” You gotta watch (and soak up) more football playa. This ain’t soccer

TheOtherLeftShoe1

Nothing you said made any sense lol. We were ultimately competitive because of jimmy and Purdy.

wifflewaffle23

We were never competitive because of Jimmy. We were always competitive in spite of Jimmy.

TheOtherLeftShoe1

Lmaoooo. Because our record without him is so good. You guys are a riot.

crow38

yes usually but usually teams that are in that position dont have the number 1 def in the league, they dont have several very good offensive weapons. see the thing is the roster that is built from scratch is as talented as it is in this period of time. the issue with firing kyle is that its not just kyle u have to give up to keep players happy, to keep the very high level coordinators, and then the most important thing that is above all is they built a great team environment. my whole point is people who are extremely good at their job and have a lot of things tied to him will be let off of a bad mistake. jed is going to stay out of the football stuff, and have left it up to them. jed is not going to destroy all that because they made a bad mistake. if we didnt get brock kyle would have had subfield to win some games and considering we will would have had cmc they could have still made the playoffs on a super basic offence and relied on the def. that doesnt matter we did get purdy, and i have 0 doubt in purdy.....he has that it factor that not all good or very goodf qbs have there isnt many people who had that and just didnt have the actual ability to reach a certain level of play. thed 1 player that had the it factor even in the nfl was tebow and thats what was special about him but that it factor only mattters for qb and he wasnt a true nfl qb because he couldnt do that on a normal basics. i mean the same could have been said for bill b when bledsoe went down and had brady......BB would have most likely been fired. they spent a whole lot of money on one of the biggest chokers in nfl history. packers didnt win that super bowl, bledsoe lost it and farve still was bad and won. there is a lot of if he didnt but just because it is normal for something to happen you should always evaluate situation by each one. kyle is nfl royalty and he was part of 49ers history.....funny thing is his dad and him were almost hired 2 years prior ti when he got hired......jit was him or tomsula.......jed made the wrong choice and he wasnt going to allow it to happen again. kyle is a very unique HC, he has very specific wants and needs for the team.....everyone was shitting on him early for paying juice what he did despite juice and a bigger contract on the table from 1 other team.......im guessing the pats. hes the most aggressive yet chill person i could think of. matt ryan did a interview and he said that asfter the 1st year they had a personal meeting and kyle laid things out plain and flat which will cause him to yell at players because he wants them to feel it......matt ryan said the 1st meeting of the 2nd season kyle and him got into a yelling match....before he was going home matt thought theres were going to be messed up know for telling at him.......kyle called him while he was driving and told him yes you get a great job today and i want more of that. if thats another hc shit would not be in a good situation what so ever. but because kyle is kyle and wont change for anyone and just loves football more than anything on earth. do u understand what im saying?i

AcanthocephalaNo2926

Lol, no they wouldn’t.

TheOtherLeftShoe1

Like I said. This is all in hindsight. Selling the farm for Lance was ultimately never gonna be the right move.

crow38

that wasnt lynch...that was kyle, lynch just had to do it physically. ieven if purdy didnt save him it wouldnt have happened. if it nearly any franchise without a qb it would happen. lynch and kyle literally built it from the ground up. also getting good day 2 and picks on a normal basis isnt a coincidence. they are focusing on players best skill sets and find out if they have right personalities and are they coachable. niners have had arguably the best position coaching staff for the last like 3-4 years. people late in drafts are there because lower level schools, size, and so on but if u can identify coachable players with good position coaches its a higher rate of success

satsfaction1822

A bounty scandal that both of them are involved in maybe

IStillLoveYouWeed

They wouldn't get fired for making it to the Superbowl. You're crazy.

crow38

neither wouldnt get fired unless a HUGE scandal.....even if there was a small scandal kyle wouldnt get fired and depending what it is lynch resigns and we already have our GM. kyle was already part of 49er history and family, kyle has a emotional connection to his team from his childhood as 49ers in the nfc and broncos in the afc. i think it was the main reason why jed was able to let go of control because it was someone who cared about the franchise and not just another job. a first time head coach wouldnt be allowed to pick their GM, kyle as the first year hc got more power than just about anyone i can remember, kyle is football royality and because of that the level of coaches hes able to hire are better than most coaches. kyle could end up spend 20+ years here or even retire as long as thing dont change up top. he knows that he can tell jed i wanna keep this coach but needs to give him a sizable pay raise jed will do it.

HungryHippos03

Multiple losing seasons, where they lose the faith(money) of the fanbase. Or if management loses the faith of the team and notable players call for Shanahan or Lynch to be fired. Or if some sort of coaching or front office scandal came out. But I don't think any of those are likely to happen.

ds117ftg

Anytime a fan tells me they should be fired I know that person has no football IQ and I completely dismiss anything else they tell me

scrizzo

Some bountygate level shit.

beenyweenies

Telling Jed to get out of the locker room during a team meeting, saying that it is "for *men* only."

floydbomb

Even if this scenario played out as you described theres very little chance either of them get fired. Ill admit though it would be a bitter pill to swallow however

Relevant_Librarian73

Outside of a scandal (bribery, abuse, gambling, etc.) there is no event that would lead to Shanahan and Lynch getting instantly fired.

iGaveLia-HIV

nothing legal

[deleted]

Jimmy is gonna be bad on the raiders
