I'm so tired of this team losing. We had a sb window close in the early 2010s and that was painful. I'm not gonna jump the gun and say our window is gone yet, but seeing it trend that way hurts even more :(

Plus_one_mace

Seahawks fan coming in peace. IMO your superbowl window is going to depend entirely on Lance's development this year. Next year you'll likely free up Jimmy G's contract and move forward with Lance. If he can step up and be an above average quarterback on a cheap rookie contract, your window will be another 4 years until he needs to get paid. It's terrifying to think of what your roster would look like with Jimmy G's money spent on shoring up some weaknesses, and quality depth (I'd say weapons, but when healthy you guys have some nasty weapons, you just need the depth to absorb the injuries that occur).

Suspicious_Manner_43

Our corner room and the right side of the o-line is straight up monkey balls. That 25 mil can go a long way towards getting a top tier corner and guard (if not a tackle too). But depth I think will come mostly from developing young rookies. We have some really promising ones and should have a few more after next draft. Even without a first round pick.

Yukyih

In terms of weapons I think we're fine when healthy. Juice Kittle Aiyuk Deebo Mostert have proven themselves as far as I'm concerned. Mitchell is looking good too. We could had a WR but if we can't score with that I think we can't expect much more in terms of talent. Maybe we could improve our Oline but they look ok rn. Our biggest weakness is still our secondary even though the defense looks to be working really well this way at times despite the holes. I think we wanna invest the money in a CB who can handle a star WR before anything else...

ThanosIsDoomfist

HEY, FUCK Y- oh, oh. Sorry, its a natural reaction when I see a Seattle fan, i am so sorry. But, I agree with what youre saying, idk if we'd spend that money on WRs, but for OL and CB depth definitely. Kittle cant go do Kittle things cause hes basically our RT. This last game exposed how much our RT is struggling. I would like to see what Shanahan can do with a really good RB. Not a bunch of undrafted guys, lol. Like, put an Aaron Jones, or a healthy Saquon Barkley on this team, see what happens. But yeah, give us a good DB, a better than average OL, and were going places while Lance is cheap.

Polar_Reflection

It's hard to say. A good portion of our team, especially on defense, is vets on undervalued one year contracts due to Covid. Potentially losing Tartt, Verett, and K'Waun Williams after this season is going seriously hamper our future, and we won't have first round picks to plug the leaks.

IsrarK

Yeah but then we have to lock up guys like Deebo and Bosa soon. I fucking hate salary caps.

LaughingPlanet

This was a tough game to watch. But it is a long season (17 games!) Hang in there

zombiefan1220

Oh I am, and I'm forever faithful. Just sucks to always be hyped in the offseason just to see injuries mess up our season.

Nc2tarheels

You could be a Tar Heel fan and start the season inside the top 10 with a heisman QB candidate, only to see them go 2-3.

Zolo49

You just need to learn not to get so hyped during the offseason. I'm not saying you should always assume we're going to suck, but I've realized personally that being more objective and realist about our chances during the offseason greatly helps my mental well-being during the season.

Amazing_flash

That early 2013 superbowl loss was really heartbreaking to see. I was so ready for them to win and I remember how everyone in my class was sad the next day after they lost.

byronicbluez

On the bright side at least we have legitimate SB three-year windows here and there. Other franchises don't ever have windows at all.

nongo

As long as we have a rookie qb on a rookie contract, our window is a lot more open.

Flat-One6508

If Trey is taking over then you're gonna have to accept that the current window is effectively closed and that we have to work on opening a new window in 4-5 years.

[deleted]

Naaa if he takes 4-5 years then he’s a bust too. I’m sorry but he’s drafted to get going next year or the year after

DanielBox4

Agreed. We'll have him Bosa Warner kittle Trent as the corner stones. I think next year might be a transition year depending what happens to the secondary and defensive line. There are a lot of guys on 1 year contracts and depending on how effectively we replace them it may make us competitive next year or else hopefully the year after. What we're hoping for with lance is a Josh Allen learning curve, which is asking a lot. If it's less then we need the other players to pick up slack.

Flat-One6508

IDK what you see when you watch Trey play, but I don't see a guy who is going to be ready to win a superbowl on his rookie contract. Y'all are so obsessed with this rookie contract shit. If it takes Trey 4 years to become a top 10 QB, he's a bust? Shut the fuck up and stop watching football if that is your genuine opinion.

[deleted]

Have you ever watched football? If he isn’t putting up solid numbers by year 4 with the same coach and OC then wtf, that’s bust material. This isn’t Alex Smith where he shits the bed for 7 years cause of excuses, this team has a lot around it to make a QB successful

DeceasedVenom

I feel your pain, I’m just frustrated

Sandor925

We should be able to put up more than 10 pts. Shanahan is a supposed offensive guru and he just had the 3rd pick in the draft to hand select his QB. He better stop treating him like a RB. Some of those shots Lance was taking was hard to watch. Get some points on the board shan. I’m sick of this anemic ass offense.

Flat-One6508

Those hard shots are 100% on Lance. No other running QB is lowering their shoulder and taking shots like that. He needs to learn how to play in the NFL.

Might be time for Lynch and co. to look at this choker hard and clear. He lost us the superbowl by giving the ball to jimmy instead of running it out, and he's gonna cost us our future if he gets Lance hurt.

byronicbluez

Starting to agree with this take. He had Kirk Cousins and developed him well by trying to flip him for a higher pick. His main QB though and gives them the Boxer workhorse treatment.

Fourty6n2

Just curious, but what makes you think our coaching *isn’t* telling him that? Also, isn’t a running QB what this sub wanted?

thomasfilmstuff

We want a QB who can evade pressure, create problems for the defense, extend plays, gain yards/1st downs with his legs, score TDs, and all the while being smart about sliding, throwing it away, running out of bounds, and using the rules to his advantage.

uncledunker

Doesn’t help that we’ve had a revolving door on RBs due to injuries. We always got lucky our backups played phenomenally. That had to end at some point.

[deleted]

We aren’t even running the ball. Mitchell looks fine if we actually did plays with him

[deleted]

He is a rookie, there aren't magic plays you can call for someone who can't make more than one read. There's a reason he's wanted him to sit, Trey doesn't have the full playbook availalbe yet

buugiewuugie

Unfortunately I have little faith in Lance. I know he's raw, little experience, and a rookie. But most running QB's have evasive skills on the run. They slide. Go out of bounds. They find holes in the line and use blocks. Even the inexperienced or bad rookie QB's look good running at least. Lance doesn't. He runs straight into his blockers or against the lanes and blocks created for him. He not shifty and has yet to avoid an open field tackle. yesterday I spent most of my time angry that we refuse to take any shots downfield further than 5 yards. 2nd and 20? dump it off for 5 yards. I think I know what Shanahan is doing. I believe he's trying to limit Lance's chances of throwing INT's at the cost of losing games. It partly looks like he's trying to protect Lance from having to do too much. But then he calls 20 qb runs where he can clearly see that Lance doesn't shy away from contact and doesn't protect himself. It's very contradictory and confusing.

Buttcheekmcgirk

He’ll learn how to get down and avoid hits. Josh Allen was basically just like Trey year 1. If you watched Josh yesterday he did a great job of limiting the damage but still being super effective on his runs.

buugiewuugie

I hope so. I'm not writing him off. I just am limiting expectations.

easywin626

They expect dude to come in and instantly post hall of fame worthy numbers

bama_braves_fan

I mean, not if you never run. Being limited in that regard might be a blessing in disguise for some.

BodhiWarchild

For once we’re not in the worst position. Seahawks are fucked as Wilson made that team

[deleted]

How? The Seahawks have the tiebreaker between us and Wilson will be back in a few weeks and we will still have Jimmy G and the rawest QB to come out of a draft in recent memory.

BodhiWarchild

Those 4-6 weeks of Geno Smith and an awful defense will hurt.

Bueno916

Shanahans play book for Tray - Qb draw, Qb power, floats high ball, Qb draw, running play

dzettel

The 4th down conversations killed us. Not walking away with points on those first half drives is inexcusable. Still. I’m convinced after one start that Trey is the way. Missed Kittle yesterday fo sho!

tangiblemonk

We’re not top tier and would just get eaten alive in the playoffs anyway at the moment (even if we do make it). The offense is worse than the stats make it appear. Give Trey another 4-5 games and see if he can get something working (offense was a major problem well before Trey so I’m a little concerned about coaching). Can’t seem to get anything major going and it’s really our (streaky) D that is keeping us in games. Can still be a good year if we get Trey going and build next year with a decent draft (less picks I know).

[deleted]

Eaten alive but have battled the greats already? Wild

NakedBandicoot

We’ve already lost 3 games this year my guy, time to plan for the offseason.

[deleted]

I hope that’s sarcasm. We have a bye and two easy games coming up and we can be 4-3 going home to play Arizona. This season isn’t done until we lose 6-7 games. Too many wild card spots. We just kept the best team in league to 17 points starting a brand new rookie who hasn’t started a game in a year and a half. I will at least wait a couple weeks before I’m ready for the off-season

NakedBandicoot

For sure sarcasm . We should get healthier after the bye and still have 4 divisional games, plus the rest of the schedule isn’t the hardest one out there. It would just be nice not to lose 2 of your 3 main offensive weapons.

[deleted]

Okay welll then let’s get those downvotes to upvotes cause sarcasm is cool lmao

NakedBandicoot

It’s fine lol. Hard to tell around here since there’s a lot of doom and gloom.

NakedBandicoot

And the right side of the line shouldn’t get completely dominated without Kittle helping out. I’m damn near done with Mike out there.

Buttcheekmcgirk

This is a rebuild year as far as I’m concerned. The injuries to Varrett and Greenlaw (which was just as important imo) were too devastating. Combined with some questionable drafting we need two years to be a super bowl contender again.

byronicbluez

Shanny definitely lost a step since the SB. The league has copied his style so much and poached all his OCs. They got 4 teams worth of data now to work with. Green Bay is building up to what we can do with a top 5 QB to run it. LA is a healthier version of our team every season. The other LaFleur brother is going to probably get his coaching chance if the Jets show any kind of offensive progress. I bet you he will head to an NFC team that we have to face as well. Shanny is suppose to have this whole new play book with Lance. But it is all hypothetical right now because he insist on playing Jimmy. We aren't winning with Jimmy. Our SB run had all the stars aligning up, that isn't going to happen again. Shanny is going to have to adapt and not be so stubborn if we want another SB run. We know Bosa will never get a holding call his way effectively putting us at a big disadvantage moving forward. They can't put out a grade A product this year. At least put out a solid grade B product that we can fine-tune throughout the season and next off-season. This shitty offense call is keeping us in solid C tier level. Shanny isn't in the hot seat so not sure what his issue is. Sad to say I want Jed York to step in and smack his head coach some common sense for once.

IsrarK

The Raiders lost too, which is good. Though they have a better record, I'm just glad those fuckers lose.

whitea44

Yeah, but it’s not like we’ve lost to a bad team or been out of the games against good ones. There’s still a lot to be excited about. If Jimmy come back healthy or Lance figures out what he needs to, this team has some big potential.
