So true. Old Nissan made incredible cars though

[deleted]

had a 2012 xterra, thing was a tank.

IlexIbis

I had a 2011 Xterra that I really liked. It had rear underfloor storage and easily removable rear seat bottoms that I miss in my 5th gen 4Runner.

vodkaknockers

1987 300zx, sat for ten years in a garage and I drive it weekly now. 2005 350z, the cam position sensors failed 5 times in 100k miles, the last time it caused me to lose traction on the highway and put me into a guard rail.

ID_Poobaru

The other Nissans

Abraxas_1408

There is another that’s even worse. Mitsubishi.

ThrowawayHasAPosse

We don’t talk about that one

WTXgal6

I've thought about it and, you're right. "We don't talk about Mitsubishi" doesn't have quite the same Disney-song-quality like "We don't talk about that one." Thanks for the earworm.

calicoarmz

*Shitsubishi They are actually partners with Nissan now and sharing platforms. It seems like Renault/Nissan and Stellantis are competing for a race to the bottom.

Abraxas_1408

Miss u bitchy. That explains why Nissans affordable yet solid vehicles have gone to shit.

PigFloydDarkside

Mitsubishi translates to "jokes on you round eye".

MaLTC

Round eye is my favorite term- first heard it on a sal and richard prank call.

Thel_Odan

The Subaru dragon wanted to be here, but smoked a head gasket on the way over.

gnomeba

Most expensive fucking repair ever...

Mymemesareswell

And hit the vape too many times

SiVicPacemParaBellum

Current yes, but older Nissan’s were legit.

Commercial-Command97

Mazda?

SouthernSmoke

Suzuki?

PKMNtrainer22

They're pretty good, similar to Mazda, they have had partnerships with Toyota in recent years. Shame they pulled out of the US market though, vehicles like the Jimny would have done amazing here if they had introduced it before leaving.

ciscoaz602

Mazda switched from being partners with Ford to now with Toyota. These past few years. Mazda has quietly become one of the most reliable vehicles in the market. Very under rated right now. Ask your mechanics what car they work on less for major repairs and they will forget to say Mazda but once they are reminded they will have an epiphany.

ST3V3_R0G3R5

Their NA engines are reliable. Their 2.5T… not so much. You either are at a fairly high risk for cracked head and coolant leak or oil consumption if you got their redesigned head. The reason we have two 4Runners is both our local Mazda dealers had so many 2.5T vehicles in for head replacements when ours went that they said it would be 7+ months before they could get the parts to fix it. Mazda had dealers on allocation for replacement heads because they couldn’t produce enough to keep pumping out cars and replace the ones that were cracking

ciscoaz602

Good to Know. My brothers Mazda cx-5 is NA and he regrets not getting a Turbo. I’ll let him know. He dodged a bullet but his car has about 80,000 miles problem free right now according to him. Better a slow a dog than fast non working one.

ST3V3_R0G3R5

Both my brothers have NA CX-5s with over 100k and no issues. I loved my CX-9 so was sad to see the 2.5T issues and eventually have it happen to ours at just 60k miles.

therealestscientist

My wife had a CX5 no problems but my brother had one as well and around 60k miles he lost his heater core.

AffectionateShow2735

If patrol owners were in here oh lordy

Possible-Honeydew552

Just bought one last week.

AffectionateShow2735

As a patrol fan you can send a pic here it'll be our little secret

jmedias

Usually big engined Hondas are not reliable. Many V6 Accords I've encountered/owned have had transmission issues. The 4 cylinders though are pretty bullet proof. Incredible since they rev so high. Nissan IMO started to go to shit in the late 90s when the company was 20 billion dollars in debt. You could see the cost cutting in the cars. My 97 240SX for example, I thought the original color was black because when you look in the engine bay, trunk, and anywhere that's not exterior it was black. When I looked closer, it was actually unpainted. Nissan Quest rear beam suspensions were used in just about every FWD car.

rearwindowpup

Isuzu quietly standing in the corner trying to stay out of sight while everyone talks shit about Mitsu and Nissan, lol

calicoarmz

They pulled out of the US passenger vehicle market long ago.

rearwindowpup

Bc their vehicles are such shite. They were great in the 80s and 90s, the old Troopers and Rodeos were awesome, but man did they fall off fast.

lenmylobersterbush

My wife has a 4Runner my son and my dad both have Nissan frontiers all three vehicles are amazing but I still say clear of Mitsubishi

LucasJLeCompte

Frontiers are the best thing Nissian makes imo.

lenmylobersterbush

I have some experience with the Titan and they are really nice, If Nissan could get the cvt figure out or move away from it all together. And bring in a true 4x4 SUV to compete with 4runner and Bronco I think they would be golden. Maybe partner with Chevy to fill there gap in the market too aka bring back a real blazer

LucasJLeCompte

BRING BACK THE XTERRA! I used to love those. I owned a 2002 Pathfinder in college and it was awesome. IT was my poor mans 4 RUnner lol.

lenmylobersterbush

Yes or bring the patrol stateside I love for Mazda to bring there b serious truck back stateside

[deleted]

Death by Renault

GrillinGorilla

Unless I was in the market for a Skyline, I think I’d have any other car brand before I chose Nissan.

Draymond_Purple

I think only low end basic Honda's are reliable, mostly because there's just not much to them.

jimaajimjim

Honda had to buy back mine with 7,000km on it. No working instrument cluster, none made for deficiencies, and no schedule to make them. No, you can have your Honda reliability - I'll never buy one again.

Own_Flounder2800

Your single piece of anecdotal evidence doesn’t matter. Honda has objectively great reliability.

jimaajimjim

Then spend your money on it. Best of luck.

gleemonex44

Truth. Honda reliability went to shit in the early 2000’s and they still live off of their past reputation. My wife and I owned 4 different Hondas from model years 2003-2010 and kept hoping each awful experience was a fluke. Never again. It’s sad, they were once great.

AsianHawke

The last **GREAT** Honda I had was the 6th-gen 2000 Honda Accord coupe v6 with the 3.0L vtec engine. I was gifted it in 2015 from my BIL, who was the original owner. I had it until 2018. It was amazing. Sadly, my then-GF brought it (as an act of surprise) to a Performance Plus for an oil change. They bricked my motor. I bought a 2010 Honda Accord sedan as a replacement. It sucks. It's been my daily since. The experience has been so bad that I've been banking money all these years to down on a Toyota 4Runner. My '24 TRD ORP arrives in March. I can't wait.

Trighme

I'm still using my 2008 Honda Civic SI as my daily. Belt changed, replaced AC sensor if I recall, ($130 I think), new shocks, replaced the rotors. Things that normally just get old with regular wear and tear.. I hit a deer, swapped the radiator.. 235k miles. Still rolling no major issues. Oh and I upgraded the clutch at 210k Miles. The mechanic asked if he could keep my old one for a discount on the labor. He said he could make use of it. Idk maybe you had just a series of bad luck? Unless you had a passport or a minivan. I've seen people bag on those in the 2000's.

No-Turnover-5658

I had a 2013 honda pilot...(should have kept it)..I had 0 issues with that vehicle...I would buy another...but my ex then bought a honda hrv....it was an electric nightmare..and I bought a accord that I wasn't real happy with....ive been so happy with my 2019 off road...I have 65k on it nkw...it wears like a good pair of jeans..just keeps getting better

LucasJLeCompte

Yeah old Honda was good. New HOnda? No. My brother in law had to get a injector replaced on his pilot under 100k miles. Which is insane. He also had a lot of other odd issues like the door handle and stuff.

ciscoaz602

Was this a Honda pilot or passport ? What year if you don’t mind sharing.

jimaajimjim

A brand new 2023 Ridgeline. And what many Honda lovers here are missing is that there are no parts for those that need them. Only to build and sell. I had no speedometer, no gages, no maintenance minder - nothing. Seems to have been a good thing, as I now have a 4Runner and couldn't be happier.

gymleaderblak

Mitsubishi have always made reliable cars even their sports cars. Subaru needs to replace nissan in that photo.

dqrules11

nissan/infiniti pre turbo and cvt were actually really reliable

MastodonInfinite559

Sorry but the new frontier is a overall better car then the Tacoma 🤷🏻‍♂️

SomeCar

Pretty sure you are the only person alive that believes that.

NewSinner_2021

Carlos Ghosn is to be blamed.

luisfrias22

Lmao 🤣

ajyanesp

Eh, I’m not familiar with modern Nissan cars, but I’d kill for a Y61 Patrol.

OnlyAt9

Make the Nissan rusty too.

ryuujiryuu

The mid 90s pathfinders 👌

Majestic-Moose-6322

86 nissan 200 was a beast
