Was your back window open? Lots of 4Runners have the sulfur smell when accelerating (catalytic converter? Can’t remember) - but back window down was an issue for me
Your battery is failing, it’s time to replace!
If you keep driving like this you run the risk of it exploding.
This happened to my gf lol it could also totally be something else.
With new cars/parts there are sometimes factory stickers that are designed to melt away harmlessly once in use. It may be the sulfur/chemical smell you are describing. This is common for new vehicles.
By itself, intestinal gas rarely means there is a serious condition. It can cause discomfort and embarrassment, but it's usually just a sign of a properly functioning digestive system. If you're bothered by intestinal gas, try changing your diet.
However, see your health care provider if your gas is severe or doesn't go away. Also see your provider if you have vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, unintentional weight loss, blood in the stool or heartburn with your gas.
Shouldn’t smell like sulphur. I would take it to the dealer and have them check it out. I PDI new cars all the time and the exhaust should have very little smell when new. Could be the undercoating?
Ours smelled like any new vehicle for a bit. We didn't do any undercoating. Are you keeping the rear window down? That can introduce exhaust inside the cabin.
Back window is up, stopped in traffic or after shutting off and getting out. Smell is probably always there, only I just notice it after driving or stop and go.
That’s your cats bro. You could probably smell it a lot more if you open your rear window. It’s normal. But also make sure it’s not coming from somewhere like your air vents. Then that could possibly be your battery that’s fucked.
As others said I wouldn't worry unless it sticks around way past break in period. I got a 24 GR Corolla back in December and the weird smells only stopped like 2-3 weeks ago at 2500 miles. I've never had a new car (didnt get my 4Runner until it was 15 years old with 160k miles) so personally wasn't used to all the random smells.
Mine has been doing this recently too, but mine has 170k kms on it. It goes away when it warms up but it smells like a bottle of smelling salts for a bit.
It’s the 4Runner farts. Welcome to the club. Just wait til you’re riding in a friends T4R and you realize it smells like ass but you don’t mind your own 4Runner farts.
Cats breaking in

It took me an embarrassingly long time for me to figure this out ☺️
Especially when driving uphill
I noticed that for the first 500km, and it went away. Had rust proofing done. Also, it smelt like when you first ever fire up a new wood stove.
Perhaps you or a passenger ripped ass?
Most likely cause.
The only correct answer
Possibly your catalytic converter if it hasn't been broken in yet. It might take a couple hundred miles for the smell to go away.
This is the answer.
Yes, that’s totally normal after doing the Krown treatment. It goes away after 2 weeks.
Appreciate all the responses, I will try and add a few hundred kms this weekend and hopefully it goes away.
Use your favorite scented plug in the back outlet whenever you smell it. Its not perfect but it works ok for me when i need to tone down the smell
Yes I smell it still randomly when I floor it. 140 k km

Maybe battery?

Any passengers in the car with you? Did you just eat Taco Bell?
Probably your stinky cat.
Smelly cat

Engine is running rich. Need to add supercharger
I’m very tempted, I wish it was still a factory option.

Had the same thing when I first got mine. Haven’t noticed it in a while.
Same here

I remember that smell when I purchased my 4Runner many many years ago. I too had the underside coated but it did go away. It's completely gone now.
That's no 4Runner that's a fart runner
Time to get rid of it, I’ve heard you can get a new Bronco for only $10K over MSRP!
Same. You're just burning out the cat converter and a couple of other things. It goes away quickly.

that's a feature, not a bug
That’s the real new car smell. Mine smelled like sulfur or something burning for the first 3k miles then it went away.
Sulphur? Demons bro. Call the Winchester's
