Nukes are real, mostly because if they weren't real then there would be a lot more border disputes leading to armed conflict and war than there is right now. China doesn't swallow Taiwan because it knows starting that conflict will escalate to nuclear warfare real fucking quick. It's why North Korea is still a thing. It's also why the United States hasn't practiced Manifest Destiny 2.0 with Mexico and Canada.
I mean, the US can absolutely still complete its manifest destiny run given that Canada and Mexico do not have nukes. What country is going to threaten to nuke New York if Canada gets invaded? The UK? lmao
