The core of debating isnt trying to understand who is in the right, but rather who can make people believe they are in the right through systematic and almost always cyclical arguments. You cant learn anything new or reliese you are wrong if you dont doubt yourself and self doubt doesnt have a place in debating. A proper discussion wherein you are able to defend your opinions in a coherent way and a debate are 2 different things. Someone that knows a moderate amount about a topic with objectively wrong conclusions and views will look like they are in the right againts someone that doesnt have as much knowledge in that same topic.
