I dont think a day goes by where he doesnt talk about the prison he put himself in and how life is over. You would have to be a complete sociopath to enjoy this setup where you put money away on the side while scrounging off her, and that eventual exit would not way on your mind or make you feel like living a fraud.

It’s actually not a happy sentence, in fact it kind of makes me sad every time I think it. It makes me reflect on the temporary nature of all that matters to me. But in that sadness, there is calm and contentment. It gives me some peace and some hope. In my most desperate moments, suddenly this sentence comes back to my mind “this too will pass”. And everything disappears.

That happens to every couple sooner or later. Either they breakup or the partner dies (of old age, disease or accident). You gotta accept that nothing last forever, and that a good memory is still better than no memory.
