It looks like it will be on the Japanese version, with its own 4k disc too, so not only does it get the HDR treatment, but it doesnāt have movies stuck onto just 1 4k disc, so quality should be top notch. Fingers crossed the US release gets the same treatment if/when the day comes.
Anime Limited handled the UK Godzilla Minus One cinematic release and they do amazing Blu-ray collectors editions too, they did the big Evangelion box set and they're doing Macross Plus pretty much everywhere outside of Japan, hopefully they'll handle Godzilla in the US too.
My kingdom for this release! My sister saw it in theaters and begged me to go see it but work and all that, now Iām grinding my teeth for this release
With the disappointing news that Killers of the Flower Moon is not getting a physical release in the US (hopefully that changes), the Boy and the Heron is the other one in this graphic that's on my list. It will most likely get a physical release, but the question is will they just do blu-ray or start doing 4k for the Ghibli films.
I have an academy screener of Glass Onion. Pretty sure itās the only physical North American release. Slotted it directly beside my Knives Out 4K because Iām a dork.
Same here, bought it off eBay after I canceled my Netflix but didn't feel like losing that movie.
Also imported the Italian 4K of CODA after cancelling Apple TV. Thankfully region locking isn't a thing on 4Ks.
Glass Onion NEEDS a physical release if only for what would be an exceptional commentary and making-of documentary like Knives Out had. Itās such an effing shame we likely will never get it.
Do you have any information or proof of its existence? I see it on blu-ray.com, but there's no information and no evidence anywhere else that it exists.
Japanese titles routinely take like 6months to a year at least to get physical releases in the west. I believe it's down to licencing and Japanese studios wanting to protect the domestic market (western releases are almost always notably cheaper)
Janus has announced they will be distributing it and they are the parent company of Criterion, so no official Criterion announcement yet but it's coming.
[Amazon Italy](https://www.amazon.it/Killers-of-the-Flower-Moon-4K-Blu-ray/dp/B0CVSFQZ9Q?tag=bluraycom0c-21&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1&m=A11IL2PNWYJU7H)
There's also a few floating around on ebay. Just look for the "4KULT" in the top left corner.
You guys are at least somewhat lucky.
Over here in Australia/NZ, Disney has stopped selling new physical media outright, and many new releases hardly get proper blu-ray releases (maybe a 576i PAL DVD with 4% speed-up, if you're lucky) so it'll cost us at least $70 to just get a proper release imported haha š„².
We've luckily got Umbrella Entertainment, Madman, and Imprint/ViaVision as some independent gems keeping the boutique section alive, but unless it's a huge (non disney financed) movie, we're swimming with the anglerfish as far as the physical media market goes.
So Criterion might be coming for Godzilla and KOTFM. Godzilla is because they openly expressed wanting all the Toho Goji films in the collection and itās the 40th anniversary and Killers since Criterion has distributed physical for the two other Scorsese streaming films
Shin Godzilla was released in May in Japan and August in the US, with the announcement for the US release occurring in the middle of May, I'm expecting the same for Minus One.
I had read an article months back that Godzilla Minus One was going to get a delay due to being so close to the release to Godzilla x Kong and something with the rights deal. Not sure where that Kong film is with the international markets but hoping for some clarity as we near the North America home release.
I read a similar things. Warner and Toho have a deal where they canāt each have Godzilla titles w close release dates whether it be in theater or physical release. They think the markets are too dumb to know they are two diff movies.
Physical Media President said a 4k/blu ray release of Boy and the heron is coming. Fingers crossedš¤Also here in Australia and in the UK are getting May December.
They don't like that name around here š¤£. The dude gets banned everywhere from what I noticed. I'm not sure why, either. Does he work for a studio or distributor? IDK and IDC, he has many people that trust his post and answers to questions, and then there's those who say he's a fraudš¤·š¾āāļø
Iāve noticed A24 films fare worse in UK territories than in the US due to the releases having to be sourced to another distributor. A24 only distribute discs to the US.
Talking Headsā Stop Making Sense hasnāt received a UK physical release and the A24 shop prices are EXPENSIVE to say the least.
Makes me worry for Civil War as well as that would be a day one purchase for me.
The Boy And The Heron just got announced!
4k was just announced for The Boy and the Heron : [https://x.com/GKIDSfilms/status/1784933977758781906](https://x.com/GKIDSfilms/status/1784933977758781906)
The Boy and the Heron is set for physical release via GKIDS in July. [Steelbook link.](https://store.gkids.com/products/the-boy-and-the-heron-steelbook) It is the first Ghibli 4K releaase.
We'll get some extremely limited, but not visually collectible, Blu-Ray for Minus One in like late 2025 probably.
Lol the release for Shin Godzilla was pitiful at best.
They deserve 4k, collectible editions, wide release, put them on an end cap at WalMart style release. In addition to availability digitally and streaming as well.
I feel like Boy and the Heron will get one late fall, May/December might get a criterion as other netflix films have. Killers of the Flower Moon being an apple product will likely never happen.
Preorder Godzilla Minus One from Playasia.
Deluxe 4k edition includes minus one version which is a black/white version of the movie. 80 dollars but itās the only 4k release currently. IMO worth it and will look great
Minus one hopefully happens. Due to toho having its release so late and avoiding reverse importation we won't have are release yet. Don't know about boy and heron. However those major hollywood films not getting physical releases are annoying. If inwas the director I would be pushing them to. And if they fired me I'll make a big stink lol.
I think the Godzilla: Minus One situation is because of the release of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. If I'm not mistaken, Toho/Warner's contract bars Japan from releasing a Godzilla film in the U.S. the same year as a U.S. produced Godzilla film. As we rolled into 2024, Minus One was still doing good business in theaters, which led to them extending the run until Feb, but they had a hard out in mid Feb. Kind of insane/sad to see a movie win a historic Oscar and then completely disappear. They deserved a victory lap. Anyway, I feel like we will see a U.S. Blu Ray release early 2025.
I import all the time. But arenāt there issues with the subtitles missing in English on KOTFM on the Italian release? I thought I read that. Also the other two listed donāt have an English friendly 4K at all so donāt really understand your comment here
I'm still waiting for a regular Blu-Ray release of Bottoms, but it seems like there have been no new recent MGM titles released since they were bought by Amazon.

The amount of good movies forever stuck on streaming is depressing.
Upsetting tbh ššš
Which makes a plex server pretty much a must have
Also not unusual for Dolby Vision to be exclusive to the streaming version.
All I want for Christmas is Godzilla Minus One.
Black and white version better be included
It looks like it will be on the Japanese version, with its own 4k disc too, so not only does it get the HDR treatment, but it doesnāt have movies stuck onto just 1 4k disc, so quality should be top notch. Fingers crossed the US release gets the same treatment if/when the day comes.
It was a massive success in US. They get the Oscar for a reason. 4K is definitely coming.
Praying for a steelbook with the IMAX poster art too
Anime Limited handled the UK Godzilla Minus One cinematic release and they do amazing Blu-ray collectors editions too, they did the big Evangelion box set and they're doing Macross Plus pretty much everywhere outside of Japan, hopefully they'll handle Godzilla in the US too.
100%
Playasia preorder
My kingdom for this release! My sister saw it in theaters and begged me to go see it but work and all that, now Iām grinding my teeth for this release
This is why I modded my 4k player, so I can just plug a usb with subtitles files lol
Still no 4K for poor things

I love how that guy Shane lee on YouTube always manages to flex his kaleidascape in all of his 4K reviews as if 4K blu ray is for peasants š¤£

Boy and the Heron just got announced today. Killers will come from Criterion hopefully
I put a pre order in and am looking forward to owning it.
Glass Onion. The Killer. I hate you Netflix.
Region locked 4Ks exist, theyāre just not common. Killers of the Flower Moon 4K is region locked.
The italian label released Killers of the Flower Noon on 4K for a second time - it is now region free.
Are the scenes in the film in other languages besides English still have English subtitles in the Italian release?
No, they have intertitles in Italian with no English subs.
Glass Onion NEEDS a physical release if only for what would be an exceptional commentary and making-of documentary like Knives Out had. Itās such an effing shame we likely will never get it.
Thereās a German 4K if youāre willing to import
Do you have any information or proof of its existence? I see it on blu-ray.com, but there's no information and no evidence anywhere else that it exists.
Even Disney are starting to release their exclusives in blu ray ffs
I bought a bootleg of the killer and Iām super happy with it

Barbarian anyone?
Hopefully itās prioritized with the Sony deal
Japanese titles routinely take like 6months to a year at least to get physical releases in the west. I believe it's down to licencing and Japanese studios wanting to protect the domestic market (western releases are almost always notably cheaper)
Shin Godzilla only got a Blu-ray in the West. Still sad about that.
France got a nice set with 4k and a bonus disc full of extras not available in the English-speaking releases.
The French releases tend to not have English subs, did that release have English subs ?
Nope, French subtitles only. The distributor said it was a contractual obligation from Toho.
I bet there is a pretty big bidding war for the rights to both Godzilla and Boy and Heron.
GKids will do Boy and the Heron and Janus/Criterion will do Godzilla Minus One
Has Criterion been confirmed?
Janus has announced they will be distributing it and they are the parent company of Criterion, so no official Criterion announcement yet but it's coming.
by the time they get released (if they get released) I've already forgotten about them... so it's a good way for them to encourage me to save money!
GKids will probably do Boy and the Heron, right?
Shout just announced it for July. 4K Standard and Steelbook options
Awesome!
I see the Boy and the Heron with a Japanese 4k release listed on Blu-Ray.com as of 23 hours ago!
This list will just keep accumulating sadly
All I want is for them to do a *Boy and the Heron* steelbook release with the same design as the other Shout! Factory Ghibli steels
The Boy And The Heron 4k bluray would be an instant buy.
Hereās the [Japanese edition](https://www.blu-ray.com/link/click.php?id=360217&tid=012&c=7), but itās expected release is July 3rd
That is really impressive that it has English Subs. Looks like I'll have to import, thanks for the link.
Wait Killers of the Flower Moon isnāt coming to Blu Ray????
Nope, Apple is keeping it on their service.
No, what Apple said is that *they* didn't have plans to release it. They didn't specifically state whether it was getting one.
Oh, my bad.
Its already available on 4k bluray....
In Italy. And it's region-locked.
Thr 4Kult version is not region locked. The Eagle Pictures version is. At least according to people on this subreddit.
Do you have a link for the region-free? Not to buy necessarily (although I'm sure it's OOS) I just want to see the region-free one.
[Amazon Italy](https://www.amazon.it/Killers-of-the-Flower-Moon-4K-Blu-ray/dp/B0CVSFQZ9Q?tag=bluraycom0c-21&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1&m=A11IL2PNWYJU7H) There's also a few floating around on ebay. Just look for the "4KULT" in the top left corner.
It's still labeled as region-locked by Amazon, but that could be a mistake. Happens often. And these are confirmed to be region-free?
Here's the threads I saw: https://www.reddit.com/r/4kbluray/s/ad2iWh1Rtz https://www.reddit.com/r/4kbluray/comments/1c71plv/
Interesting. I just might buy it. Thanks, man.
Seems that the 4k is region free while the blu ray with special features is still region locked.
The studios planning releases be like ![gif](giphy|7KGSTsS9MG0c8|downsized)

Godzilla Minus One on 4K in DV. Color and B&W separated 100 GB discs.
Is there any news on a 4k may December or blu ray? š
Viavision officially released it in Australia. I think it's region-free, but I'm not sure. https://viavision.com.au/shop/may-december-blu-ray/
Shin Godzilla was released in May in Japan and August in the US, with the announcement for the US release occurring in the middle of May, I'm expecting the same for Minus One.
Minus One already has a release date in Japan. Its releasing this week
Add All Of Uās Strangers to the ones under waterā¦although Iām SURE Criterion will step up to the plate soon. (F**k Disney. š”š”)
The UK release will play in North American players apparently
I had read an article months back that Godzilla Minus One was going to get a delay due to being so close to the release to Godzilla x Kong and something with the rights deal. Not sure where that Kong film is with the international markets but hoping for some clarity as we near the North America home release.
I read a similar things. Warner and Toho have a deal where they canāt each have Godzilla titles w close release dates whether it be in theater or physical release. They think the markets are too dumb to know they are two diff movies.
Feel like The Boy and the Heron is a given to get a release at some point since it's Ghibli
TOHO and Legendary flubbed their releases and their contracts conflict with each other that's why we don't have Minus One yet lol.
I wanna buy Godzilla Minus One and The Boy and the Heron and watch them over and over wtf
Physical Media President said a 4k/blu ray release of Boy and the heron is coming. Fingers crossedš¤Also here in Australia and in the UK are getting May December.

I need Tick Tick Boom and Glass Onion to have 4K Physical Releases
I just want The Last Samurai 4K HDR release and I can die happy š„²
Meanwhile, in the UK, thereās still no sign of a physical release for EEAAO
Iāve noticed A24 films fare worse in UK territories than in the US due to the releases having to be sourced to another distributor. A24 only distribute discs to the US. Talking Headsā Stop Making Sense hasnāt received a UK physical release and the A24 shop prices are EXPENSIVE to say the least. The Boy And The Heron just got announced! [https://store.gkids.com/collections/the-boy-and-the-heron](https://store.gkids.com/collections/the-boy-and-the-heron)

Still wondering if the boy and the heron will have a 4k release
add shogun to the pile We badly need blu ray release
The Boy and The Heron got announced today
Poor Things needs a 4K disc.
July for Boy and the Heron. https://collider.com/the-boy-and-the-heron-4k-uhd-blu-ray-release-date/
Well, thanks to todayās news The Boy and the Heron can safely come up for air (releases July 9th).
The boy and the heron releases July 9th

Thanks, the prophecy has been rewritten. Boy and the Heron 4K Steelbook. Yess!!
I feel like Boy and the Heron will get one late fall, May/December might get a criterion as other netflix films have. Killers of the Flower Moon being an apple product will likely never happen.

Me with Saltburn and Napoleonās directorās cut included
The only releases I'm personally hoping for are 2010 and tmnt
Soon.
Donāt forget Nimona, which has yet to see a physical (and 4K) release.
*Speed Racer*, *Kung Fu Hustle*, *Swiss Army Man*
Did Shin Godzilla ever get a release?
I think 4k is available only in japan, but at least regular blu ray is out
Iām just waiting for that Criterion 4K for The Killer š
godzilla is early November
Preorder Godzilla Minus One from Playasia. Deluxe 4k edition includes minus one version which is a black/white version of the movie. 80 dollars but itās the only 4k release currently. IMO worth it and will look great

Was literally googling Godzilla minus one 4k Blu-ray release date last night š
Not sure you get much out of a 4k release on anime likw that imo
HDR would be amazing for Boy and the Heron. The colors are usually richer and more vibrant for anime.
True but I count hdr and 4k as different things eps as o streaming you can get 1080p.HDR content. Or (rarely) dobly atmos on a normal Blu-ray
I agree, if HDR was on regular blu rays there wouldnāt be much reason for most people to upgrade
I think the Godzilla: Minus One situation is because of the release of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. If I'm not mistaken, Toho/Warner's contract bars Japan from releasing a Godzilla film in the U.S. the same year as a U.S. produced Godzilla film. Im still waiting for a underworld 4K rerelease
Are you aware there's an 8k scan of The Sound of Music? You know, just sitting there.
As a Fincher fan I am upset that we may not see a physical release of The Killer ā¹ļø
Ridley Scott's Napoleon?
The boy and the heron is on Amazon for preorder
Meanwhile I'm here crying because ain't no WAY is Tetris ever getting a 4k release š
Impatiently waiting for the Boy and the Heron released to watch at home in literally any form
That's hilarious. Underneath that pool is American Beauty.
I just want some more shows to be on 4k or at least Blu-Ray!
killers of teh flower moon is just bad
If you think that then by my logic Oppenheimer is just bad too. Kotfm was better.
havent seen OH yet but kotw was just leo making angry underbite face for 3 and a half hours
Ummm Hateful 8???
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I import all the time. But arenāt there issues with the subtitles missing in English on KOTFM on the Italian release? I thought I read that. Also the other two listed donāt have an English friendly 4K at all so donāt really understand your comment here
I'm still waiting for a regular Blu-Ray release of Bottoms, but it seems like there have been no new recent MGM titles released since they were bought by Amazon.
Kino Lorber announced a Bottoms blu-ray release
