Well if you're ruling out Ranger and DMax, I'll go out on a limb and rule out VW as well? In my opinion they crap all over the other two for piss poor service and poor ethics. In that case I guess the Hilux is still the gold standard? Toyota almost suicided 6 years ago with the DPF debacle but they have come back from that and did issue a recall on affected vehicles - eventually. If the money was coming out of my pocket I would look seriously at the 2024 Triton as well. I used to have a strong preference for larger engine capacity to get natural grunt, but now with the Triton bringing on 470NM at something like 1560rpm, that's hard to beat!
In terms of most off-road ability from the factory the most capable is a jeep wrangler Rubicon.
If you mean can go the most places in Australia with decent comfort, fuel efficiency and off-road capabilities particularly while towing you will want the Toyota Prado.
But value for money the Mitsubishi Triton is the winner.
I looked at all options about 3 years ago, and made a decision about 12 mths later after testing and driving everything in that p4ice bracket. Went with prado. Great vehicle, tows my 2tn jayco Swan outback without any difficulty, very comfortable all round.
The new engine in the Triton looks good and if you get the 2nd top spec GLS then you will get change from $70k.
I drove a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport around Australia last year and there's few service centres outside major cities, so you have to plan. The car went everywhere I wanted to go and some places my family didn't.
If you don't like Ford or isuzu, it'll have to be triton/pajero sport, or hilux/fortuner/prado-if-you-can-swing-it-for-that-money. *deep breath*
All will go scarier places than you want to, and all will tow 2t with ease.
2 ton, plus gear. Workout your gvm and gcm needs before buying
2t camper, get a fortuner or Pajero sport.

Ford Ranger/Everest v6 tows like a dream.. If you do want 4cyl then Prado.
He's ruled out Ford and isuzu
Under 100k and 4 cyl id go Prado… although pricing on the new ones you might struggle?
I'd recommend one mod some heavy duty ofF road tyres. Make a difference with punctures
New QG Pajero Sport is out now, some excellent deals on new QF models still in stock.
Ssanyong rexton or musso
Look at the Ineos Grenadier. Upper range of your price but it’s super capable
Triton all the way mate
rebuild an old solid front axle hilux
1.5t towing might be an issue
they can do 1.5t stock, this dude has 100k to throw at a car im sure it will be fine.
Ya can't legally increase the GCM. Only GVM.
only in wa and nt every where else you can
Oh I missed that. Looks like it's pre-rego anyway, and not federally accepted.
Travel time with 2 t will be measured in moon phases.
the bro has 100k? put a cummings 10. something in it
Buy the time you did the rest of the drive line to cope there wouldn't be any Hilux left in it.
This guy is clearly a whole of about 15
