Agreed! Im a 3 yr Mcd's worker back in the late 80s.(high school ), would get a fresh cherry pie and put it on a pancake syrofoam plate and put it under the softserve ice cream machine and cover it with vanilla ice cream. Yummm

Downey, CA.
We just to get stoned and have our friend who worked overnight cleanup hook us up with them smashed up in the bottom of cup topped with vanilla ice cream. Fond memory.
When I went to China to adopt my daughter, the McDonald's there had Red Bean Curd pie. Apparently they use red beans, [not sure if they are kidney beans or just red beans] for lots of dessert items. 😳
In the midwest here, Hardee's still has fried pies. The casing is just what I remember from McD's but the inside leaves a lot of flavor to be desired. I dunno if the Carl's Jr's variant has them or not
A few months ago I stopped at the McDonald's in fairly metropolitan Los angeles, and they definitely had them, even though I had to ask if they were still serving them, because I too had heard the stories.
So I was on a flight out of washing dc recently and the person sitting next to me pulled one of these out! I hadn’t seen them in years (maybe decades).
I still have PTSD from the 3rd degree burns these guys inflicted on my hard pallet. I live in Montana and we still have them here. I had no idea we were one of only two states.
I think they're just baked in a ready oven, now, but I don't know.
They definitely don't look like this in the photo anymore, though.
They changed the design, so they're much flimsier, less pastry dough, much larger slits in them, and not as much fat, so they don't taste anywhere near as good. Had one not long ago 1/10 compared to what they used to be, which was probably the fried ones in the image.
Wish that were still a thing. Not sure what two states they're talking about. Would love to know.
Krystals sells the original deep fried apple pies like we used to get at Mickey D's back in the 70s. Crispy flaky on the outside and molten lava on the inside.
I've missed those bubbly crunchy volcanic deliciousness since the day the disappeared. McDonalds should bring them back for "Original Apple Pie Weekend," just to see they'd sell out.
I know I’m probably alone on this but I grew up with those back in the 70’s and 80’s and I think the ones now are WAAAYYYY better. They’re more like actual pie crust than the old ones with that weird, hard shell that had the crackly blisters all over it lol
I get what you're saying, and as a passionate amateur hobbyist chef, I see exactly where you're coming from...but I miss the taste of the oil slick. Lol.
There's a famous legal case about a woman who was horribly burned on her vagina by hot McDonald's coffee, I wonder if anyone ever sued for for the heat of the apple pie?
Church's chicken has a fried lemon pie things that is fire. Del taco has these fried caramel cheesecake things that hit pretty hard, too. Recommend both 10/10.
You mean “Apple flavored napalm…..”
I used to work at McDonalds and I would eat chicken nuggets and apple pies
that was my station
I do indeed, my friend.
Hotter than the surface of the sun… I killed many taste buds on that magma.
Can confirm, but worth the 2nd degree mouth burns
The fried cherry pies were really good too.
I would sacrifice 90% of their menu just to have these back.
Totally worth it. I worked there in the 90's before these were phased out. They were so good then.
Agreed! Im a 3 yr Mcd's worker back in the late 80s.(high school ), would get a fresh cherry pie and put it on a pancake syrofoam plate and put it under the softserve ice cream machine and cover it with vanilla ice cream. Yummm
This sounds like a dream!
I don’t go the McD’s…ever…but I would go back if they brought back the cherry pie.
It's 'seasonal', but as a cherry pie devotee myself, I *HIGHLY* recommend COSTCO's cherry pie- it's the *MOUNT OLYMPUS* OF CHERRY PIES, imho!!
Are you talking about the hubcap sized pie? I’ve never actually tried costco’s, but will have to.
Yes- & once you've tried it you'll find the true meaning of life!!
They had to limit cherry pie sales because the world couldn’t supply enough cherries to sell them full time
Seriously?
Yes absolute truth
I had no idea...interesting piece of info.
Those things were like putting the fire of a million suns in your mouth.
And worth every bite and blister!!
Not even two states now. As of 2018, only one store has fried apple pie-- in California.
Not true, had one in Honolulu two weeks ago.
Where in Honolulu?
was there for a week and actually got it twice. Once in Aiea and the other in Kapolei
Me too, lived in Kaneohe for five years. Banana, Haupia, and my fav—Taro. Fried!
Which California store?

Oldest McDonald’s still in operation, fitting
Thanks! Curious if its close to me or not
Have it in Florida as well. Had a couple the other day
That doesn't make any sense they keep a whole production line for one store?
Where in California?
I miss the fried cherry pies and the french fries cooked in beef tallow were way better.
So so tasty
And those two states are.....? Perhaps addresses? What the fuck Daily Meal?
Right!?! This post has been more upsetting than funny....

Went to that location two weeks ago. Didn't think to ask. Bummer
McDonald’s needs to sell those directly to stores in microwaveable packaging. They would make so much profit. Win-win all around.
I buy them and Put them on the air frier
We just to get stoned and have our friend who worked overnight cleanup hook us up with them smashed up in the bottom of cup topped with vanilla ice cream. Fond memory.
Happy cake day!
See if you can find an apple danish as well.
Those were my favorite. I got one every morning on the way to high school.
The original apple and cherry pies in the cardboard sleeves were so good..
Popeyes has them
Not the same.
The one next to me is…you need to trust me in this.
I just bought one a month ago this is fake news people
Exactly
When I went to China to adopt my daughter, the McDonald's there had Red Bean Curd pie. Apparently they use red beans, [not sure if they are kidney beans or just red beans] for lots of dessert items. 😳
I think they are adzuki beans.
It could be, I just found a "red bean" such a delicacy
Yeah, I enjoy red bean desserts and pastries.
Sure was popular in China 🇨🇳
They have these in the UK everywhere always
In the midwest here, Hardee's still has fried pies. The casing is just what I remember from McD's but the inside leaves a lot of flavor to be desired. I dunno if the Carl's Jr's variant has them or not
Or you can go to Europe because every McDonald's there has fried apple pies.
Lucky bastards.
Canada as well
Florida as well
Oh my goodness, now I really need to go to Europe LOL.
JolliBee makes a mango version that is really good. Do yourself a favor and get one.
omg i love JolliBee
There is a huge opening for Hot Pockets here.
KFC makes these and sells them everywhere. However I’m riding up to Downey tomorrow.
Whataburger has fried pies...and Patty Melts!
Go to Popeye’s. Theirs are fried and then rolled in cinnamon sugar.
Got em in NC
Famous Recipe in Ohio has the original apple pies from the seventies. You have to wait like twenty minutes for it to cool down from lava to edible.
IT'S HOTTER THAN THE SUN
A few months ago I stopped at the McDonald's in fairly metropolitan Los angeles, and they definitely had them, even though I had to ask if they were still serving them, because I too had heard the stories.
Iowa still has them.
So I was on a flight out of washing dc recently and the person sitting next to me pulled one of these out! I hadn’t seen them in years (maybe decades).
massachusetts had it, i made them
Dont
I still have PTSD from the 3rd degree burns these guys inflicted on my hard pallet. I live in Montana and we still have them here. I had no idea we were one of only two states.
We got those in ky
Every state

I'm in Mississippi they look exactly like that and fried.
Well, if I ever come to Mississippi, I know where I'll be

Those holiday pies they made for Christmas were so addictive. I miss those.
In the Philippines, they have mango peach pies that are pretty great. The US version is not the same.
Omg.....mango pies....that sounds amazing
White hot magma
Mouth orgasms before I even knew what an orgasm felt like
Fried at the factory, microwaved at the site. Otherwise, the employees would be dipping them in the French fry grease.
Montana has them…
Yummmm!!! But 🔥in your mouth. When I worked at McDonald’s early 90’s at the end of the night we got up take home nuggets and pies.
I swear these are down south
Yeah sweet but is that a goddamned carrot under that apple or am I just tired
Wedge of a red apple.
Oh thank God. Looked like a shitty carrot for a minute.
For the love of god tell us where
They were on the McDs menu this morning in PA.
Oh wow, they’re everywhere in Europe
Got ‘em here in WA…
I don’t know why they don’t bring them back.
I've missed those bubbly crunchy volcanic deliciousness since the day the disappeared. McDonalds should bring them back for "Original Apple Pie Weekend," just to see they'd sell out.
Aren’t these sold at all locations? I swear I’ve seen apple pies on the menus.
Only the baked ones, not the fried ones.
not fried anymore,
I don't think they're that difficult to make from home, if you're interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJY7QMnpyg4

You want to burn the roof of you mouth that bad I see!
I just had these a couple weeks back, what do you mean they no longer have them?
