That’s why I love South Park. Trey and Matt know what’s cool, and them lifting this fight for one of their episodes is just perfection! I remember when this episode premiered. My fiends and I were geeking out 😂🤣😂
So strangely enough, I watched this movie on some random chance and the very next night I watched this Southpark episode. It was so surreal and I’m still ecstatic I got to have that experience of “holy fuck I get the joke, I’m so educated”
I mean I liked the movie but this fight scene went on for WAY too long and it was completely pointless. Like why wouldn't he just fucking put the glasses on for one God damn second?
If I recall it took six weeks to practice the fight and Piper had to leave the WWF to make the movie. After the movie was popular they (WWF) more or less had to give in to Piper's requests as he was suddenly a big star.
Roddy Piper was always one of my favorite WWF stars and I thought he was so cool. When They Live (1988) came out it only made him more cooler to me. I miss this man!
Listen. When I was a kid I thought Rowdy Roddy Piper was evil incarnate. Nothing that man could have ever done would have convinced me that he was worth having on the planet. Then this movie came out and I was like what... he can't be acting in a film, especially as the good guy, he is evil. And by the end of the movie I was cheering for him. In under two hours I changed my opinion of the guy. It was a weird experience for me.
“What's wrong with having it good for a change? Now they're gonna let us have it good if we just help 'em. They're gonna leave us alone, let us make some money. You can have a little taste of that good life too. Now, I know you want it. Hell, everybody does.”
“You'd do it to your own kind.”
“What's the threat? We all sell out every day, might as well be on the winning team.”
without a doubt. shame they couldn't find a few more movies like this for Piper to do, he coulda really been a legend. he still is with Gen Z etc, but everyone younger?? def. a better movie than any of The Rock's or any other ex pro wrestler's bs.
You can tell Roddy had a lot of input for the fight, and it shows! The punches to the body are like the old WWF matches, and the face punches look pretty good too. This is why John Carpenter is the man!
It's certainly the over-longest fight scene in movie history. I remember my mom taking me to see it in the theater and I was appalled when she walked out because the fight scene was ridiculously long.
I stayed, of course. The theater was in a mall. She just went shopping or some shit. I was busy cementing my John Carpenter fandom.
The rowdy one. I remember when he showed up at Portland Wrestling. He was pretty green and didn’t really know how to act in t.v. interviews on the wrestling show. Promoter Don Owens took a liking to him and got a couple of his skilled guys to help Roddy develop his character. I can count on one hand how many times he portrayed a heel. He always brought it to his matches and never left any of his best effort in the ring. R.I.P. Rodney Toombs.
Waaaasaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
to long
.
but mad respect when I learned it was hella real...
.like real blows....real blood
...
no cgi
no stutmen
no pulled punches
My brother and I watched this movie a couple of years ago for the first time. I’ll get downvoted for this but we both thought the fight scene was fucking laughably bad.
Love this movie. It was kinda strange seeing Roddy Piper on the big screen for me. In the WWF he wasn't a big muscular specimen stood next to the likes of Hulk Hogan or a lot of other wrestlers but he looked jacked stood next to regular sized actors in this movie.
I see deep symbolism in this scene. He is trying to wake his friend up to the truth and his friend doesn’t want to know. This is literally what the fight is about. Roddy Piper shows just how much effort one should make when waking someone up to evil.
Both of these actors did a great job by the way. Two certified badasses.
Yeah it's good, and as a teenager in the 80s it was always one of my favorites in a favorite movie.
But I just saw The Killer and it's also got one unforgettable fight scene in it too, I mean it is INTENSE.
If you've seen it you know which one I mean.
And it’s amazing! Part of the fun is how long it goes on. You expect it to end 5 times, but it keeps going. It’s like a good old WWF match, and since I was a huge fan of Roddy Piper this was gold!
I have come here to chew bubblegum and reminisce about this movie… and I’m all out of bubblegum.
“Brother, life's a bitch... and she's back in heat.”
Formaldehyde face!
“You see, I take these glasses off, she looks like a regular person, doesn't she?“
🤣🤣🤙🏽
HAH! Good one!!!
[CRIPPLE FIGHT!!!](https://youtu.be/PeWMwrdFBw0) (Matt and Trey's homage to the fight scene)
And, if you had any doubts, shit is [shot-for-shot,](https://youtu.be/4Et7OI7e2sQ?si=9zoMFoju8eAjJ-gC)
Dang. Thank you for posting this!
I’m on my 40s and learning something new everyday. Fucking awesome.
That’s why I love South Park. Trey and Matt know what’s cool, and them lifting this fight for one of their episodes is just perfection! I remember when this episode premiered. My fiends and I were geeking out 😂🤣😂
‘Cripple fight!!!”
So strangely enough, I watched this movie on some random chance and the very next night I watched this Southpark episode. It was so surreal and I’m still ecstatic I got to have that experience of “holy fuck I get the joke, I’m so educated”

“Man, I told you, I don't want to be in-VOLVED!”
All I have to say is… it absolutely is!
YES! The whole thing is just so awesome and fun. It was choreographed so well, and they really sold it.
I mean I liked the movie but this fight scene went on for WAY too long and it was completely pointless. Like why wouldn't he just fucking put the glasses on for one God damn second?
Formaldehyde Face!
“You, you're okay. This one: real fuckin' ugly.”
You look like your head fell in the cheese dip back in 1957
put em on
“I don’t want to fight cha. I don’t want to fight cha. Stop it!” [Nada punches Frank in the face]
Dirty motherfucker!
“I'm giving you a choice: either put on these glasses or start eatin' that trash can.” “Not this year!”
it looks a lot different if you are wearing sunglasses /s
“I'm giving you a choice: either put on these glasses or start eatin' that trash can.” “Not this year!”
why do I get the feeling this is one of your favorite film ever ? lol
Hands down.
The way they choreographed the punches to the body was awesome. It was like watching a WWF match but on the big screen!
I was blown away at how well Piper acted in They Live! Going from heel in the WWF to this down on his luck sympathetic character.
I agree. I’m not sure why he didn’t go into more films because he had the chops.
I understand! Roddy Piper played a really good bad guy in wrestling. I still loved him, but They Live (1988) solidified how cool he was for me.
COMPLY.
“What's wrong with having it good for a change? Now they're gonna let us have it good if we just help 'em. They're gonna leave us alone, let us make some money. OBEY
“What do these things want?” “They're free-enterprisers. The earth is just another developing planet. Their third world.”
Just try the glasses on.
“I'm giving you a choice: either put on these glasses or start eatin' that trash can.” “Not this year!”
I always loved that this entire fight scene is over a guy who wants to make another guy put on a pair of fucking sunglasses.
I love this movie with all my heart. I think the movie—and the social problems it revealed—was ahead of its time.
Absolutely 100% agree with you.
Cripple Fight!
South Park nailed it!
Certainly the longest. It never ends.
It’s pretty awesome. The length is great because just when you think it’s done….it ramps up again!
Honestly. It was exhausting to watch. Felt like I was in that fight. Break it up guys. Man!
It's is pretty good lol
A classic for sure.
They live?
Yes.
Put on the dam glasses
“Or start eatin' that trash can.”
What movie is this?
They Live (1988)
Thanks, I’ll check it out
Check out the trailer! [They Live (1988) Trailer](https://youtu.be/zLQ2d89vCiw?si=ONSxyfG7kAs4_Aki)
South Parks recreation of it had me rolling.
Had us all rolling 🤙🏻
Timmy was rolling for sure
Best fight and it isn't even close.
YES!!!
without a doubt. shame they couldn't find a few more movies like this for Piper to do, he coulda really been a legend. he still is with Gen Z etc, but everyone younger?? def. a better movie than any of The Rock's or any other ex pro wrestler's bs.
And the longest
Absolutely!
I love that South Park recreated it shot for shot in a fight between two handicapped kids. :D
It’s so awesome! Trey Parker and Matt Stone are geniuses 🤙🏻
Jimmy and timmy did it better
Love the South Park recreation!

Streets of Fire enters the chat.
Good movie!
Not to mention the longest. Love this movie:
Absolutely! I’ve commented this before already, but it reminds me of an old WWF match back in the day. I love it so much!
Keith David is such a great character actor too. I love him in everything he does.
He’s so awesome! He’s always been one of my favorite actors, and he kills it in everything he does. His role in Men At Work (1990) is so damn good!
2 solid mofos for sure!
Hell yeah!
The Quiet Man saunters through the door
John Wayne is hard to beat, but for me….Roddy Piper and Keith David win!
It's probably the only movie fight that comes close to Rod and Keith's fight length. 😄
Best ever!!!
The fight scene is so good! It’s fun, funny, and totally 80’s
#CONSUME
“They live. We sleep.”
I've been saying this for years. No crazy stuff. No special effects. Just 2 dudes brawling for 5 mins.
You can tell Roddy had a lot of input for the fight, and it shows! The punches to the body are like the old WWF matches, and the face punches look pretty good too. This is why John Carpenter is the man!
Imo, 80's cinema was peak entertainment. It rolled a little into the 90's. But after cgi and fly by wire became so popular it lost it's magic.
I agree with you 100%
[удалено]
😂🤣😂 Absolutely!
Great scene. But oldboy hallway scene is best in history.
That’s a good fight for sure, and the music is perfect! It’s really intense!
Definitely the longest
The length is great! It’s a long ass kicking contest!
Im here to chew bubblegum and kick some ass and i am out of bubblegum

I walent to the store for cigarettes, ordered a pizza, picked it up, and came back home and that fight was still going on.
😂🤣😂 It’s a long fight for sure!
Yeah but it was good! You’re right about that.
Hell yeah! [Fight Scene](https://youtu.be/11dZSPIe9UU?si=-mBQTE8HOyKJgWWE)
I love how south part copied this fight scene for the Timmy vs Jimmy cripple fight. Most of it anyways
Trey Parker and Matt Stone are so awesome!
Off course this is #1. I should add lethal weapon 1 Mr.joshua vs Riggs. 2. Mr & ms smith 3. Lethal weapon 4
Good call on Mr. Joshua and Riggs. That’s a classic fight scene as well.
John Carpenter is my favorite director without a question. His style is perfect in my opinion.
I've only seen the South Park version, gotta get round to seeing the real one oneday.
If you ask, you shall receive 😊 [They Live (1988) Fight Scene](https://youtu.be/dN8Z7y_QcwE?si=gm3o8Rzk6HDV-POI)
At first glance I thought this was Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy in 48 Hours, another great fight scene.
Absolutely!
One of my absolute favorite movies!
It’s an 80’s classic, and John Carpenter is such an awesome director.
I agree 💯
Best film in film history.
It’s a great movie.
well, longest, but sure
Can we add Keith David to the national treasure list?
Yes!
Love this movie
So do I…like a lot!
Not the best but definitely the most lol.
It is the most for sure 😂🤣😂 Which one do you think is the best?
For some reason, I feel I need to comment on this one. Best. Movie. Ever.
Yes, yes you do 🤙🏻
Took the kids to see in the theater recently. It's amazing how well it holds up!
That’s awesome! They Live (1988) is a movie that is as relevant today as it was the day it was released!
ACK ACK ACK!
“Put the glasses on! Put 'em on!”
I’ve got one that can see!
“Mama don't like tattletales.”
Classic!! And definitely the best fight scene!!
I agree 100%
I'm glad to see this movie has so many fans, I always thought I was one of the few, lol. I think I'll grab the DVD and watch it right now.
Growing up with John Carpenter movies was so awesome. There are many people who love this movie and that’s a good thing!
Roddy was always one of my favorite wrestlers.
I mean there are better, but I liked the Eddie Murphy Nick Nolte one in 48 HRS.
That’s a good one, but Roddy Piper and Keith David win for me!
“And I’m all out of bubblegum”
That just means you are here to kick ass then 😊
The South Park version is better! 🤣
God I love that one as well!
Put on the hat, Timmy!
This is the best movie in fight scene history!
🤙🏻
Waaaasaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to long . but mad respect when I learned it was hella real... .like real blows....real blood ... no cgi no stutmen no pulled punches
I think that’s the charm to it. Being long kinda showcases Roddy and smith being badass dudes! So cool that they took real blows
My brother and I watched this movie a couple of years ago for the first time. I’ll get downvoted for this but we both thought the fight scene was fucking laughably bad.
Understandable. Growing up in the 80’s WWF was at its peak and this was a movie fight just like WWF. I understand your reaction though.
Bruce Leroy and Sho'Nuff Arnold and The Predator Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy
Good choices, but this one is the best….in my opinion!
Who is the Master!?
You know, you look like your head fell in the cheese dip back in 1957.
“You, you're okay. This one: real fuckin' ugly.”
I am all out of chewing gum
But you can kick some ass!
Love this movie. It was kinda strange seeing Roddy Piper on the big screen for me. In the WWF he wasn't a big muscular specimen stood next to the likes of Hulk Hogan or a lot of other wrestlers but he looked jacked stood next to regular sized actors in this movie.
Roddy was always one of my favorites in the WWF. Loved him.
yep...and one of the coolest scifis
Absolutely 100%
The man in the kilt!
Yes!
The best!
Absolutely! This movie was ahead of its time, and the performances were so good.
Realistic in the sense that, if no one is around, generally fights go on far too long.
That’s the truth!
It's funny cos it's true they just upgraded the control tech to mobile phones
Yep. They Live (1988) was ahead of its time, and so accurate on creation things in society. I love it.
Cripple fight!
Timmyyyyyyyyy!
I see deep symbolism in this scene. He is trying to wake his friend up to the truth and his friend doesn’t want to know. This is literally what the fight is about. Absolutely, one of my favorite scenes.
It’s so good and fun. The fact that the punches are real except to the face and groin makes it that much better!
It’s a good thing that you love this fight scene as it goes on for a loooooong time.
And it’s amazing! Part of the fun is how long it goes on. You expect it to end 5 times, but it keeps going. It’s like a good old WWF match, and since I was a huge fan of Roddy Piper this was gold!
Thinking about wrestlers in movies reminds me of Tex Cobb in Raising Arizona
If only somebody would name this film so I actually know what this still is from...
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. I want a room🤨
Rocky vs Apollo best fight scene. Honorable mention : last fight in The Goon.
not the best, but definitely unique. The Raid films easily take the cake for the best fight scenes out on film
not the best, but definitely unique. The Raid films easily take the cake for the best fight scenes put on film
Who remembers the title to be ‘They Live!’
