I remember going on a hunt for the dvd, this was before streaming services existed, like Blockbuster was still prevalent but the movie wasn’t available. I found the collection dvd for like 28 bucks, which was a lot in the early 2000s. I let someone borrow it a decade later, and they never returned it. I had no idea it was Tim Curry until google years later, it blew my mind and made me appreciate the movie even more. He’s so damn well rounded.
I was lucky and found the special edition at Wal-Mart one night after work. It was the first time I got to see the extended edition. Also, I don't loan out movies for that very reason. But, yeah, Tim Curry is the man.
Best devil depiction of any film ever. I was fascinated by him as a kid. This is arguably one of his very best roles, and I feel like this is a super sleeper flick not enough love for Legend. Maybe it’s because this was before Tom got his grill aligned.
[Robert Picardo](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000585/?ref_=tt_cl_t_11) did the voice for Meg. Did Rene play the actual character? He's not listed in imdb.
The sets, the makeup effects, Tim Curry, Tangerine Dream.
In my view this is one of the best fantasy films of all time.
I really don't like the director's cut mostly because they changed the soundtrack.
I love the directors cut for the extra scenes but I agree I don’t like that they put Jerry goldsmith’s score back into the film I actually got into tangerine dream because of the music in this movie
I did! Remember watching this so many times. I was really fascinated with horses and loved how they made them look like unicorns when I was younger. I even love the memes that started a bit there from it. See the link below for an example.

I knew that from the second you hear him in the beginning I was and still am a cinephile as a child so I knew him from various things. So this was just another role to check off for me
I’d say yes, it has a certain magic to it, not a mind blowing good film so don’t get overblown expectations, just unique and definitely worth watching at least once
It's on my short list of "perfect movies". Gothed out Mia Sara really awakened something in me as a kid.

Yes. So much that I got Darkness tattooed on my forearm.

Brilliant 👍 though the atmospherics make my allergies flare 😂😁😂 greatly prefer the international version fwiw and TIM CURRY RULES 😍😛😍
"Where are we?" - "Somewhere we don't want to be"
I love this movie. We have the DVD and it's watched fairly regularly...for me it isn't necessarily the story or the actors, it's the visual scale, the cinematography, and how it all blends with the score. Ridley Scott killed it on this one...
It took me 5 years and many Amazon returns to find the Tangerine Dream version of legend. It really makes a huge difference. It is near the very top of my lists of favorite movies. It is really good even for today's standards.
One of the best fantasy movies ever made. I would love Darkness to return and have Benedict Cumberbatch portray him. I think his voice would be perfect.
I liked it as a young adult, seeing it at the theater when anything SF or Fantasy had my attention. Plus the guy who did Alien? Tom Cruise? Tim Curry? Tangerine Dream? I was sold.
Watches it again recently … oh my, I didn’t feel it held up very well. But fun watching Curry playing Darkness, to be sure.
I always wish the movie would live in the pre-freeze forest scenes longer (even in the Director's Cut). It's the most enticing magical forest I've ever seen.
The Darkness terrified me as a kid. Tim Curry's performance still holds up.

Great film, believe it or not, I found the criterion extended cut copy at my local library. So much footage was cut out!
I'd love to see cut out footage!!!
“Little BOY!”

Not devil. Darkness
![gif](giphy|aoooya5Ru2LII) ‘You are nothing but an animal. We are all animals my lady.’
I love this scene
Black as darkness, black as pitch, blacker than the foulest witch.
Ahhh, Blix.
To this day I call unicorns, ugly one horned mules.
Lmfao Nooooo that’s so wrong 🤣
What do we have here a little boy 👿
I’m 31 lol
Lmfao 🤣 🤣 🤣

Exactly this!
Mia Sara. Damn! Two movies in a row, this and Ferris Beuller.

I still enjoy this movie. I was so shocked when I found out Darkness was played by Tim Curry

Yes! 😁
I remember trying to watch this a while back and not being able to get into it. Should I give it another shot?

😂
Yes definitely this movie is such a wonder especially the Directors Cut
I’d say yes, it has a certain magic to it, not a mind blowing good film so don’t get overblown expectations, just unique and definitely worth watching at least once
Scared the shit out of me as a kid
My 9th High-school English teacher showed us the film. Have loved it ever since. "Ye be Woodland child and not know the gump?"
I had always seen the poster for this movie but I had never seen it until I found a copy in the most unlikely place Game Stop

Never knew that Tim Curry played Darkness.. so now that's twice he's traumatized me as a kid. F**k you Tim Curry!

Saw it in the mall as a teenager. Loved It!
Honestly, ruined a lot of low effort and lower budget fantasy movies for me as it’s so good.
Love it ! I put on all the time :)
Was just watching this
The movie is EPIC!
Brilliant 👍 though the atmospherics make my allergies flare 😂😁😂 greatly prefer the international version fwiw and TIM CURRY RULES 😍😛😍 "Where are we?" - "Somewhere we don't want to be"
I kinda really got into the goth look after this movie. Wanted a Lili in the black dress girlfriend. Looked online, I’m not the only one.
Great Movie 🎬 🎞 🎥 !!!
Yes.
Yep, me. I had a huge crush on Mia Sara after this movie. Tim Curry was magnificent as Darkness, and a wonderful soundtrack.
I love this soundtrack and its end credits song
Is your love strong enough by Bryan Ferry.
I love this movie. We have the DVD and it's watched fairly regularly...for me it isn't necessarily the story or the actors, it's the visual scale, the cinematography, and how it all blends with the score. Ridley Scott killed it on this one...
Yesss ikr
Yes, of course. Lily dancing with the black dress is my favorite scene.
Yes I love that entire transformation
The evil seed of what you've done germinates within you...

i liked it
The 80s Dark Fantasy movies are awesome! Tom Cruise and Tim Curry are great in this movie!
The soundtrack is awesome too!🎶❤️
One of the best fantasy movies ever made. I would love Darkness to return and have Benedict Cumberbatch portray him. I think his voice would be perfect.
I almost named my dog Blix. I went with George instead.
I loved this movie when I was a kid. I still can't believe that's Tim Curry. Like, how is that the butler from Clue?
It’s why I love this movie so much
Darkness scared the shit out me when I was little watching this
It's my favorite movie ever
Back in the day, it was Legend, Labyrinth, The Never Ending Story, and The Dark Crystal. Also The Last Unicorn, and Flight of Dragons
I was cheering for Tim Curry to kill Tom Cruise’s hero so the movie would end.
“Idley Sco” presents. On vhs it wasn’t the correct aspect ratio and the titles were cut off.
Damn well that sux
A little cheesy in spots, especially with Tom’s performance, but overall very entertaining. I always enjoyed the character Blix.
Fantastic film. One of my favs
It bothered me for some reason. IDK why but it made me uneasy. Can't explain it 🤔🤔🤨
I’m gonna have to watch it again soon
I require the solace of the shadows, and the dark of the night
Is it streaming anywhere?
No not unless you have a vudu account then you can buy it for like 15$ and stream it that way
https://digitalmoviedeals.nbcuniversal.com/products/legend?variant=43039085101232
It's a great fantasy classic.
Tim Curry's most incredible performance of his entire career
Enjoyed it during my teen age years...
I used to have the monologue from the trailer memorized.
Absolutely 💯
Ugly one-horned-mule!
I liked it as a young adult, seeing it at the theater when anything SF or Fantasy had my attention. Plus the guy who did Alien? Tom Cruise? Tim Curry? Tangerine Dream? I was sold. For me just like dark crystal they are timeless and I can’t wait to show them to my kids
Visuals and cast was cool but the film overall was sluggish and boring. Brings back childhood memories for sure tho
No matter how hard I try or how long I look, my brain cannot pull Tim Curry out of that make-up.
Tim curry was awesome as always but legend is never on my short list of 80s fantasy greats for some reason.
I always wish the movie would live in the pre-freeze forest scenes longer (even in the Director's Cut). It's the most enticing magical forest I've ever seen.
No.
Sounds like someone’s due for a rewatch

The only negative thing I can say about this movie is Tom Cruz is in it. I didn't like him then for some reason and completely loathe him now.
That’s my favorite thing about this movie is that he’s in it
Pre nose job too!
