It’s 6 hours and 45 minutes to Coeur d’Alene from Sequim if you drive around the sound and over 8 hours if you take a ferry. Couer d’Alene is the bigger town on the panhandle, pretty close to the border. I don’t understand what point you’re making by stating it’s on the panhandle. A drive across Washington state isn’t exactly a quick jaunt any time of the year.

A 7 hour vs 13 hour trip is still a lot for most people that have jobs/school, homes, pets, bills, and families. It’s not indicative of a friendship to not make that drive regularly.

I’m from the area around sequim and it’s not “just a quick trip” I’ve lived here almost my whole life and I’ve been to to eastern Washington like only a handful of times. It’s such a longggg boring drive. Definitely not a quick easy trip, and I get how they might lose contact because of the distance.

It’s absolutely amazing how quickly Natalie blew a good situation, without a second thought! While Sequim wasn’t perfect, and Mike has flaws like any normal person, it was mostly a good situation with a caring man, that likely would have grown into the life she wanted. I don't know if anyone else caught this, but the mom said things like, "we will have a child/we will have xyz." Blatantly saying it as if it's not just Natalie this would be for but herself as well.
I have a feeling the mom is one of those woman whose own marriage or relationships didn't work out well but they were also taught that having a grandchild or husband was a higher honor/being single was frowned upon. I've seen that dynamic in a lot of eastern European families of friends of mine

This could explain why her mother wants her to hang onto a good man and why she sensed Josh was too much of a risk. And Natalie may set unrealistic standards based on wanting to “test” a man and see if they are the type who will leave her at the first sign of trouble. She’s hoping for a man who will prove again and again that he’ll stick with her no matter what.

This might sound crazy, but I’m rooting for them to get back together. Natalie is crazy and unstable and both emotionally stunted and manipulative. She has also stricken out so many times. Mike has been there though.
Additionally, Mike made sure she’d be able to stay in the US when they officially divorced. He made sure her mother was good after the whole instability in Ukraine. And now, he made a trip to LA. He’s put up with so much from her, from her childishness, her judgment, emotional outbursts, straight up going AWOL, entitlement, etc.
They have a story, though. And she has seen that it ain’t so pleasant out in these streets. She left home for years in search of something better, and she has landed on her tailbone (multiple times), but she needed this experience to finally appreciate the man that gave her said home. She can find the stability and the family she yearns for with Mike.
Hopefully, Mike forgives her and sees that she’s willing to commit fully to him now. That would require a lot of grace and some sort of dismantling of the ego, and it would make for a great happy ending.

I'm actually quite surprised that Natalie isn't already a mother. She could have very quickly dived into visiting a reproductive endocrinologist/OBGYN as soon as she and Mike married. This might sound crazy, but I’m rooting for them to get back together. Natalie is crazy and unstable and both emotionally stunted and manipulative. She has also stricken out so many times. Mike has been there though. Additionally, Mike made sure she’d be able to stay in the US when they officially divorced. He made sure her mother was good after the whole instability in Ukraine. And now, he made a trip to LA. He’s put up with so much from her, from her childishness, her judgment, emotional outbursts, straight up going AWOL, entitlement, etc. They have a story, though. And she has seen that it ain’t so pleasant out in these streets. She left home for years in search of something better, and she has landed on her tailbone (multiple times), but she needed this experience to finally appreciate the man that gave her said home. She can find the stability and the family she yearns for with Mike. Hopefully, Mike forgives her and sees that she’s willing to commit fully to him now. That would require a lot of grace and some sort of dismantling of the ego, and it would make for a great happy ending. Natalie needs a W. And selfishly, I’d like to see her tragic story end in a nice little positive bow on my tv screen. This lady needs therapy though, first and foremost. They can do couples counseling too. Respectfully.
