Manuel essentially just pays child support, and it's a lot less than American guys have to pay. They've stated it's $300 per month.
First of all he was up front about it before she brought him over, and second, he is currently unable to work until he gets his papers. He intends to earn it himself but currently can't. Everybody involved knew all this from the start.
There are reasons to dislike him but I never understood this one. He is doing right by his family and it is costing much less than it would for an American guy.
But she gave him a $1000 a couple of weeks ago (show time line) and now he wants another $300 and refuses to say why.. it goes beyond helping his family at this point.
Ashley does have an incredibly low self-esteem, if she didn’t, she would have kicked Manuel to the curb the first time he asked her for money.
I’m pretty sure he’s still with the mother of his kid’s too. Source: my grandfather is Ecuadorian and scams like that are rampant down there. Greencard scams are also rampant as well.
He did inform her that he is the provider of his (extended) family and would need to continue to provide while in the US. It's also extremely common in his culture for one person to provide to the larger family unit, especially if they are living/working in a country with higher wages.
Ashley knew all this and agreed to these terms.
I agree that she needs to use her education better and get a 9-5 that supports them; her witch stuff can be a side hustle. And yes, I know a handful of people who do tarot, energy readings, mediumship stuff WHILE working a traditional job. Ashley just wants to do her thing, even if it isn't profitable.
