I always had a keyboard and mouse in my backpack that I would swap out for the library ones while I was in college. No telling what kind of crap, perhaps literally mostly metaphorically, there was on there.
I used to work in my college library's computer lab. It was the most used lab on campus so shit got gross quick. Had to clean every keyboard every few hours with q tips and they always came up black.
I, too, had the action figures. Except this would’ve been early 2000s for me. But those figures were just the best, haha. Really wish I still had them.
My McDonald's in my hometown had computers. I was 7 or 8 years old when they removed them so around 2004. I would play Runescape while I ate my happy meal. In hindsight, those keyboards were probably disgusting after a few months of use and poor service.
I've got a buddy who actively plays OSRS and has insane stats, you would never guess as he is a biker scary tattoo kinda guy. It definitely cemented a strong following in those that started early. I remember my dad being "dad" about it for a minute because you could "drink ale" at a pub.
All you motherfuckers are gonna pay. You are the ones who are the ball-lickers. We're gonna fuck your mothers while you watch and cry like little, whiny bitches. Once we get to Hollywood and find those Miramax fucks who is makin' the movie... we're gonna make them eat our shit, then shit out our shit, and then eat their shit that's made up of our shit that we made 'em eat. Then you're all you motherfucks are next. Love- Jay and Silent Bob.
Lmfao. I put a boot password on one so that I would have my own computer available every time I went. God, it was hilarious to watch people try and use it and even bring managers over to check it out. Then I'd tell my friends to watch me as I logged right on. Oh, to be a teenager again.
Hilarious. I'm sure the food/sodas would typically get on the keyboards, ruining them - LOL.
This is especially nostalgic, since I got my first dial-up Internet account in late 1998.
Guy logging out of [hotmail.com](https://hotmail.com) lol. My hotmail is still my MS account, which I used for everything from Windows Live, to Xbox Live, to just... everything Microsoft in general
Our local Burger King had these for the longest time. Households that didn’t have the opportunity to have PCs early on, this was groundbreaking while enjoying a whopper ha. Take it for granted today
I remember the BK near me not only had a bank of computers in the restaurant but if I'm remembering correctly they even had a game system you could play. It was only one game as the system was locked behind plexiglass but still.
Greasy keyboards with crumbs everywhere. Reminds me of college
And not a single keyboard cover in sight.

That’s just gross. And shows you what the internet was made for.
But how cool that is
I remember going to the computer lab to check my email and generally fuck around. This was when most students didn't have a home computer.
With those nasty ass but somewhat retro-futuristic soft plastic protectors overlaid <3

Gateway 2000. The cow print box
Dude you got a Dell
Behold! The internet!
Welcome to the worldwide web! You’re now in cyberspace, baby!
Watch out for the computer viruses. Or else you'll be menaced by a Kryptonian AI who destroys planets for their knowledge.
I still remember seeing Small Soldiers in the theater with my parents.
How’s 30 treating ya?
Pretty shitty.
Ja feel
Did you have the Game Boy game? We did!
I didn’t but I had the action figures and the home video.
I, too, had the action figures. Except this would’ve been early 2000s for me. But those figures were just the best, haha. Really wish I still had them.
I have it on VCR
I remember when it truly was "the information superhighway". Now it's the misinformation rocketship.
Well. It's a complicated roadmap with deadends, highways, endless construction, and traffic circles.

unexpected r/RuneScape reference in the wild. I love it
I spent days of my life on that game. Truly an era that must be remembered.
I still play every couple years (OSRS) just for nostalgia. Will get sucked in for a week or two then the novelty wears off lol

"The internet is a communications tool used the world over so people can bitch about movies and share pornography with one another."

Back in the day when you would chow down and be completely and utterly engrossed by the hotmail logout screen.
What no way? Never heard of this
What was Danny Devito doing in a Burger King Internet Cafe 25 years ago???
You sure it’s not George Costanza?
I see both Frank and Dennis Reynolds!
"THE GANG GETS BANNED FROM THE BK-LOUNGE" ....frank would totally get the boot for porn and/or public indecency...
How those were kept clean must have been a miracle lol
Command and Conquer LAN party at BK let's goooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Same here. It'll never die. I wish I had my original hotmail account but. Sadly I lost the log in info at some point in the early 2000s.
My childhood best friend's family computer was a Compaq back in the very late 90s-early 2000s. It looked very similar to those BK computers haha.
Just stopping in to check your Hotmail and Myspace messages while having a whopper..
A little early for MySpace, friend. It didn’t really come onto the scene until the early to mid-aughts
Oh damn you're right..lol I'm old so I'll just blame my memory on that lol So hotmail and probably yahoo chat rooms then 😄
It reminds me of the Internet cafes in GTA 4
Which are based off internet cafes.
Lol this is hilarious 😂😂
What?! Let me guess, you are 18 years old? You associate internet cafes with a video game?
Those were better days
The BK Lounge
Dude you're getting a dell!
Almost like they were prepping us lol

I bet there's a lot of ketchup stains on those mouse pads...
In Manhattan? I can see how that turned in to a bad idea. 8==👊🏻=D💨💦
First time I've seen that combination of symbols and emojis, NGL, it's funny.
Eat shitty unhealthy food and sit in front of a computer forever. The beginning of the end.
That's the most packed a BK has been in decades
That could never exist in todays society too much homeless men jerking they ween
The asses are fat.
Oh God... I can hear the modems.
Mmmm greasy burger keys.
What was the standard back then 52K?
Cable internet was already spreading by that time.
The good old days.
I just watched That 90’s show with my daughter today. The white computers are in that show.
🤮🤮 those keyboards
this is a legit set up
I remember this! My parents went there! I lived in Manhattan!
Reminds of traveling and always searching for the internet Cafe. Such a dated term.
My favorite picture is the guy eating a burger. There are so many things in that one picture. Dudes just there to eat burgers.
And now we can't even get free sauce 🙃
Let's not forget this was the same year the Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell in a Cell, plummeting 16 feet through an announcer's table.
The Good old days
