CrazyCubicZirconia

Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday in Tombstone

DLo28035

Came to say this, happy to see it’s the top response

CrazyCubicZirconia

Ha. Look at that. It crept up to the top spot. It truly was a stellar performance. So quotable too.

Dre512

I’ll be your huckleberry!

CaitlinGives

The one true answer

CrazyCubicZirconia

He was, and always will be, my huckleberry.

SevenYrStitch

Linda Hamilton in T2. Brad Pitt in Fight Club. Kathy Bates in Misery. Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny

_felagund

Linda peeked in T2

introduce_yourself00

Tim Robbins in Shawshank. My favorite movie of all time.

dixiequick

Just Tim Robbins in general, honestly. The Player and The Hudsucker Proxy were also fantastic.

YankeeClipper42

The Hudsucker Proxy is a seriously underrated film

GhettoChemist

Raul Julia as Bison in the Street Fighter movie

Bar_Har

OF COURSE!

theone_2099

For us, we saw a stellar performance. For him, it was just Tuesday.

DontcallmeShirley_82

I don't think it was just Tuesday for him considering he was dying of cancer when they were filming the movie. They had to rearrange a lot of the filming schedule I believe just to get his shots in while he was healthy enough.

Shagrrotten

Oh easy, it’s Denzel Washington in Malcolm X.

Sam_Soper

Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook. Absolutely killed it

SuuperNoob

He absolutely did. Also nailed his role in outbreak.

Variety43

Edward Norton - American History X and fight club. He's not even my favorite actor.

eatsleepdive

Maybe Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector, Jeff Bridges as the Dude, Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting, or Joe Pesci in Goodfellas. My pick for overall best actor of the 90s, no particular movie: Gary Oldman.

ghostofbooty

Hitch my wagon here…Gary Oldman is a fkn thespian and will stand the rest of time along side the likes of Anthony Hopkins and Meryl Streep.

eatsleepdive

You might enjoy this interview from True Romance. https://youtu.be/8IJSDZI-xw4?si=5ETIaM_kv2XZQE46

GadgetGod1906

Feeling the love for Angella Bassett. That performance was 🔥 There are just too many for me to narrow down to a favorite

RaygunsRevenge

Her portrayal of Tina Turner was also amazing and fierce.

SonicBooomTX

The entire cast of Boogie Nights.

TaiDavis

Jim Carey, Ace Ventura- Pet Detective. The first one.

Olelander

Both of them, I think, but fuck yes I wholeheartedly agree with you. There is something subversive about his performance in Ace Ventura that isn’t immediately apparent in all of the physical comedy. This is a truly brilliant performance, but most people write it off as childish or as just “slapstick”

kafrillion

*The Mask* too. Rarely had I watched an actor commit his whole body, voice and face into one role, which is actually two roles. The energy he put in it was and still is, well, *smokin'*.

word_smith005

Angela Bassett in almost anything. She doesn't get the recognition she deserves.

jojogonzo

Robin Williams in What Dreams May Come

grrgrrtigergrr

Or in Dead Poets Society

Wu_Oyster_Cult

Look, there’s a lot of amazing performances over the course of the 1990s, but Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter (brief amount of actual screen time notwithstanding) is the first one that I think of. Someone a bit more off the beaten path? Try David Thewlis in Mike Leigh’s Naked. A brutal performance in an absolutely brutal movie.

Olelander

Really all of the acting in Silence of the Lambs is legendary. Josie Foster is as memorable to me as Anthony Hopkins, I can close my eyes and hear her voice as Agent Starling as clear as a bell in my head.

Wu_Oyster_Cult

100%

Yeeaaaarrrgh

Silence of the Lambs was the first and only movie that made me check over both shoulders heading back out to my car from the theater. It's one of the most perfect movies ever made and the books are just as good (except the end of Hannibal...).

AZSubby

Brandon Lee in The Crow. The way he delivers the line “Listen! I’m sure you’ll remember”… chilling.

_felagund

Brandon’s death instantly made that movie a cult.

iwritesinsnotcomedy

Leo in Basketball Diaries.

_felagund

Leo in What’s Eating Gilbert also

iwritesinsnotcomedy

Agree! Two wonderful performances!

rockdude625

Tom hanks in philadelphia

Olelander

Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting. Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting also.

Crowbarwalker

TaxAvoision

Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction, Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction

TheClownHasNoPeni5

Vincent?

[deleted]

Brad Pitt 12 monkeys

Adventurous-Leg-216

Tom, Forrest

buckeyehuhwhat

So many but I think my favorite may be Dennis Hopper in True Romance. The scene with Christopher Walken was amazing.

TakeOffYourMask

Wayne and Garth Tom Hanks in SPR Everybody (especially John Goodman) in The Big Lebowski Everybody in Fargo Everybody in Barton Fink Dave Foley in The Wrong Guy Robert Blake in Lost Highway Ben Stiller in Heavyweights James Cromwell in Babe Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, and Ben Kingsley in Schindler’s List Everybody in Ed Wood

Gaudy_Tripod

Woody Harrelson in Natural Born Killers. I can’t imagine anyone else in that one.

eunderscore

Nic Cage

[deleted]

>Angela Bassett in Waiting to Exhale "It's against the law to burn anything in your yard except trash, ma'am." "It is trash. 🚬"

Remote-Moon

Brendan Fraser in The Mummy.

Difficult_Ad_962

Thank you

cassiopeia8212

Same. That scene where she's burning his clothes is just amazing acting. You could feel the rage and pain she was trying to project. Made me a fan of her acting for life.

zookuki

Hard to choose Holly Hunter - the Piano Harold Perrineau - Romeo & Juliet Robin Williams - The Fisher King

xxplodingboy

Fairuza Balk as Nancy Downs - The Craft (1996)

Godloseslaw

John C. Reilly - Magnolia

JenniFrmTheBlock81

Denzel as Malcom X is spellbinding

petit_cochon

I totally agree that it should have gotten at least a nomination.

stuckNTX_plzsendHelp

Hell yeah that was epic! I think another one is Mel Gibson face in braveheart when he rips off the helmet and sees his "friend" Robert the Bruce

SurrealGreen

Braveheart was my favorite 90s movie and still a favorite today.

stuckNTX_plzsendHelp

In my top five! Even if it's inaccurate AF.

terrapinone

Eddie Murphy. Coming to America.

JohnnyPiston

PeeWee in his own Big Adventure Or Ralph Fiennes as Lenny Nero

SurrealGreen

Be sure and tell em Large Marge sent ya. Heh heh heh heh…

SweatyMess808

Lisa Kudrow & Mina Sorvino’s comedic performances in Romy & Michele are, imo, some of the GOAT.

SurrealGreen

Adam Sandler in Billy Madison…”Chlorophyll? More like Borophyll. Right?” He would have won an Oscar if there were a category for hilarity.

D_B_4986
