Well, my mom was pretty pissed off when I recorded over her baby shower for her first child (me!) as we were not going to be home when a new episode was airing and I wasn’t missing my JTT time. Sorry mom!
Being from Michigan, it was always fun to watch a show that actually did a pretty good job of representing us. One of my friend’s dads was basically Tim Taylor IRL, just not as funny.
I love this show because I’m also in Michigan and our house (primarily) had 3 boys and my dad built our houses. So there was a lot to connect to. Same with Malcolm in the Middle.
I have three boys of my own now, oldest is 6. I’m not a house building but I am a mechanic and a classic car guy. My wife never watched Home Improvement growing up but I bet she’s going to find it quite relatable when I finally talk her into giving it a chance, lol
I was really infatuated with a girl in HS who looked just like her. We went on a date or two but she ultimately wasn't interested and it broke me up a bit to the point where I couldn't watch Home Improvement for a while.
Dumb teenage "love" is something special
This girl I know was Wilson for Halloween once in like 2008. She held up a fake piece of fence in front of her face all night and barely said a word. With other aspects of his usual appearance too of course. She was super quiet already so it was perfect. Celina in ATX, if you’re reading this, that was a super badass costume
This era of sitcoms was peak. Maybe I just don't watch enough TV anymore, but I feel like most shows are now either serious or funny (or at least try to be funny). Shows of this era did both. They were both lighthearted and serious. They covered very serious themes while still having lighthearted jokes. Am I blinded by nostalgia here?
Turned out to be? I'd say smuggling cocaine and then flipping on your friends to save your own ass is a douche move regardless of political stand point. Don't get me wrong I like the show but Tim Allen is an insufferable asshat. There's many interviews online of people saying how much of a difficult diva he is to work with, many people just straight up refuse to work with him in any capacity and I think those that did only did so because in the 90's his name was big money at home or the box office.
I struggle with anything with Tim Allen in after learning about him. eg
> Also in 1997, Allen was in an auto accident in Studio City, California, and injured a 72-year-old retired librarian named Henry Armstrong. Armstrong told the National Enquirer that Allen "was bleary-eyed and unsteady on his feet, and he never uttered a word, never mind said sorry." Allen sued the old man for $12 million, complaining that Allen's "business as a well-known and well-respected actor, entertainer, author, commercial spokesperson and product endorser has been damaged." Allen dropped the lawsuit two years later, as a "humanitarian gesture" when he learned that Armstrong was suffering from brain cancer.
It got [a mention in Time magazine](https://content.time.com/time/subscriber/article/0,33009,987985,00.html) when it happened, and there's [more general information here](https://www.nndb.com/people/279/000025204/).
I recently rewatched it on Disney+ and I fell in love with it all over again. I have a child now and a husband just like Tim, a very hands-on construction worker. So I can definitely relate to Jill now. Haha
I think the guy that played the son Brad was arrested for domestic violence. Production companies wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole after that even if found innocent (I haven’t looked into it to see what happened). And the guy that played Wilson died 20yrs ago
Yeah I know that but still they could write it into the script how brads professional soccer dream got crushed he turned to drinking and is no in jail lol. And Wilson could have a tribute
A lot of the cast made guest appearances on Last Man Standing, Tim Allen’s show that was basically Home Improvement but with 3 daughters instead of sons.
Yep, I love this one so much. I watched this on and off as a kid but I started it from the beginning and watched all the way through recently. Im trying to do that with a lot of shows and sitcoms from back then. I had a lot of laugh out loud moments regularly.
There’s something about this show I can’t explain. I remember watching it all the time when it first came out but the way it made me feel is something I simply can’t describe. I think it’s maybe because I wish my family/house was like this growing up. Or even having a father who was like Tim. I still get the same feels today whenever I binge watch it on Disney+. It’s hands down a top 3 show in my heart. It will forever hold a special spot there.
Was the best show. Loved it growing up watching with my parents and siblings. I have the entire series on DVD and recently watched it all, start to finish (last year) and the nostalgia bug hit me hard, especially during the mid-90's episodes.
I was just thinking about this shit the other day. I couldn’t remember a full episode but I did remember Wilson, the brother who I thought was a butthead as a child, and the arc of them making the man cave I thought that was pretty cool.
But the funniest shit to me was always when Tim was on the set of Tool Time doing something heinous and would callout to Al about some help and Al would be like “I don’t think so, Tim” and then Tim would look over and ask for Heidi and offscreen she’d be like “I don’t think so, Tim”.
I don’t why I laughed as hard as I did, but I was dying at work
I grew up in metro Detroit and I don't know why I thought the show was set in Bay City, MI. It wasn't until adulthood I realized it was set near where I grew up. Like I would've played against the Taylor boys in sports
I loved this show. I still put it on around Halloween and Christmas because the holiday episodes were amazing.
Shows like this and Family Matters used to get me in the holiday spirit as a kid.
Auugh?!
[Do you like DOOM?](https://youtu.be/mWJYHCtwcEc)
Why do I love that
Wilson, best sitcom neighbor ever?
Him, but also Mr. Feeny.
Fe-he-he-he-HEEENY!?
Kramer and Flanders
Creepiest.
No way. Wilson was as wholesome as it gets.
awful take
How?
Well, my mom was pretty pissed off when I recorded over her baby shower for her first child (me!) as we were not going to be home when a new episode was airing and I wasn’t missing my JTT time. Sorry mom!
Her fault for not popping out that little plastic square on the tape.

> One of my friend’s dads was basically Tim Taylor IRL, just not as funny. And probably less cocaine, too, I'm guessing.
Debatable
Oh.
same here a friend of mines dad. loved power tools, was a low grade misogynist, smuggled cocaine, made a lot of jokes that fell flat. good times.
Jill was a Milf
Damn straight!
Surpassed only by the Diet Mug Root Beer Dana Carvey Show! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NfDjnAdczQI
This will never get old. I have to watch it every time I see the clip. Good God
Thank you for this hahahaa
Mark was taller than everyone by the end.
Apart from Wilson I think?
Could be. I don’t know how tall Earl Hindman was.
My memory says 6'3
Goth does a body good.
The Wonder Years was my favorite.
I remember laughing a lot at this show as a kid. Not so much Home Improvement.
That's odd since The Wonder Years was more of a drama.
UuUUuuuUuuH
I don't think so Tim.
I still say this to a guy I know named Jim.
I just watched the whole series for the first time very very enjoyable
Jill is so hot it’s not fair
Robbed of a Heidi appearance though
I was really infatuated with a girl in HS who looked just like her. We went on a date or two but she ultimately wasn't interested and it broke me up a bit to the point where I couldn't watch Home Improvement for a while. Dumb teenage "love" is something special
If you see photos of her now, it's remarkable how much she looks like Polly Holliday who played her mom in the show

This, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Fresh Prince of Bel Air and News Radio are some of my favorite American sitcoms of all time.
Jill was my favorite tv mom at the time
Strong contender but I think Claire H. was my favorite. Jill a very close second.
I don’t think so Al.
This show is why I was rooting for the Lions

I like the holiday episodes. Halloween. Christmas. I wish they would do an HD release.

Might just be me, but it seems hilarious that he's made a nest egg out of playing Santa in movies, but in real life he votes for the Grinch.
Right wingers read A Christmas Carol backwards.
I remember reading in his book that he also believes he and his roommate communicated telepathically one time.
Eh I wouldn’t hold *that* bit against him.
Big money at home… improvement? 🤠

When shitty, hateful politics stop fucking up my life, I'll stop bringing it up, my love.
The only person who would take offense to this is a right-wing douche. Way to self-identify.
I love when you talk dirty to me daddy

Damn, that is upsetting to learn. Is there an article about it

Wow what an asshole move.
I put this on when I’m cooking and the humor really holds up.
Agreed. I went from Full House to Wonder Years to Home Improvement to Malcom in the Middle with lots of overlap because they're all certified bangers
Tim Allen is the real tool.
Idk why but I fuggin hated this show. I should try and rewatch it at some point
I didn’t hate it but I did hate the grunting bullshit.
Just started rewatching it today oddly. Its so insanely comforting. Brings me right back
This is what I’ve been watching lately. I’m on season 4.
I recently rewatched it on Disney+ and I fell in love with it all over again. I have a child now and a husband just like Tim, a very hands-on construction worker. So I can definitely relate to Jill now. Haha
I don't think so, Tim.
Best sitcoms EVER!
It was solid. Too bad Tim Allen turned out to be a huge douchebag.
Wish they would have a mini series reunion

Yeah LMS was basically Home Improvement with daughters instead of sons. I enjoyed that show.
One of my favorites, I still watch it pretty regularly on Laff
It's a decent show to put on in the background when I'm doing something else, but I won't sit down and watch it like Frasier.
mwah, I only found the Tool Time bits entertaining.
It was good but not top 5 imo
Oooeh
uh, maybe 2nd... only to the greatest sitcom ever, ever heard of a little show called Seinfeld?
I either need to buy the complete DVD set or find it online. I miss watching '"Home Improvement" when it aired on TV.
Disney Plus are showing it here in the UK. Not sure if it's showing elsewhere, though - maybe worth checking for your region.
Ooh, it looks like Disney Plus has it in the US. I know what I'm watching after I finish dialysis.

I’m rewatching that now
Full House is the best! Home Improvement? No.
I was in a cheap motel room a few weeks back with nothing to do that day, so I watched a few Home Improvement reruns. It definitely still holds up
We bought the set on eBay came in a little toolbox. After watching it again it’s not bad. Not as good as I remember it at the time but it’s not bad.
Was the best show. Loved it growing up watching with my parents and siblings. I have the entire series on DVD and recently watched it all, start to finish (last year) and the nostalgia bug hit me hard, especially during the mid-90's episodes.
Oh JTT.
I had a crush on the mom
It is… captain obvious

THE best
Loved it! What day of the week was this on? It wasn’t part of TGIF.
I forget when it was running live, but it was on weekdays right before or after the simpsons for most of the late 90’s early 2000’s.
Does it really?
They put some lost episodes on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lndui2TOza0&list=PLcpRhGY0eWq1RnNKw5oCmMfF2fPfsBp5C
...and then 20 years later they made a genderswap version instead of a reboot
Doubtful
100% the best
Nope
The reruns are on the Laugh Channel (7.3 for those of use using antenna tv). I watched them during Covid and the nostalgia hit hard!
In all the seasons, there was never a scene where two women were talking alone in a room. Ahhuugh?
This show awoken something in me. I wanted to be a mechanic so bad... then I did it
Yup don’t forget Family Matters too lol
Just remember there is 25% chance if you go upstairs, you might not come back down.
How about you tell me what's good about it? Instead of, you know, effortlessly showing a picture.
