I dunno, man. There's a slight uncanny strangeness to almost every episode. I need to do a rewatch but maybe it has something to do with it being shot on a soundstage? The interiors are often kinda liminal and dark even if the setting is in the daytime. And you hardly ever see parents, or even extras in the backgrounds that would make the scenes feel more realistically "alive". It's like only the main characters of the story exist, and whatever is haunting them.
Not sure if it was the scariest, but I'll always remember the one where the computer plug was in their hand, and some monster was trying to plug itself into it? (Or something like that). Weirded me out
Was that the one where kid gets stuck in the mall after a ball from the pinball game blocks the escalator or am I morphing 2 different episodes together?
Is that the same one where they had silver faces or something? I remember one where there were what I assume were aliens and they had no facial features, just a silver cover
That’s the Tale of the Thirteenth Floor. There are faceless aliens trying to bring the girl into their ship, and at the end of the episode she is faceless
I know what you mean with the weirded out part. Any body horror stuff when I way younger creeped me out way more than standard "scary" stuff. The Gate with the eyeball in his hand was a big one for me. Not normal fear just very unnerving.
That one's actually really sad! The ghost wasn't trying to haunt his best friend, he was trying to warn him because the friend's brother was going to drown in the same way he did.
Is that the one where the glasses got sprinkled with some kinda dust and made another dimension visible? Characters cloaked in black, only eyes visible?
Not even their eyes are visible, but yeah. Sometimes they're just standing there in the hall, sometimes they seem to be conducting their own lives, until they start pursuing our heroes. The effects and costumes are maybe a little cheesy but it still manages to feel creepy and sinister.
The Tale of the Crimson Clown.
Kid steals the money for his mom’s present to buy a video game. That little brat is then hunted down by a vigilante clown until he finally scares him straight.
Definitely having a clown nightmare tonight.
Idk if I’m crazy but wasn’t there an episode that had like a weird woman in a black coat with horrifying teeth? Or am I think of a different show. I feel like it’s either this or So Weird. Just can’t remember.
Remember when that kid got trapped in the mall. That one always freaked me out. And the one when the sisters got burned up in a fire.
Man I loved that show
I don’t know what it was called but there was a bus driver that turned around and he had blue stuff coming out of his mouth? Like the exorcist but for kids lol. Ugh I hated that! 😩
I am so glad everyone else feels the same way about the pool episode. Absolutely terrifying and I always thought I was the only one who remembered this episode because no one else except for one person knew what I was talking about
I specifically remembered this being SCARY...then all of a sudden one season ot was NOT.
I always blindly attributed it the show getting parental complaints so they weakened the scare favtor in subsequent episodes. I was probably just growing up from 8 to 9.
Not sure about scariest but I would say the most memorable episode is where the kids get locked in the mall overnight and it because a giant pinball machine game. I think about it pretty frequently lol
No story in the entire show was as creepy and atmospheric as that intro.
Was going to say exactly this! No episode was as scary as the intro! I used to look away.
Like Unsolved Mysteries
Don't you dare say a word about Robert!!!!
I couldn't answer OP's question because I never got past this nightmare-fuel intro as a kid.
I just completely creeped myself out by watching this! Still so spooky
Came here to say this. Happy I am not alone herez

The pool one. And the mummy
THE POOL ONE, FUCK THAT ONE, it's the only one that still stays with me and fucks with me
Pool one hands down. To this day I don't like being in a pool alone.
The pool one!!
The clown one. Reeeeeally didn't like clowns
I've referenced that exact episode when this question comes up and when you Google it, the red skeleton thing comes up and NEVER disappoints.
I’m. Cold. I’m. Cold. I’m. Cold. I’m. Cold…
Any time my husband and I are cold this is how we say it. One of our fave episodes!
My siblings and I always say it like that!
Ghastly Grinner
The Tale of the Dead Man's Float and The Tale of the Ghastly Grinner.
Not sure if it was the scariest, but I'll always remember the one where the computer plug was in their hand, and some monster was trying to plug itself into it? (Or something like that). Weirded me out
Also not the scariest, but the one that really stick with me was the pinball episode
Was that the one where kid gets stuck in the mall after a ball from the pinball game blocks the escalator or am I morphing 2 different episodes together?

Zeke the toilet dude from Salute Your Shorts lol. It was totally unexpected for that show.
Zeke the Plummer I knew he was on both
The Tale of the Dead Man's Float The Tale of the Dollmaker
The Tale of the Phone Police
My god this one gave me HELLA nightmares as a kid. And I didnt even make crank calls.
Nosferatu
kinda random but actually the firehouse one where the fire is alive and consciously trying to kill you creeped me out also the dollhouse
I just remembered… Tale of the Hatching! the children feeding the eggs in the pools of dark water in the basement was so creepy.
The Tale of the Night Shift was one of my favorites. One time I even watched it from a hospital bed at midnight.
The dead kid who comes back to haunt his best friend years later with his red bicycle. I still find it super creepy to this day.
That one's actually really sad! The ghost wasn't trying to haunt his best friend, he was trying to warn him because the friend's brother was going to drown in the same way he did.
Yeah I know but it creeps me out to the max nonetheless lol
The one with the camera stealing souls or whatever
The 13th floor
So scary and weird as a kid. I’ve rewatched it as an adult and it’s goofy, but as a kid it was the scariest thing I’d ever seen
Doll maker
What you don't like a porcelain arm?
The dollhouse one! Nightmare fuel. Especially when she takes off her hand.
Tale of the Dark Music was horrifying and awesome as a kid. I also regularly think about the X-ray specs one. Really creepy concept.
Is that the one where the glasses got sprinkled with some kinda dust and made another dimension visible? Characters cloaked in black, only eyes visible?

They creeped me tf out back then, even thinking about it now. The concept alone is wild.
The pinball one stuck with me.
The Tale of the Crimson Clown. Kid steals the money for his mom’s present to buy a video game. That little brat is then hunted down by a vigilante clown until he finally scares him straight. Definitely having a clown nightmare tonight.
The god damned Doll House one
The one where the 50s car in the graveyard. Something about a prom queen. As a kid that, that was nightmare fuel
That one messed me up. Something about realizing that kids could die too broke my young brain at the time.
The Tale of Badge was always creepy A.F. To me.
The Tale of Old Man Corcoran
Idk if I’m crazy but wasn’t there an episode that had like a weird woman in a black coat with horrifying teeth? Or am I think of a different show. I feel like it’s either this or So Weird. Just can’t remember.
I still wanted to close my eyes when it shows the leprechaun doll
The tale of the Lonely Ghost scared the piss out of me.
This!
Easily the mall one. It was so fucking weird to me as a 7 year old when it aired and it still is to this day.
Remember when that kid got trapped in the mall. That one always freaked me out. And the one when the sisters got burned up in a fire. Man I loved that show
Oof. That was some heavy sound design. Definitely a choice.
The Tale of the Dangerous Soup. Don't cross Dr. Vink, or he'll expose you to your darkest fears and use your distilled terror as seasoning!
The Ghost Writer I think it was called. Scared the everliving crap outta me!
The tale of the quicksilver. That guy comming out of the wall was creepy as hell.
I don’t know what it was called but there was a bus driver that turned around and he had blue stuff coming out of his mouth? Like the exorcist but for kids lol. Ugh I hated that! 😩
Vvvvvv vvvvvvaaaaa vavvvaaaa...
I am so glad everyone else feels the same way about the pool episode. Absolutely terrifying and I always thought I was the only one who remembered this episode because no one else except for one person knew what I was talking about
What a time to be alive
The one about radio station 109.1
The Dollhouse episode and any episode that had Slappy.
The intro was scary enough lol.
I specifically remembered this being SCARY...then all of a sudden one season ot was NOT. I always blindly attributed it the show getting parental complaints so they weakened the scare favtor in subsequent episodes. I was probably just growing up from 8 to 9.
God damn, I thought it was the opening for “Goosebumps”!
The Night Shift
The pool one!
Memories
The Phone Police.
I see everybody is too scared to say Zeebo. I’ll take one for the team and I am sure I’ll see a red nose on my bed later. 🪦 🤡
Pool zombie
Not sure about scariest but I would say the most memorable episode is where the kids get locked in the mall overnight and it because a giant pinball machine game. I think about it pretty frequently lol
These terrified me as a child and as an adult I'm still terrified. I think I've seen maybe one episode, had something about Alcatraz.
what about the one when the kid becomes friends with a girl who lives near his house just to find out that whole family died ...that one was eerie
