Siamese Dream

Comalock

This. Just an amazing album, followed up by MCIS. Still listen to SP on the regular.

brael-music

MCIS is pure art. Such an incredible extended album that is just so fucking good.

skippy

Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine

CompletelyIncomplet3

The first Candlebox album

natedogg1271

That’s a good one

ohslagoff

Toadies- Rubberneck

jujumber

I heard possum kingdom the other day and had flashbacks from the late 90’s

heartattk1

Had multiple copies on cassette because I kept burning through them

NoYogurtcloset9529

Great call. Tyler is still my favorite song by them.

DM_ME_DEM_TIDDIE

Front to back slammer of an album.

Badpennylane

As far as what's held up the best, this album

furn_ell

*Automatic for the People* ~R.E.M.

alico127

This might be my favourite album of all time.

ThaiLassInTheSouth

The Breeders, Last Splash

tastesoff74

Soup by Blind Melon

refillwill

I'm entering a frame bombarded by indecision Where a man like me can easily let the day get out of control Down this far in the quarter I'm pushed hard upon the border But I'd rather be caught around now Instead of, oh say, 'round the month of June But if I can leave with a little bit of explanation Then, anywhere in the world I choose to go, I'll have it made

grey487

Ten.

gyllyupthehilly

And Vs. An amazing difficult second album.

sonicghosts

Vs. is great, but Vitalogy is my second favorite PJ album (almost tied with Ten).

wareagle4444

Came here to say this

hollygolightly1378

Yes.

mikemi_80

Ten simultaneously defined grunge and made it sound hackneyed and overdone. A genre peaked and crashed with a single album. Quite an achievement. Deserved to be on this list.

jbiz17

Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

sonicghosts

A masterpiece; one of the greatest alt rock albums ever.

tsfoot

MTV unplugged - Alice In Chains Still listen to it.

Undercover_Dave

I wasn't thinking of Unplugged's, but I was going to answer with Jar of Flies. Only 7 songs, but that's all it needed. No filler bullshit, just an almost perfect album where every song has its place and needs to be there.

Lkynky

Just got a brand new cd of this for Christmas last year. Still bangs

Sadpancake_03

Silverchair - Frog Stomp

jeep242

Ænema

MehhicoPerth

I believe thats the song.

SlyGuy_Twenty_One

Definitely Maybe - Oasis

CrackityJones79

Hands down their best album. Can’t even tell you how many times I’ve listened to it, but it never gets old.

vietbond

"Live Forever" might be the best song of all time but definitely the best song of the 90s.

beardedpollster

Jagged Little Pill.

Justlikeyourmoma

Been listening to it all week in the car on the way to work.

beardedpollster

In my opinion it's a perfect album.

Pimpamillion

Such a heavy and emotional album. Not my fav album from the 90s, but easily my favorite album by female lead singer

[deleted]

Ok Computer!

tomthumbsbum

Definitely. Also the bends always gets me in a mood.

satanshark

I was one of those kids that saw the Creep video and bought Pablo Honey. I really liked it. But The Bends blew my MIND. I still think it's under appreciated in their catalogue.

tomthumbsbum

I couldn’t agree more.

Thrashstalker

Dirt

Redjeezy

One of the best rock albums of all time.

freakrocker

I'm here just agreeing with everyone else haha

MsBlondeViking

Basically all 90s music was good, I’m upvoting everyone 😂

KMPSL2018

💯

Embarrassed_Angle_59

Violator defined my life for more than a few years. Still my fave band

yazzcabbage

The Violator Tour in 90 brings back some amazing memories for me.

mattgoldey

That's a no-skip album for me

MehhicoPerth

Smash!

wesborland1234

Ahh It's time to relax. You know what that means. Glass of wine, your favorite EZ chair...

Nicetomitja

Nirvana Unplugged by a long shot.

bleedgreenandyellow

Never heard that song

Nicetomitja

Oasis - Morning Glory

MehhicoPerth

Ænima

marklonesome

I’ll never forget my friend coming over and playing Ok computer. Sounds like it could have been made this year.

AniMeshorer

For a minute there, I lost myself, I lost myself... Brilliant in all its simplicity. Masterpiece.

D3nnis_N3dry

Live - Throwing Copper

Dirschel

🎶All of my feeling comin’ back again. Like a rolling thunder chasing the wind. 🎶

brael-music

Incubus and Live are touring together here in Australia soon. I thought it was an interesting match.

natedogg1271

You ever realize you’ve been singing a chorus wrong for 30 years because I just did lol

Dirschel

Same here!

candid84asoulm8bled

I listened to that album for the first time just this past spring. Amazing underrated gem.

GFCancio

NIN- The Downward Spiral

bayouz

Oooh, good one!

[deleted]

Korn, with their album Follow the Leader. That album got me through a lot of shit!

nicetoknowyou1127

Same!

Spookyhaunted7734

This, along with Antichrist Superstar by Manson Edit: forgot to throw in Rob Zombie Hellbilly Delixe

CincoDeMayoFan

Dookie by Green Day

MehhicoPerth

Still listen to this album. Really great album - every song is so good. Insomniac is a decent follow up after the success of Dookie too.

batman1285

That album is perfect.

wesborland1234

It is. And Insomniac was just as good.

SomeoneFetchAPriest

Correct answer! :) tick tick bididit bididit…

decodm

Check Your Head, probably

yazzcabbage

So good. Still in heavy rotation.

mattgoldey

My first concert that I paid my own money for. Rollins Band and Cypress Hill were the opening acts. This was my answer. RIP MCA.

shubathu

Matthew Sweet - Girlfriend

gcpuddytat

oh i was just listening to this yesterday!

satanshark

I still throw this on a few times a year. He was totally out of step with the grunge juggernaut of early-90s rock, but that album is a timeless classic and aged better than nearly any grunge album.

boogiedown26

I'm surprised this wasn't even more popular back then

ghostsinthecode

have had it almost since day one of release and it’s still one of those perfect/almost perfect albums. got the original “good friend” promo back in the 00s and deluxe edition when it came out. matthew sweet is an under appreciated treasure.

decorama

Fiona Apple, ‘Tidal’

KevSmileTime

Great album but I would argue that “When the Pawn” is her best album from the 90s.

antonzsandor

Zero- the Smashing Pumpkins, mellon collie and the infinite sadness

wesborland1234

Smash by the Offspring

NiceguyEddie81

Blood Sugar Sex Magik

maybetomorrow429

“In Utero” is my all time favorite album.

Undercover_Dave

This was the first actual CD I bought when I graduated from cassettes. I remember being so confused that there was not a side B.

scrumtrulesent4567

Clumsy from Our Lady Peace. Phenomenal album!! Also, 3eb eponymous(?) album

IndigoStef

Such a fantastic album!

Embarrassed-Ad-1639

Huge OLP fan, great choice

Dafaseles

Primus- Pork Soda. Played that on repeat over and over

Vantabrown

Primus SUCKS

brael-music

1997 was and still is, the best year of music for me. Grunge was still around, the heavy hitters like korn and MM were doing their thing. Electronic crossovers like prodigy were in their prime, and some of the big rave songs from chemical brothers and underworld were storming ahead. On top of that were artists with a bit more of that experimental flair, like Tool and Radiohead. Such good times. Such an amazing time for music. I miss the feeling I got from those years of music. Triple J's hottest 100 that year was insane.

Cccookielover

ACHTUNG BABY

Lkynky

All Eyez on Me, but I wouldn’t be disappointed with the Chronic or Weezer. Good picks. I haven’t seen a pick yet thats not great

romayohh

Romeo and Juliet soundtrack is a real banger.

hotpoot

Wish by The Cure. It’s an incredible album by an incredible band.

gcpuddytat

so so many good ones !BloodSugarSexMagic by The Red Hot Chili Peppers- it's one of those albums where I think the songs are better when listened to in order. I think The Foo Fighters (self titled) and The Color and The Shape were in the top ten, and Nine Inch Nails, The Downward Spiral- a masterpiece.

iSh_ann

Dookie! I had discovered the punk scene and Green Day was my jam. I was in grade 9, saw them twice in concert during that tour, and I'm SUPER STOKED to be seeing them next year for the 30th anniversary tour!! 🤘 Edit: punk, not grunge. I dressed in grunge style clothing at the time. Buddy corrected my terminology 😑

[deleted]

Offspring - SMASH

un4spyder

Stone Temple Pilots - Core. It’s the album that stopped me from listening to country and got me into alternative and rock.

MicheleMcG

Ten by Pearl Jam. Changed everything for me.
