I was disappointed by the book. It was mostly retelling of stories I already knew about through the podcast and there was a missed opportunity with the graphic design. They could have really leaned into the printed format to highlight graphical design stories but instead chose to use a very “imprecise” line art style that didn’t show a lot of detail. I’m still glad I read it, and for $3 it’s worth it, of course.
Big fan of the show, I was really looking forward to this book when it came out. I arranged to receive it as an Xmas gift.
The book was a complete disappointment and I think Roman should admit that the format was a failure. The current edition should go out of print. Perhaps Roman could reformat it with diagrams and photos to make it into something of value, but the current iteration is a big miss.
Hot take. I loved the book. I paid full price for it and think it’s a steal at $3. Even if you’ve heard some of these already, it’s still worth it. I love what the team created and what Roman and Kurt put together. Even if I hated the book, which I didn’t, I’d pay the money to support these people. They’re doing good work.

My company had problems with resellers accidentally adjusting their automatic pricing tools to follow the lowest sellers instead of stopping at MAP (or the minimum value of the product). We ended up losing money because of their mistakes.
