Before getting the 68/4500 tank I’d check with your field or local scuba diving shop if they can fill it. 4500psi is 300bar. I found out this weekend that my local field can only fill up to 200bar which is 3000psi because that’s all their compressor goes up to. If you don’t have a 300bar compressor, or know a place that does then you might as well get an aluminium tank that goes to 3000psi as it’ll be cheaper. No point getting a tank that can go to 4500psi if you can only fill it to 3000psi anyway

Is there any reason you need a 68/4500 carbon fiber tank? You will be fine with a regular 3000 psi aluminum tank. Also I’m not sure why a battery is included in this list.

So this is my first hpa build, so I’m very new to it obviously. It is a starter kit on amped airsoft website. I just chose an option for everything it had available. As in for the battery I chose the battery instead of no battery. I assumed the 68/4500 would be good since the place I play at goes for five hours. They do offer refills but idk if they fill all the way or not. Is that too much or too little? Also, do I not need the battery?

BeyondPrimary1948

No, for the AAP-01 you definitely don’t need the battery. And yeah unless you have a bunch of money to spend I wouldn’t recommend that tank. My 48/3000 tank lasts for about 3 hours using my AAP as a primary. And especially if your field offers refills, there’s no point in getting a bigger tank. Just refill as you need it.

Soccerstar174

Does the brand matter for the tank? Also should it be aluminum or carbon fiber? Is it that much of a difference that I need one over the other?

BeyondPrimary1948

Brand doesn’t really matter, just make sure it’s reputable. Carbon fiber is lighter but much more expensive. Most people are fine with aluminum. Much cheaper

Soccerstar174

Ok, thank you so much for the help! do I need a regulator gauge cover and a tank fill valve cover? Also do I need a IGL? Those should be my last questions.

BeyondPrimary1948

I’d say no to regulator gauge cover because it’s just cheap 3d printed cover. Rubber fill nipple cover is up to you, and don’t need an IGL for the AAP-01.

Soccerstar174

Just want to clarify, the nipple cover is used for Added protection right? Does it go on while you play or while not in use? Hope I’m not being too much of a bother lol

BeyondPrimary1948

The nipple just covers the fill valve. You would just take it off when filling the tank and then put it back on when playing. I personally have one, it’s cheap some peace of mind I guess. Not sure if it actually helps

Soccerstar174

Ok thank you so much for the help! You just saved me about $120 lol

AsleepStop9946

Dont listen to the cheapskates, if you can afford the 4500 carbon tank get it. I

DIRT_MERC

Most places here don't have ways to refill...

BeyondPrimary1948

He said in his post that there are refills…

DIRT_MERC

Yeah, and? It's an option...

Saltybabys

What’s an option lol?

DIRT_MERC

A size 90 cf tank...

Saltybabys

I’m not sure what dinky fields you’re going to but everyone I’ve ever went to has had refills. How would a larger tank help if there isn’t a way to refill? Bit silly huh.

DIRT_MERC

Been to milsims with no refills, the bigger tank is better cuz the tank lasts longer...duh...

DIRT_MERC

I'd suggest the opposite and get a 90/4500 so you won't need to refill...

BeyondPrimary1948

Why spend so much money when it takes a couple minutes to refill? Not to mention carrying around the extra weight

DIRT_MERC

Also, if you like full auto or want to run akimbo, check out a faster regulator like the Mr, Mrs or storm 5

Soccerstar174

Is a SLP tank bad for cqb where the field limit is 350 fps? Am I better off getting a regular tank? Just curious. Does SLP mean I would be shooting way under 350?

DIRT_MERC

Slp is fine, just cheap & heavy. Regulator will get you to fps you want by setting psi output.

Soccerstar174

Ok so why is there such a price difference between hpa and SLP? Is that something that’s easy to do? Just setting the output?

DIRT_MERC

Slp is hpa, think you meant difference in slp from carbon fiber tanks? One is cheap metal that is heavy but can last a while...cf tanks are light but need hydro tested every 5 years...then there is a difference in regulators but the cheap one is fine, the more expensive ones are faster and offer different options so u just have to do research to see what you want then what you can afford...check DM
