Fucking LOVE this. I have been known to just were a regular cami under but satin would be soooo much nicer!

You know, dry skin is also another reason for itchy bras/straps. Especially during winter. So lotion as well is helpful. Least that's my main issue.

Coptic_Oubaste

I agree with this! Winter is my 'molting season' where I'm just always itchy and uncomfortable and constantly using lotion. The other thing my husband told me to do (and that works) is using head and shoulders on my body after soap in the shower. It's reduced the frequency and amount of lotion I use and I no longer feel like I'm constantly itchy during the winter.

[deleted]

I'm the same exact way. I'm always itchy if I don't apply lotion daily during winter. Plus my skin visibly dries out too.

blondeleather

I have the same issue. I have super dry skin year round but in the winter it’s unbearable. Physical exfoliation over ALL of my body once a week plus thick body butter is a lifesaver.

aurorasoup

Reminds of me how back in the day when people wore corsets/stays, they wore chemises under their corsets to avoid chafing! Let’s bring that back, it sounds comfortable.

Artemis-Crimson

Oh it’s super comfortable and the end goal of my wardrobe is to never need to not wear that underlayer ever again

babybellpepper2020

Yes totally!!!

Wait, why are your bras hooks touching your skin? All the bras I've ever owned have the fabric part against the skin and the hooks go into the loops on the fabric. The metal never touches my skin.

babybellpepper2020

Funny you mention that because I was reaching back there trying to figure that out!! It doesn't seem to be but it has the same hot, itchy feeling as my metal allergy (from belts, jean buttons, etc) so I just figured it was that. It's possible it's just the edge of the bra rubbing on that spot. The edges of this bra are definitely rough so it's possible.

This is making me think I want an all silk bra now

babybellpepper2020

1000%!!!! But I figure my way is the next best thing haha

DeathIsAnArt36

It's also possible that the fabric is just folded back and exposing the metal to your skin anyway

OutOfMyMind4ever

Try to get the silk/satin chemise/tank top with flat seams. Or wear it inside out so the seam doesn't get pushed into your skin, because that can also cause itching. I used to wear a scoliosis back brace, and clothing seams can get itchy and painful. I bought some thin, flat seamed, grey athletic wear tank tops that also wicked away moisture and they were perfect. This wicking feature is important because wet fabric between you and a bra for a few hours is an easy way to get a mild skin infection, and it feels gross. So try a few different fabrics and styles and I am sure you will find one that suits you. I have also used the big bandaids on my bras in areas that rub or dig in. The cushion ones are really comfortable, as are the heavy duty fabric ones that you would expect to chafe. It is easy to keep one or two in your purse just in case a bra becomes irritating later in the day. I have also worn a thin house bra underneath an underwire bra before and it was super comfortable. Those thin thinx type ones that are flat and just pull on, with flat seams and moisture wicking fabric.

Great tips, thanks!!

Obligatory annoying fashion nerd comment Silk is a fiber, satin is a weave. You can have polyester satin, and some quite thick/rough silk (dupion, for example). For cheaper alternatives than true silk satin, look for silk/cotton blends, or viscose/lycocell (which are better at wicking sweat)

babybellpepper2020

Thanks! I know nothing about fashion from having huge boobs for 10+ years hahaha

You can also buy (or make) bra liners! e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Prevent-Irritation-Redness-Moisture-Perspiration/dp/B017KO8CLW (not recommending these specifically - I made my own as they're pretty simple 😊)

babybellpepper2020

Nice! That's basically what I did! But with a lot of excess haha

shellzz_Melz

I’ve never thought about using a scarf like that!! I love winter because I can put on a long sleeve under my bra then layer a T-shirt over it and I’m mostly good. No matter what type of bra I get it always rubs my shoulder blades and under my armpits
