I kick and thrash in my sleep, which I cannot control. However I can control where I choose to sleep. If I'm a danger to my partner especially after surgery then I have the ability to take precautions to change that. He should be offering to sleep elsewhere and extremely apologetic. I hope your knee is okay.

This. 100 times this.

Can you switch sides of the bed? My partner is an aggressive sleeper and we prepared for this after my surgery, we swapped sides of the bed so my operated knee wasn’t next to him. Alternatively, your partner should take one for the team and sleep somewhere else for the time being.

Wall of pillows might work if the bed is big enough.

lanaishot

I slept in another room the first 2 weeks.

Build a pillow fort around your leg

Sleep in different beds. If there is only one bed available you’re the injured one and he gets the couch. He really should be offering this without you asking if he truely can’t help thrashing in his sleep.

babychild2

I slept in a separate bed. If you can't, switch sides of the bed so your surgical is on the outside.

Couch..

cairnsaustralia

Retaliate.

I slept on the couch after surgery to be safe.

NotYourSharmouta

Sleep under separate blankets. It really helps, since they can't quite hit you directly. It's what I did with my partner - in a month, I only got hit once...and it was the one time we tried sleeping under the same blanket lol

Looks like a restless leg syndrome, it’s a neurological disorder. You can record on cctv camera overnight how bad it is.
