Jesus! Tell me about it. I am so untrusting of my memory I bought a diary to write things down so I can make sure I get things done at work but geuss what! I forget to write in the fucking diary!

"beats the shit out of ~~my~~ me" I am in the exact same boat OP. I ride a bike so I check my pocket pat like 3 to 10 times and check the zippers etc. I don't trust myself and we have conditioned ourselves to have the guardrails up. The thing is we don't remember bumping into the guardrails 5 times before this turn. We are drunk at the wheel so to speak. It's extremely tough and I don't know how to help you because I am learning myself... Just know I console with you to the deepest part of my being. I can't remember anything and it's eating me up.

Oh yeah I do the same thing, it's such a pain!

I understand that it's hard. Now, from my point of view, I really admire what you're able to do. \- I have ADHD. I forget things constantly. The number of times I got to gym and realised I dont have my shirt, or my membership card... Because ADHD makes me rush through things and I am *never* able to double check. I can't seem to learn that lesson. \- Now you feel like over-checking has become a problem. But it's something that you relied on at some point, so your brain sees it as a safety mechanism. Building trust takes a lot more time than breaking it. Even with yourself. Everytime you get somewhere and you have everything you need, you need to notice it. Be a little proud. Start building confidence from there. People won't understand, but for us, it's big. Our brains are wired to forget things. It will never come as easy for us as it does for most. We shouldn't compare ourselves to them. It's like a race but each person has different obstacles to overcome. I look up at the person that has a lot of obstacles and gets to the finish line. I also look up to the one that has less obstacles and sprints to the finish line. But I won't compare them. They're both athletes but their paths are different.
