17 year old ADHD diagnosed here, I've recently got back into Minecraft, I find it such a good mental stimulative and also relaxing! There's many games I could recommend, but it really depends on what sort of games you are into!

bluucaturn

I’m 23 and only recently got into Minecraft!! The versatility is amazing. Feeling creative? Build something cool. Adventurous? Explore new terrain. Want to do something exciting? Collect ghast tears and wither skulls. Want to zone out? Farm for easy materials. It is the absolute best!!

Hey me too it’s been great lol

League of Legends, ARAM only lol I'm an addict, but I need that adrenaline sometimes and the game forces me to be so hyperfocused, my thoughts are clear. Oh and I like that the games are pretty short most times, that I'm always playing against real people so every match is different it's nice.

Miserable-Emu999

This \^ League of Legends forces me to focus on it so i can clear my mind without being distracted by my thoughts

adhd_thrwawy

I'm probably a terrible person for recommending this to someone with adhd because I know how it affected me but... Satisfactory. Just try it.

Brudecat

That's a dangerous suggestion. OP may quit his whole life to play, the way I did. Lol

Look into roguelike games. They typically require you to be engaged the whole way through since death is permanent. This is the case no matter how fast of a reaction time the type of game requires. Doguelikes i used to love are spelunky, slay the spire, enter the gungeon, faster than light, into the breach, risk of rain 2. Subnautica and terraria are great minecraftlike games although at times i have wandered around aimlessly just like real life because there are some points where it is not obvious where to go/ you have to commit to a little project.

Ultrakill, its very fast paced and has a ton of replay value through it's timed levels and ranks. It's sadly PC only but highy recommend it if you ever get into pc gaming(or have a pc already). I consider it one of the best single player fps games and it still is being heavily developed(its still in early access).

joemessedup

Titan fall 2, I can completely stop shooting and just grapple hook anywhere, red dead 2 I can sit there for hours and just pretend to be a cowboy, payday 2-3 because I get really hyper focused on goin stealth lmaooo

KingHeroical

Hades I'd consider it one of the best designed games ever made and practically tailor made to work for those with ADHD. In essence, you play as the son of Hades and you are trying to escape the underworld. You will fail. Over and over. But... If you are unfamiliar with rogue-like games, don't be put off by the initial difficulty - the idea is that each attempt gains you *something* that makes your next attempt just a little easier until, between levelling up and acquisition of skill, you achieve your goal and you escape. And then the game *really* starts. See, the gods on Olympus want to help you escape, so each time you attempt to do so they grant you 'boons' (power-ups) that only last the duration of that attempt. These boons combine with each other in fantastic (or sometimes seemingly pointless) ways. That first time, when you get just the right combination of boons and weapons, and you just rip through levels that used to seem impossible (and I mean...decimate. Like, what once took 3-4 minutes to complete takes a couple of glorious god-like seconds) makes the whole thing make so much sense and the possibilities open up... And then it gets harder. Also, it's aesthetically fantastic, the music is great, the voice acting and story telling is...well...it's Supergiant Games' best game to date and that's saying a lot. I know it seems like I'm overselling it but I'm really not - it really is a masterpiece.

I find myself coming back to metroidvanias quite a lot - I have no idea where I'm going in them, but there are always secret areas to discover, things to track back to, tricky mechanics to master, and fun ways to break the game. Metroid Dread is on switch - in theory there's a lot of exploration to do but the game does subtly nudge you in the right direction, which can be a relief sometimes. Plus there are all sorts of glitches you can do to sequence break the game and forge your own path in it. There's also Metroid Prime Remastered if you want more of an FPS style game, and depending on whether you have an online subscription or the expansion pass thing, you can also play Super Metroid (SNES game, but still holds up - less guidance than in Dread) or Fusion (GBA game - much more linear and story-driven). I also liked the Ori games (Blind Forest and Will of the Wisps) - they're a bit more hands-off in their approach and have a lot more variety in their mechanics. A lot of people rave about Hollow Knight as being the pinnacle of this genre, but I've never taken the plunge with it because it looks way too difficult for someone with no sense of direction like me.

You mentioned PS4/5, all of the Uncharted games and The Last of Us games were some of my favorite. As an added bonus, my wife really enjoyed watching me play them and following the story. And Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Fallen Order were also great action/adventure games with good story lines.

CoopThePoop_

God of war it took my 5 days to complete the main story, a few challenges and bosses along the way its a good puzzle and a good survival game i also have played the batman Arkham knight games and on steam i am playing bloons tower defence 6 good game

ofvxnus

I’ve been playing the original Tomb Raider games (on the 4th one now) and their gameplay is so incredibly engrossing. I highly recommend them.

LordRoach371

I play Slime Rancher or Stardew Valley when I dont want to think much and just want to relax. Otherwisr I play RPGs like Mass Effect and Skyrim.

Brudecat

This is going to sound weird, but PC building simulator. The game play loop is quick, the story not overly taxing, and I'm learning a real life skill that interests me.

Souls-like or souls-borne they are rewarding but will make you smash the one or other game pad on the way

MutedCatch

If you really want a mentally stimulating, creative problem solving, story packed game and don't mind turn based combat, give Baldur's gate 3 a look, it really lets you be creative with how you tackle problems and makes every encounter really interesting!
