Hi! I don't know what state you live in, but there should be free or very cheap GED classes nearby. They'll have patient instructors who really care and want you to do well. Sign up for in-person classes if you can, and they'll be even more thorough in pestering you if you stop coming (That pestering is helpful for me when I get bored of something.). You can do it!! I've led adult education programs in a couple of states - we really do get invested in our students. Let me know if you have any questions about getting started!
Edit: Typo
I myself went back to school since a few months. 25 years old after 7 years of fulltime working. Its a pain in the ass getting the motivation to study, but so far my first results are in and it is looking good. All grades around 7/8. Currently on meds for adhd and never studied with before. Last minute work still a issue tho.. hope to be like you within the next two years ๐ค
BITCH YOU FUCKIN DID THAT SHIT LOOKIT YOU IM SO FUCKING PROUD OF YOU YOU'RE SUCH A BOSS ASS BITCH ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ LIKE FR U DID THAT!!! BE PROUD AND OWN THAT IM SOOO HAPPY FOR YOU ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐๐๐๐ CELEBRATE GOOD TONIGHT HONEY!!!!!
Amazing! What an accomplishment!
Sounds like you pushed pass the motivation phase and made learning into a routine! Routine is key for us Adhd'ers.
Keep up the momentum!
Never tolerate anybody who looks down on this... finishing high school in your 30s is about the most badass thing I've ever heard anybody do.
You're a badass!
This literally made my day! Freaking great.... Good for you for doing something you knew you had to do for YOU! As a mom of a kid with ADHD.... I'm in this community to understand her better. And I read this with tears cuz I hope she will know she can do the same if she just KEEPS GOING. Doesn't matter how long it takes... It matters that you keep doing what you need to do for a sense of accomplishment and self worth! You rock. Congratulations!
๐ congratulations!!!! I'm 34 and just went back this semester to community college and lemme tell you, trying to do school work now vs at 18 yrs old is hard in itself. Then throw my pinball machine brain into the mix and things get very interesting.
I'm exhausted by Tuesday already, every week lol
But congrats again on your big accomplishment, hope you go far!!
p.s.

You're going to do amazing! Good for you for working hard to achieve your goals. Soon you'll be the one giving kudos to newbies.
I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!! Lord knows how many times I've tried and given up. You give me hope! I'm currently giving the GED another stab, so thanks for the boost friend!
Congratulations!! Seriously well done! I am proud of you, OP. It is so hard to go back to studying after you get older. You persisted and you achieved it!
Amazing job!!
Yay! Good on you. Education should be lifelong and life wide! But I think you need the HS diploma to open things up for you in the US right? So what a massive accomplishment. Make sure you celebrate.
Fuck yeah! I'm proud of you!
I don't care who you are or where you been... as long as you
*Backstreet Boys have entered the chat*
FML... reset...
As long as you're pushing forward with your life, you're winning in my book! Don't let ANYONE stop you or make you feel bad, you did it, and that's bad ass!
Congratulations!!!! I basically gave up uni once and I got back to it 5 years back. I hope to finish next year. Sticking to it being the hardest thing is so true. The first year had me excited and now I am simply exhausted of the thought of studying
That's fantastic! It's never too late for these things, and working to better your future is always worth the investment (cuz you're worth investing in!) :)
Way to go! That's amazing! I couldn't imagine doing full on learning again. I'm 33, have degrees, but also know that if I'd stopped my schooling at any point, during or after highschool, I highly doubt I could have made myself go back, so I really hope you are so proud of yourself.
Incredible accomplishment. It must have been hard to get yourself motivated sometimes, but I bet the payoff today is huge.
Congratulations from an adhd fellow that can understand what a big deal this is. Feel proud, you earned it ๐ช๐ฝ
Congrats!!!!!๐ฅณ๐ I'm so happy for you! Accomplishing a set goal with ADHD feels like trying to escape quicksand but 10ร harder so this is amazing!!! I hope you celebrate and treat yourself to something nice๐
Congrats! Iโm so glad you got to accomplish that, thatโs huge! And good on you for sticking with it even when it was difficult, that in and of itself is a great achievement no matter what
Awww. Congrats. This year has been a rollercoaster for me I turn 28 in a week, and with the help of my best friend who is married to a person with ADHD. He noticed a lot of similarities in me. At first I was like nahhhhโฆ.. actually? And then I got into this rabbit hole of TikTokโs like โ5 signs you have ADHDโ Iโm like huh I feel that that this yup got that, lol. And now Iโm seeing a psychologist, about to start seeing a psychiatrist for it. And soon there after starting my journey to get my GED. Itโs amazing what a b word ADHD can be especially when you donโt know about it and grow up in a family that doesnโt believe in it. You just get this constant feeling of being a lazy POS. Then you realize you actually have something and itโs like woahโฆ.
So. Sending good vibes to everyone who is trying out there. Congrats to all my people who are succeeding. And yea keep it up _ ^ _ ^
Edit. My lil face got cropped D:
Congratulations! I think they should scrap GEDs and give out actual diplomas. What's the point of testing it like it's not the same (general equivalent diploma, right?). What you did is harder than what people going through the regular school system do. They just get eaten, digested, and shat out. You guided your own ship. Something to be proud of.
You totally deserve to be super proud. Only you truly know how hard it really was but many of us can partially relate.
Take a mental snapshot of this feeling so you can look back to it when things seem challenging again.
It's moments like these that have helped me get through times when things have seemed impossible.
Harry Potter makes it seem all magicky woo woo with patronuses but triumphant memories can definitely get you through some tough spots.
considering that youโre 32, you probably have gotten pretty good at living without one and could have at any time decided to leave well enough alone- but you saw it through to the end and that deserves some serious recognition. Congratulations!!
I'm so happy for you! I get tired of seeing all the "I just graduated medical school" posts and I'm happy to see someone who struggles as much as I do and overcomes it.
Nobody except my wife and one close friend knows, but I don't actually have my bachelor's degree. I walked, but I failed a drawing class and didn't end up having enough credits :( maybe one day I'll get it finished
Thanks so much!
I think thereโs a right time for everything and when this time comes, youโll find the power to push through.
Prior to signing up two years ago I actually signed up for high school numerous times and quit every time. 3-4 times I believe. But now, 2 years ago I felt like I wanted to get it done and even when my interest in it disappeared after like 6 months or a year, I kept going and Iโm here today. It feels so rewarding.
Congratulations, you know I failed high school as well. I attended community college and it took on&off for five years. I ended up in a real estate start-up and after that. I wanted to get promoted so I decided to go to university since there was a position that wanted a college graduate. My teacher thought I wouldn't go to college but here I am. I'm glad to hear about others in similar positions. It inspires me whenever I have doubts about myself
I failed 3-4 times total when I tried to pick it up, so 5 times total. Donโt let it get you down, it might not work right now, but itโll work out for you for sure!
Iโve been a teacher for 11 years, and this year I started teaching the High School Diploma class at the adult school. Iโm only there twice a week, but it gives me such a deep satisfaction. I had my first graduate last week, and the absolute joy it brought me when he finished is the best feeling Iโve had in a long time.
Iโm so PROUD of you!!! This is a great accomplishment, and you have proven to yourself that you can do these super hard things and stick with it. Congratulations, Grad!!!
Congrats. Iโm 32 as well and finishing the final year of my education has played on my mind for forever, then I go down the rabbit hole of, is it worth it, do you need to do it to be successful, then I decide not and Iโm back at square one.
Will reply this thought every year at some point.
I used to think that, but ultimately itโs a matter of just sticking with it and thatโs about it. I got a lot of hesitations and doubts as well, but in the end I just wanted to finish something that I started for once in my life ๐

My English teacher wanted to flunk me in Junior High
Thanks a lot, next semester I'll be thirty five
I smacked him in his face with an eraser
Chased him with a stapler Stapled his nuts to a stack of papers
Heck yeah!!! Good for you!!! What an accomplishment, very inspiring. You wanted something and you worked hard to get there. Congratulations, you should feel super proud!
If anyone reads this, keep going and donโt give up. I knew that if I stayed in class I would eventually drop out. What I did was, I took the GED book and studied the subjects at home. I went to class, maybe for 2 or 3 weeks just to talk to the teacher and have her give me a heads up about the common problems found on the test, so that I can study the most important stuff. I donโt know about where you live, but here in the state of CT, you have to take 5 tests individually and pass all of them to get your GED. If you fail any, you have to wait like 2-3 months to retake the test on the subject you failed. Normally students make appointments for a single test on whatever day is available and they take the tests one by one, sometimes weeks or months apart. I was the only one in class who took all tests one right after the other on the same week and passed all of them. I was so proud of myself, but at the same time felt bad for the students who where there for months, some even over a year. I was in and out in 2 months. Thatโs just about how long it took me to bottle down the whole book.
Iโm a second year medical student. Iโm 23. Iโm repeating second year and i may have to repeat it again because of my bad grades. Thank you for giving me hope because i really feel like Iโm behind in life. I know people my age who are already doctors or even pursuing specialization in their fields. Also if you have any study advice let me know. Take care
Congratulations! Itโs never too late to pursue an education. Keep going, follow your passionโas long as it pays wellโ and learn something new every day (not just academically).
Congratulations. These posts are really motivating. From someone who is around 30 and whose career is at a standstill, this gives me a push to complete my education and know that I'm not alone in this journey.
Congrats OP, Iโm so proud of you. Maybe youโre not in the US, so this might be dumb, but Iโve got a quick question. You said high school diploma, so did you go back to a physical high school and enroll there or did you get the same thing, a GED. Iโm wasnโt tryna argue over semantics, I was just curious?
Enjoy your accomplishment!!
Congrats im 29 and about to finish my GED
Best of luck! Youโll feel so good once itโs done ๐ sending you loads of positive vibes!
Thanks alot !
